Steve for the second time...great looking Helicopter! I like this one. Your paint job looks well done and decals look sharp. I think I'm going to have to add this one into my collection.

One tip I'd like to pass on to you, when I ready to install my glass and conopy I'll paint the leading edges of those pieces. See doing this will complete and blend where glass and fuselage meet.

Here how I’ll do it, I’ll lightly sand the leading edges, then I’ll take a q-tip dip it into some paint, then dap the q-tip to remove most of the paint…you don’t want a soaked q-tip. Then roll the q-tip along the leading edges. It won’t mater if it’s flat or glossy as the paint will show up gloss. Most time I’ll use the fuselage color to do this, sometime I’ll use black or different shade of gray. The gray looks good on those Navy and Marine birds, almost looks like chalk. If you mess up just wipe up, and if you get some on the outer sides again wipe up. You like the results, and oh yeah the paint works as a barrier to stop the super glue from fogging up, that’s if you us small amounts.

hi all! bet you thought i'd forgotten i was in this campaign
i've just been a bit busy lately and not had too much spare time, but i'm back at the bench now. got my sea king half decaled after quite a struggle, the old decals looked ok, but even after being on a sunny window sill for two months, still have some yellowing to them, and also were awkward to get to snuggle down, being seemingly impervious to micro sol and set. i had to resort to using kleer as a setting fluid which seems to do the trick

Hello all Helicopter campaigners,
First I’d like to apologize for my absence the last month and a half or so. I had to have some surgery again and will once more next week, but I am on the mend and slowly getting back to the hobby. I like to thank you all for your tremendous progress photos and updates…everything is looking good. I’m planning (looking forward) to starting on my second build real soon.

Keep’em coming,
Happy Modeling,
Joe

Hey Phil,
Looking good. Paint looks like it came out well as did the decals…yes I hear you on the yellowing and there is hope. With some weathering you can camouflage that problem. Not sure how much time you want to put into this project, but I would start with using oils to weather. Dark gray along the panel lines, burnt sienna and yellow ochre to simulate rust streaking and other stains. I would also try a heavily thinned white…90% thinner - 10% paint and spray light layers onto the yellowed areas. This will work but it is time consuming. All in all your Sea King is looking sharp and will be looking forward to see it finished.

Happy Modeling,
Joe

Andy it’s amazing what you can do to a Helicopter kit. I’ve been watching you magic the last year or so and each is astonishing as the next. So far the canopy is looking great, nice job on the nose. I know your still in it’s early stages but do you have any plans on opening any panel section exposing equipment or engine…keep the progress posts coming.

Thank you, Joe

I was thinking about opening the engines and maybe access panels for pylons at first... but I just do not have enough time for that. The thing is I am trying to finish it by September. The ramp area and cargo bay is half done and I still have a lot to do - Fuel tanks, radar pod, refueling probe, external hoist, rivets, antennas, FLIR, ammo boxes, etc.......

Maybe I'll just open landing gear access panel since they are already built up.
I am also building three other models at the same time))))))))))

Anyway, some more progress on sunday

hi there joe! hope the surgery went ok mate.
i've been thinking about your advice and its struck me that because the worse offenders are the big number 66 and the word navy on the boom, because they are all straight edged, i could mask up to them and give them a coat of white over the decal film. at the moment there are no decals whatsoever on the other side, and i will cut away as much as possible of the decal film.
another last ditch fix i could try is that the other decal option is for a machine numbered "63" so in theory i could cut out the two sixes from this and replace the dodgy decals

Some more progress on that huge thing! Ramp area - half way there! Now a lot of piping, wiring and painting.

I just realised that I forgot to take a close up of "how it looked like" on the original trumpeter's plastic.
Anybody can help me with that pic?

Once again Andy I’m wowed at your work, it’s amazing how you can put together all the detail. What do you use for reference and measurements. Andy did you sand all the molded raised detail and then added in. Here is a before pic you were looking for. You can take if needed.

Then, i made my way into the rotor:

and found out that some of the linking Jacks weren´t supplied in the kit so i made them with some plastic and a intravenous catheter.

Best regards!

Here's my entry... it turned out to be worse than I expected. Toy-like a bit.
Anyway, it's the Revell kit with eduard PE. I still could not find a decal that fits (And some started silvering after a few weeks. )
I think, I'll try to give it some realistic shine with oil-paint filters...
Comments (even bad ones ) are much appreciated.

Hi guys
I decided to do some work on my Lynx today, first off the pilots were repainted and 'strapped in to their seats, then the seatrs and pilots were secured into the cockpit, this allowed me to finally glue the two frame halves together, this created a small gap in between the two halves on the bottom which required filling, then the tale boom was added and then after the two halves and tail boom were dry the skids were glued on, (and are still drying!!). Anyway here are some pics:

(the gap before filling)

(and after)

Hope you like it, Nick

Due to heavy rain here I have managed to get a bit more of the Lynx done!! I've made the tail rotors and added on the aerials and various PE grills, here are some pics:

hi all! i got back to my sea king a couple of days ago, after the problems on one side with the decals i went down the route of cutting away as much of the carrier film as possible, this helped, but the decals themselves seem totally impervious to any setting solution. its like cutting a peice from a plastic bag and trying to stick it to a model with water

one silver lining though,i have ended up with a set of masks for this kit!
i intend to see this kit through to the bitter end, but i may build a lynx kit as another entry if time permits
