Hi there everyone.
There have been some wonderful builds so far in this campain. How do you all find the time to build so quick?
I am a little surprized that the P-38 has not had more attention in this campain.....................so here will be my entry.
I will be using the Academy kit in 1/48.
This will also be my first attempt at a BMF, so wish me luck. I will need it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Samantha, Great progress. You are really getting this little fat boy finished quickly. It looks very good as always
Stefan, looks like an interesting kit. I am looking forward to see more as it progresses.

Hi Ted
Great choice for this campaign. I will follow this one with interest. I am sure you NM finish will look great. Have you decided on a method for the NMF for your kit yet?
Also thanks for the support in the Tank buster campaign. Could I tempt you with a new ribbon for this campaign? I can recommend one of the ribbons below:

I have made some more progress on my KI-115. Construction is almost finished. I only need to paint a few details in the cockpit and put a little PE details on the airframe and this one is ready for masking and a base coat.
Building this aircraft it gets really obvious that it is build for one single operational flight as it is a dedicated suicide plane. The cockpit is very basic and the airframe is simple with rude landing gear that cannot retract. A very different build from other planes I have tried.
More to follow....

Thanks Jesper
I completely forgot to change my ribbon after the last campain.
I will probably go with Alclad Aluminum for the overall BMF then use Testors aluminum and steel for different panels. That is the plan, if it works out.

Great job, Nigel. The NMF looks very convincing and it is cool to see a P-47 in unusual markings instead of all the US stars.
Love the Mossie, Carlos! It is ready to hand out some considerable pain with that armament. I think you made the right choice going for the camouflage scheme instead of NMF. It looks great.
The folder for uploading pictures of finished models can be found HERE Remeber to upload your picture(s).
I feel the Japanese are pretty outnumbered as it is now. 5 to 0 as it is right now in the folder When my KI-115 suicide plane takes to the sky the chances will be very slim of getting through to the fleet

I have made a little more progress on my KI-115. The construction is basically finished with just a few things to add after the painting of the cockpit and bomb.
The KI-115 could carry either a 500 kg or 800 kg bomb under the fuselage. However, as it was a suicide plane it could not drop the bomb, but the bomb was simply just strapped tight semi recessed into the fuselage. The 800 kg bomb is very big for a plane this size.

Latest progress shots on my Brewster Buffalo - just a subtle bit of weathering to be done, and bombs to hang from the wings
And better shots to take if it ever stops raining :-)

The basic construction is finished and the basecoat applied. Next is a NMF and then maybe a green colour coat, but that I have not decided on yet.

So many good looking aircraft. And that corsair, wow.

Here is another update on my build. I have given the KI-115 an overall coat of aluminium which was left to dry over night.
Next I decided that my plane should look like a KI-115 training plane for suicide pilots. I have seen a lot of Japanese aircraft with very rough field applied paint coats that were very worn and scratched. This was the look I were going for although keeping the scratching and wearing of the paint limited.
I therefore applied a green "cloudy" sprayed coat of green. I am going for the field applied look of the green paint coat. Something the mechanics at the airfield would have applied to help conceal the aircraft from the air.
After letting the paint coat dry for an hour I carefully scratched the green paint coat around the wing edges and the engine cowling to give a worn look of a roughly applied paint coat.
Next will be some detail painting and application of decals. More to follow...

Hi All
I have completed my entry, a Tamiya 1/32 A6M2b Zero.
A very very enjoyable build. I used Montex masks for the canopy, main markings and numbering. The kit provided decals were used for the stencils, some of which are tiny.
There were no major pitfalls, everything fits like it was cut with a laser.
Cheers

Peter, looks good! Very nice cockpit. Was the stand included in the kit?
Nice to have some top cover for my KI-115. The Japanese side is vastly outnumbered so far
Thanks for participating

Yep, stand included; a nice throw back to days gone by when you you used to get a stand with your kit.... even if they were 1/72 !
Not only a stand, but working flaps, rudder, undercarriage, an openable cowl... so much detail... I built it OOB and found the detail to be outstanding. I think I'll pick up the A65M and have a go at a really weathered finish.
Thanks for running the campaign

Outstanding work as always Peter.
Possibly we may meet in the sky again with my P-38, just like in the "Duel" campain.
It must be a nice addition to your collection.

Looking forward to "meeting" your P-38. I'll be waiting for you
If it's anything like your other builds, she's gonna be a beauty.

Hi there everyone, well I have finally had a chance to start my P-38J for this campain.
As usual I started with the front office.
Normal interior green, with a wash of burnt umber wash
I have the major assemblies put together, and will post some more progress shortly.
As always your comments are more than welcomed.
Ted
Peter...........we will meet in the skies very soon !!!!!!!!!

Hello All!
New to this site, but I came across this campaign and it was too good to pass up! I love Japanese aircraft, so if it`s not too late, consider me in! I will have to see what is in the stash, but I`m thinking at this time one of the 32nd scale fighters from Hasegawa....
Looking forward to seeing everyone else`s aircraft.

Well, I finally managed to get enough of my commission jobs out of the way to get some of my 1/72 Betty and Ohka worked on. Just for laughs, here is all the glass with the painting masks removed.
Some interior shots of the Betty. I have to install the waist gunners at this stage as they won't be able to be placed after the fuselage is closed up. I'll install the rest of the crew and pilot seats at final assembly. In order for the "ribs" to be seen in the shadows of the closed plane, I do thicker, darker lines in those areas- kinda like a matte painting. Also, note the toilet...
The Betty and Ohka main assembly...
Now I have to sit this stuff aside for a little while, as I have to work on yet another commission piece. The absolutely insane 1/18 B-17F nose... A size comparison (I've already sawed out the openings and the fiberglass dust is still floating around.
Cheerio!

Your Betty is looking SWEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!
All that masking, wow, That looks even worse than the B-25 I did a while ago, and that drove me close to drinking (more)
The figures look great.
