Hi all,

I've almost completed the 'Rex' which is my entry for this campaign.

The base weathering of the IJN Green, on the upper surfaces and floats is almost completed, from using different shades of pastels, before going onto the lower surfaces and then finally the minor detail bits.

This is an OOB build, of the Tamiya {original kit - not the spinning prop re-issue}, using the Early Production version of the kit's options, being the BMF / Black prop and the 90 degree elbows on the exhaust.

Sorry for the poor quality of the pix.

Hi Vance and Rob!

Nice ones!

Vance that's a very promising return after 2 years of hiatus. I hope some more like that will follow soon!

Thanks Jean-Luc!

I hope there will be plenty more to come now that I am all settled and doing well again.

I actually have about a dozen aircraft models in various build states that I have started in the last 6 months or so (can you say Attention Deficit Disorder?), many pretty much ready to paint. I hope to clear out some of them in the coming months.

Vance, happy to see your awesome P-40! That insane shark mouth decal looks great and shows you're made of stronger stuff than I!

Rob, your Kyofu is looking hot! I'm a big fan of the Kyofu and Shiden (built a Shiden and a Kyofu is in the stash) and it's nice to see someone build this robust float plane.

Thanks. I am happy someone can appreciate the work on that bit.

It was not, as you have guessed, the easiest decal in the world to apply. I had to slice both sides with an x-acto knife in a couple places and use generous amounts of decal softener to get them to conform, and paint in some gaps with red after the fact.

I couldn't resist that lovely saber-toothed smile when I saw it though.

Hi all!

Some nice builds done here, good job everybody!

My SBD-5 is progressing, the three-tone camouflage and gloss coat was laid on, and now all decals are on too.

Now I´ll get all the small thingies on and some weathering and a final flat coat.

Cheers!

Looks beautiful, Stefan. The combination of the colours in the camouflage and the markings looks really good.

Looking forward to see more

Now the campaign is over and I have awarded the ribbons. Please let me know if I missed somebody.
18 ribbons has been awarded out of 37 modellers that signed up for the campaign. Roughly 50% finished their entry - which is pretty good - especially considering I know some of you has been followed by almost unbeliveable bad luck during your builds.
Several modellers made more than one entry.

The level of the models entered in the campaign is very high and the gallery is definently worth a visit. You can see the finished entries in the CAMPAIGN GALLERY

I hope everybody enjoyed the campaign, saw some interesting builds, and most important of all: had fun.

Thanks to everybody for participating - fun to be campaign leader as always

HI all!

Darn, I missed It by a hair!

Last few parts glued on and was going to give the final matt-coat tonight!

Next time I´ll go for a 1/144 model instead, they don´t take so much time!

Thanks for a good campaign though.
I agree that many very nice models have been built for this campaign, good job everyone!

Cheers!

Thanks for running such a fun campaign, Jesper! Also, thanks for giving that extension so that I could finish my entry the day after the original cut off. This was my first campaign and it was a blast! I actually finished a Wildcat a couple days ago that I could have also entered, but I was too lazy to take and post pictures in time.

Well, Stefan. I will bent my own principles. If you get it done within a few days (before Wednesday morning) you can still make it and get the ribbon. After all, this should be fun and is not as serious as "real life" deadlines.

Please post pictures of the final bird both here and in the gallery.

Glad you enjoyed the campaign.

After having shown your great work on the Betty, you have to share your Wildcat. No excuses accepted Maybe you could put that just after the Betty in your air diorama - just about to attack the Betty?

Thanks for the campaign, Jesper!

and thanks for the motivation to get a model finished after so long.

The campaign gallery is very nice looking, with lots of variety. good stuff. I hadn't realized I was the 3rd p-40 though! at least they were all different marks.

Hi Jesper!

Thanks for the extra days, I really appreciate that!

She WILL be finished by Wednesday!

Tonight I got the final clear coat on and all masking (which worked almost perfectly!) is removed.

Just some final touch-ups and the usual small thingies left like aerials, canopies, bombs and stuff like that.

Cheers!

Alrighty, here she is- the Tamiya 1/48 Wildcat. I did this project as a quick break after the Betty, so no crazy aerial maneuvers. It has Eduard photoetch in the cockpit and I cut the solid cockpit floor to make it more like the real thing so that the bottom windows can be seen out of. It's sprayed with the new Tamiya Flat clear coat. Unfortunately, I stupidly forgot to seal my oil washes with another coat of Future before spraying the Tamiya lacquer, so the wash ended up moving away from the decals and made the decals stand out under close scrutiny. Ah well. This was a project for fun. Unleash the big pictures!

@Dade: excellent Wildcat! Thanks for sharing

@Stefan: looking forward to see your finished bird.

@Vance: we can make a small squadron of P-40s. I am the Aussie P-40. Let us go hunting that Betty or the KI-115

Jesper - Thanks for a great campaign! Just look at all the incredible builds! I'm very impressed!

Unfortunately, I was unable to finish my 1/144 "rumble"-project in due time, but I will finish it "hors compétition" during the spring! My last model (a Chineese I-16) arrived today from Japan! I'll keep you posted!

Seems I received 2 ribbons for this campaign....

I wonder if this is a bug I should report to the site, or if Jesper double clicked too many times?

Hi all!

Two days overtime, but now my SBD-5 is FINISHED!!!!!

Today I attatched all the small thingies like the Yagi-antennas, pitot, all nav-, pos.- and id- lights, bombs, radio antenna and the propeller!

Only thing really not finished is the big 500lbs bomb and crutch, but those will be added soon enough!

Pilot´s Cockpit;

Gunner´s station with the two heavy 0.50`s guns;

This aircraft has a lot of Attitude!

Thanks for a very fun and well run Campaign!
Oh, Thanks a LOT for the few extra days i needed, much appreciated!
Mange Tack!

Cheers!
