Hi Graeme!

That´s one colorful chopper, indeed!
Wonderful build!

I have been looking at the Panda kit for some time but I have heard so much bad things about it.
Now I know that this can be made into a lovley replica, I will get a couple for myself!

Cheers!

Hi all!

I have made some progress on my very reluctant Kiowa!

I had trouble to get the fuselage halves together, and the doors was a really bad fit too.

I believe that the interior got about 2mm too far forward, but that was the only way I could fit It into the fuselage!

As a consequence the instrument coaming had to be cut down in the front, as It was too wide for the front glazing.

I also had to cut a notch in the back of the glass part to get a decent fit.

I wonder how much of this was caused by me, placing the interior too far forward, or the fit of the kit itself?
Well, I might never know, because I will never build this kit again!

I´m struggling along, but I believe I´ll crash and burn on this Campaign as I probably won´t get It done In time (and we are already on overtime!).

Cheers!

Thanks, Stefan.
As I say in my summary in the "Finished Forum", the kit does have some inaccuracies, the biggest of which is probably the nose profile, but I wouldn't hesitate to build another. I will build at least one of the UH-1H versions as an RAAF ship. It is certainly close enough to correct to keep me happy ... If it looks like a Huey and it smells like a Huey - it IS a Huey!

Good luck with the Kiowa. It looks like it might be more trouble than it is worth! I have one of these in my stash and I will think twice now before starting it. It is unusual for an MRC kit. I built the AH-1W and it went together easily.

Hi All

I've finally completed the interior and am about to close her up. The seats are well over scale but, I think, they successfully add some interest to the very little that will be seen of the interior, once she is closed.

Sorry for the irregular updates; I just don't have the time I used, either for modelling or hanging out on the site.

I'm loving the other builds.

Cheers
Wiz

After a few PM's asking for extensions I've granted three more works to those who need to finish up their builds. I think this should cover it. I'd like to ask those who finished please PM me so I know who's done.

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe,

I'm done and posted in the "Finished" forum.

Is there another chopper campaign in the wings (rotors)?

Graeme.

Is there another chopper campaign

Graeme I do plan on doing another Helicopter Campaign, I'm thinking towards spring. It was suggested that we look into doing it in categories…such as attack, lift and such. Personally I like the variety and seeing the choices the modelers build. So I’d like to keep it same way.

Joe, here are some theme suggestions (Should these go in a different thread?):

Amphibious. This could cover amphib assault as well as water-capable.
Skids ahoy: Just skids.
Wheels ahoy: Just wheeled gear.
Firsts: Helo's that were first of a kind, first turbine, first twin engine, first twin rotor, first armed.
Record Breakers: Significant record-breaking helos.
Am I blue? Police, Civil Defence, choppers.
Ungreen: No exterior green paint allowed!
Airline: Helos in airline schemes, fact or fiction.
Black Ops: Air America, spec ops, black paint,
Loaded for Bear: As much weaponry hanging off as possible!
French Connection: Anything Eurocopter, Aerospatiale, Sud Aviation.
Stripes: The colour scheme must include stripes.
Vanilla Peacekeepers: White UN birds.
Pulp Fiction: Choppers from novels. Clear and Present Danger CH53, or, Hammerheads V-22, that sort of thing (They don't HAVE to be Tom Clancy novels!)
Tankbusters: Anti-armour choppers.
Seeing Double: Two choppers either seen working together (Vietnam Pink Team, Scout and Gazelle from Northern Ireland), variations on a theme (Kiowa and Bell 206, Sea King and S-61), sister ships from the same outfit, adversaries (Argentine and British Linx).

Any other ideas?

Graeme.

Hi all!

I have finally finished my OH-58 Kiowa!

But unfortunatley, I can´t show any pics of this model, or ANY other model for that matter!

My picture-host have re-organized the site and all old links are now defunct!
This affects ALL of my pics I have posted here on these forums since I joined Aeroscale (except those uploaded to the gallery on kitmaker).

I don´t know when I can post pics again, so You´ll have to take my word for the moment!

Thanks for a well-run Campaign and I will surley join in for a new one!

Graeme; I have an small addition to your (almost complete!) list;
Twin-Rotors, everything with two rotors

Cheers!

Hello

Here is the progress pic of my entry, HUMA /48 Flettner FI 282.
The first free flight of FI282 was made by the V2 on October 30, 1941. V21was built as a two-seaters version; an observer sat behind the engine block, the fuselage fuel tank was remove and replaced by two unprotected, cylindrical tanks mounted externally on both sides of the pilot seat.

I'll say it again, that is super-crisp! That is some outstanding masking and decalling.

Well done, Drabslab.

Hello everyone,

With a name of Guardian Angel I thought what better model than a helicopter that performs rescue and has guns. So I started work on a CH-53 Jolly Green Giant unfortunately as I was getting started I discovered both curved bottom glass panels for the nose of the kit were missing!

I wanted to build something for the campaign so with time running short I decided to build a helicopter that I was going to assemble for the “Falklands War” Keeping with the title theme I built an Argentine Army Bell UH-1H Huey. This aircraft (AR-242) was involved in the water rescue of a downed Argentine Navy A4 Skyhawk Pilot.

The kit is a 1/72 Hasegawa and was the first helicopter I built since 1989 . I did not need filler and it really has encouraged me to try another helicopter in the future. I built it out of box, pre-shaded the model then applied Model Masters Olive Drab. I created the markings using Woodland Scenic Dry Transfers and I masked the tail to paint the Argentine flag. The model was followed with a black oil wash and final detail painting.

Anyway sorry about the long narrative here it is!

Sincerely,
Brian

Wow the entries pouring in and are looking great. Graeme, Gino…you guys did a fantastic job with those Panda kits, your choice of colors really stand out.

Eman how’s the Flettner coming along.

Drabster the SeaKing is awesome. Great choice of decals and the painting look clean.

Brain the Huey looks super…man the painting is pretty spot on. If it wasn’t for the background it sure look real. PM sent on box art.

Well it's finally finished, but can't get good photos yet - drive to work and back in the dark. Will try to get decent photos at the weekend.

Thanks for the extension Joe

Hi all!

Wow, some beautiful models have been done here!

I have finally finished my MRC/Academy OH-58D "Kiowa Warrior".

This was NOT a fun build, bad fit troughout the whole build, bad decals that silvered badly and a photo-host that stirred up all my pics!
Well, the last post can´t be blamed on the kit, really!

here comes some pics of the finished chopper (I hope);

Thanks for a fun and well run Campaign!

Cheers!
