Looking Good ! Big question here....how does this one stack up against the Minicraft C-47/DC-3 ? Some have complained quite a bit about the props and engines on the Minicraft kit. It might just be me, but I really don't see a major problem. So how does Roden's little beauty go together ?

Just finished building the Revell 1-144 Eurofighter Typhoon. A nice wee kit that went together well. The panel lines are a bit too deep as the Typhoon seems to be quite a smooth aircraft. I still haven't decided whether to leave the canopy open or closed.

Bang Seat with straps from foil (I think) but might have been thin strip.




The kit had no ASRAAMs so I scratched some from sprue and styrene and added bands from printer coloured decal paper.

I must admit that (to my great surprise) I'm really enjoying building in this scale and these are the three 1-144 kits I've built so far: Revell Typhoon, Revell Tornado and Airco De Havilland DH-2 (fully rigged too - very proud of that one).

Nice job on the Typhoon ! Revell accomplished a nice kit there along with most of their recent releases. I think you'll find the more you get into 1/144th, the more you'll really enjoy this scale.

On another point - at present I'm working up a 1/144th DML SH-60B Seahawk. While there are a few areas that are definitely not made too well, I am really getting surprised by this little kit. And the spare parts !!!! There are sooooo many H-60 variants that can be modeled it is really a very pleasant surprise.

Big question .....Any others in this group previously built up an H-60 in any version ? Just wondering how you found the kit ?

Hi - I have just retired and once my brain starts working properly I will be starting construction of my 1/144 kits. I have collected post war military aircraft of US, Russia and other major players, mostly fighters and bombers, have about 60-70 total.

Welcome to Aeroscale, and a Big-time congrats on your retirement ! I'm about 18 months out, and can't wait ! You'll find this is a Great bunch here, extremely willing to help with tips,etc. All you need do is ask.

Also a Great choice as far as 1/144th. Obviously quite a few on this thread just love the scale, and we're getting better and better products each day. So sit back and enjoy the ride !

Once again, it has been quite quiet around here 1/144th wise. Since I just managed to complete the Dragon SH-60B, thought I would add a few pics to see about generating a little interest.

This was a tough build, but the MYK decals made it worth the work. This is an example from HSL-51 "The Warlords" from about 2010.

Really nice whirly bird Bruce, I've had one of these (different markings) on the go for some time using the Dragon decals, and they will not confirm to the shape of the kit no matter how much set and solve I use. So well done.

Outstanding Display ! The 1/144th SIG did a tremendous job. I have to say, I am really impressed with all the models, but the MiG 21 group is very impressive. Congrats Folks.

Just bought a Sweet Aviation Models 1/144 Macchi C200AS from HLJ. I think they come two to a box. Anyway, planning on picking up some 1/144 Prop Blur three-blade props, so we'll see where this goes!

Wow, I am the first for 2014!
Finished this at the weekend.
It is a conversion of a 1/144 F-toys gasaphon trading kit.
Well, 58 decals later ( I gave up on a few!) and going a little cross-eyed, despite the surgical glasses, I think I have finished! The decals from Peddinghaus are rescaled versions of their 1/72 ones and so have a LOT on them (basically every hatch or opening has a decal for it!
The legs from the Platz kit were used along with the PE undercarriage covers painted and the undercarriage decals (Red and White striped) from the kit used.
A coat or two of Pollyscale 'Flat Finish' was used and this gives both a good matte finish as well as tone down the colours a bit giving (to me at least) a weathered and faded look.
Various rust, fuel and oil stains were made with the Lifecolor Tensocrom range of detailing paint.
Exhaust stains and general grime were done with MIG products powder 'black smoke' and 'ashes white'.
More PE for the antennas from the Brengun set on the underside were added.

Wow, Peter. To work an exposed engine and have an open side panel on a small fighter in this scale. Now thats a true modelling experience.
She looks just great; well done!
