I love that method of dislpaying the Mig! Jets looks great displayed in flight. If i ever get around to doing my Tamiya Mig 15 i think i'll copy that display idea for sure.
And the snow dome has to be the most original display idea i've seen for a long time. I wonder if i've still got any of those THQ miniatures lying around from my old "Avalon Hill Squad Leader" days...

Hi Jean-Luc
Due to unforeseen consumption over the weekend at my Father -in-Law's 60th Birthday Bash progress on the SU-27 has slowed a bit, is there any chance of an extra week to finish this?
yours hopefully

Hi Andy!
I think there is no problem with this. I will ask Chuck, the new Campaign manager, to extend the VVS Campaign until the 15th January. Is this ok?
This will allow you some more unforeseen consumption for Christmas and the New Year's celebrations...
Andy, Rick, Howard, Björn and Mike that's some fantastic work you've done! Congratulations and thank you very much. It's nice to see that you guys keep this Group Build alive, I very much appreciate this!

I thank you for hosting this campaign Jean-Luc. Some fantastic work has been produced.
Just wish I'd chosen a different kit. I don't think my skills are high enough to make that kit as well as it could be.
As stated I will post up proper pictures in the coming days.

C[ ] consumption for Christmas and the New Year's celebrations will not be unplanned.
Thanks for the extension, hope not to need it, but i'm away from 24/12 until 1/1, so i will not have that week to finish it.

Great work here. The snow globe blows my mind.
I'm done with the cockpit now and moved on to other fiddly details. The aft cooling inlets looked too large to me so I replaced the smaller ones with hollow solder wire and sanded the larger ones down. I fixed up the struts which were pretty plain and flattened the wheels to simulate weight. The decal sheet I'm using says the plane I'm doing is a Mig-21bis SAU carried 2 R-3S (AA-2 Atoll) and 2 R-3R (AA-2-2) missiles. Since the kit only comes with 2 R-3Ss I scoured my other kits for the R-3Rs but there were none to be found. As it turned out they were easy to make. I found some sprue that was the right diameter, cut to the proper length, sanded one end to a point and made fins from thin plastic sheet using one of the kit R-3S as a template. Some scrape plastic and wire was used to represent the RSBN-5S ILS antenna to distinguish the SAU from the Lazur version. Tonight I sent the Mig to the paint shop for some pre-shading.

Hi,
Thanks for that extension Jean-Luc. I didn't quite manage to get the MiG done before jetting off for Xmas. But should have no problems getting it done by the 15th Jan.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
Mike

Hi all!
Ulas, that's a very nice I-16 in an interesting paintsheme. Congratulations for another fine VVS entry!
Here is an updated table for the Campaign...
As always, if I made a mistake or forgot something, please tell me. Below is a gallery with the finished entries...
We have 9 more "Heros of the Soviet Union" and this makes a total of 15 now. We even have a "Double Hero of the Soviet Union" with Andrew Beard (CMOT07)
From 29 models that have been started, 13 are still on the workbench. I hope some of them will make it into the final list before January 15th. Good luck to all!

Hi Jean-Luc
I do not know why but you left out my started La-5FN .... I am struggling hard to get the thing done (I do not know if I will succeed, because time is in short supply. Still I hope to manage to finish the La, the F-2 and the Super Entendard ... also I would like to finish one of my Ki 10, but maybe I switch to the new Ki45 ....
what I wanted to say: could you please add the La to the started list (in your next update). I also have posted some pictures some time ago: https://aeroscale.kitmaker.net/forums/107747&page=1

Jean-Luc,
I'm almost finished with my Eduard La-7 It's ready for the final camo paint and decals. I started very late as I was distracted by a Roden D.VII which caused much and I had to just set it aside, which I've never had to do before! But I'm back in the saddle and should have it done by the 31st. Maybe
Great entries everyone!!

Hi Steffen and Derek!
I made the appropriate changes to the table. You may have to refresh your browser or even empty your cache folder to actually see them. Steffen, I'm sorry, it seems I always mess up when it comes to update your profile in my Campaign tables...

Hey all
Well, I finally finished my entry, though not to the standard I had hoped to produce. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I ran into some "tough sledding" on this build (partly caused by experiments gone wrong, but mostly amateurish gaffes that someone who has been modelling off and on since the late sixties shouldn't be having.) Add to that the inevitible distractions of the holiday season, a car repair done for a relative, and a plethora of other stuff that's been going on, I kinda lost enthusiasm for this one and just slapped it the rest of the way together to call it done. Here's a pic of the undersides . . .
And the top. . .
There's also a shot of the upper in the campaign gallery. Don't look too closely--it's definitely a "three-footer" (at least).
Oh, and a question for you, Jean-Luc--is the campaign now officially extended until Jan 15? If so, I think I may try another entry. I have some vacation time left, and with the busiest part of the holidays over, I might just be able to crank one out by then.
By the way, congratulations to all on the nice work that's been posted recently.
Cheers

Hello guys. As a last moment effort I started the Italeri (Dragon) Mig-15 last night. Let's see if I can pull through. Anyways. I have two quick questions if anyone has an idea. 1- The guide tells that the cockpit is Ghost Grey. I couldn't find a sufficient photo, is it so or is it the regular light blue of the later Russian aircraft? 2- Were they NMF or metalic painted in Korea? Thanks alot.
Posted: Wednesday, December 26, 2007 - 10:25 PM UTC
Hi Yalım
light grey is ok, dark grey would also be possible (IMHO) the turquoise colour was only introduced after th MiG-21 PF
@campaign leader re rulz: Didn't we agree to stick to aircraft with a plain soviet-russian star? I am asking because I see a vietnamese MiG already and Yalım wants to build a Korean a/c (I know there were also MiG-15 with soviet markings ... just in case you chose another c&m )
best wishes
Steffen ... trying to finish his own entry ...
