A long time ago, long before the Beer King moved to Belgium, there were dozens of small breweries all across America, creating beers with the unique flavors desired in each region. Then the beer guy figured out that if he made a tasteless beer, he could sell it for less and outsell all the other brewers and become the Beer King. And so it happened. Now there's not a single major beer brewed by an American company. They're all in Europe, Africa or even, Gasp ............... Canada.
So in tribute to all those fallen brewers, I will always order their departed labels; Rainier, Hamm's, Pearl, Stag, Iron City, Dixie Pride, Lone Star, Olympia, Ballantine, Schlitz, Carling, Blatz and even Pabst Blue Ribbon.

I almost had to wear a hazmat suit to clean the mess up! Sorry, didn't see any alcohol. Maybe someone snuck in and drank it all?
Guess some of you will have to restock the alcohol section . Or, it's BYO!
Gee, holidays coming up already?! Turkey Day next month and then Christmas and New Year's. Where did 2014 go?!
Seriously, this thread's been way too entertaining to just let it drop.

Well, Mark, as a one-time beer can collector I can certainly appreciate your nostalgia for those departed labels, but seriously? None of those equally-watery products mis-appropriating the term 'beer' could ever hold a candle to the results of the American craft-brweing rennaissance, which is alive and well, thank you very much.
Long live IPA!

Next month? What is this "next month" of which you speak? Thanksgiving is next Monday, not next month!

@Mark C. I certainly appreciate your remarks on craft beers. I'm growing a taste for some of them. But they're even more regional and obscure than the old brands. OTOH, I consider IPA to be the bottled equivalent to horse urine. to each his own. Learning more about stouts and porters.
That aside, I'll be flying over you in the next few hours, Please help keep me safe.
@Jessie. I insult your beer and no comment. Insult your holidays, and you jump right in????

Not here. It's the 4th Thursday of Nov since it's been made a national holiday.

Whereas we hold our Harvest Festival when the actual harvest finishes. You know, when you should be having a Harvest Festival. And it gives us two months to lose weight before the next feast instead of barely one.
Little known fact: in the US, Thanksgiving wasn't made an annual holiday until 1863, and only in 1942 was the last Thursday of November date finally nailed down. Until then it kind of wandered around a bit.

Jessica,
Actually,I had no idea that Thanksgiving moved around as much as it did. This comes off one of the many sites dealing with Thanksgiving.
Seems that the retailers were the ones who kept on pushing the President to make it the 3rd Thursday of Nov for business reasons as early as 1933. President Roosevelt stuck with the second-to-last Thursday schedule, some states stuck with the last Thursday of the month schedule and finally on Dec. 26, 1941, Congress passed a law making Thanksgiving the fourth Thursday of November.

I have to read incident reports at work. This one occurred over the weekend:
Title: Bird Strike
Description: On departure from VTSF, RW01, at approximately 500' beginning right turn, small bird (approx. 4cm) struck the lower starboard windshield, outboard, glanced off, no damage. Aircraft continued flight.
Reportable Occurrence: Yes
A Flight Occurrence Report for your area has been added.
So my brain suffered a short-circuit, and this resulted:

Love it!
Will there be an Incident Report for your short-circuit?

Thanks Jessie, never really think about it from the other side. A 4cm bird, that's like 2 inches in the real world, right?
So is this like the opposite of a near miss? A near hit, considering the size differential.
Barkeep! get us some more beers over here.

On the Eleventh hour of the Eleventh day of the Eleventh month.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
- John McCrae
_ _
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Happy Holidays!
This statement of good wishes (”Greeting”) from me (”Sender”) is intended to be generic in nature. “Holiday” is intentionally left an undefined term. This holiday may include, but not be limited to, Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, New Year’s Day, Saturnalia, or even Elvis’ Birthday (”Elvis” is a registered trademark of Elvis Presley Enterprises, Memphis, TN). Further, the recipient of this greeting (”Receiver”), may insert his, her or hir own holiday into this Greeting, either explicitly or implicitly, or no holiday at all, if he, she or zie chooses. If Receiver celebrates no holidays during the intended period of Greeting, assumed to be roughly mid-December, 2014 through the first week in January, 2015 (”Greeting Period”), he, she or zie may consider Greeting to be merely general, and a simple wish of good feelings and joy, suitable for any time of year, or no time at all.
Greeting should in no way be construed to guarantee or warrant happiness or other good feelings during Greeting Period, or warrant or guarantee an acceptable holiday. By accepting Greeting, Receiver expressly agrees that he, she or zie assumes the risk for his, her or hir own holiday. Receiver will hold Sender harmless should Receiver’s expectations for Greeting Period and wishes contained herein not coincide.
Greeting is at all times subject to withdrawal by Sender, and it may be canceled or modified at any time, without notice to Receiver. In the event of cancellation, Receiver shall receive no credit or proration for any time left in Greeting Period. Greeting is not intended to be transferable, and has no cash value. Under no circumstances may Receiver in any way alter Greeting, or publish Greeting directly or indirectly without express written permission of Sender. Permission may be withheld for any reason within the sole discretion of Sender, with no rule of reasonableness.
Should Receiver not accept the terms of Greeting listed above, no rights or benefits related to Greeting will accrue.
Should a dispute arise from Greeting, Receiver agrees that jurisdiction and venue will be in the courts of [your local jurisdiction]. Sender and Receiver agree that personal jurisdiction will lie in those courts, regardless of the location of either party. Greeting will be construed under the laws of [your local jurisdiction], without regard to Choice of Law or Renvoy.

Gosh, it's dusty in here. We need to do a lot of cleaning in here before the festivities commence because it's Pi day!
On the menu today, fresh Pi.

A wild thought, can a campaign be set up around "PI"? I think it could be under "General Modeling". Master Campaign starters could come up with some ideas.
