I just enlisted and I have the Hasegawa 1/48 F/A-18F Super Hornet. I have a set of decals from TwoBobs for VFA-11 Red Rippers.

I just picked up two Academy 1/32 F-16 CG/CJ's for $35.99 each. I will probably do one of those instead of the others I planned on doing.

I know how one can quickly change the build for a campaign several times, Carl.
Sounds like you did a good bargain, although I do not recall these kits. Are they reboxing of other kits? Could you post a picture and give a few comments on the look of the kits. I assume you are going to use AM decals?

When I was in Iraq, two of these guys flew past me and my crew. We were up on a mountain top about 500-600 feet above a main road. The flew straight down the road about 100-200 feet high. We were looking almost straight down on them. Boy, that was waaaay cool.. It looks like a great kit. The fuselage comes with a top and bottom, eliminating fuselage seems. Decals look great, but I have never really had a lot of success with academy decals the few times I have used them though. The ones I used in the past seemed to be impervious to decal solutions, and peeled off after a few weeksw. So AM's are a real posibility. Here is a link to a review.

I also got a Revell 1/12 Testa Rossa, a few metal car kits for the wife and grankids, a 1/72 Karl with ammo panzer, an Accurate Miniatures bombs and ground equipment kit, a Hasegawa FW 190 A-3 (Butcherbird campaign coming up), and a Pz.Kpfw VI (P). All at 66% off. A little voice told me that I should go into that store that day. When you hear that little voice, pay attention. It also saved my life about a month ago. But that is another story.
I am going to check out decals now.

Still planning a Wright flyer but I have been looking for something to try NMF (read Nigel's article). Found this and I think it is a bargain, Obviously second hand, one seat etched part is missing but it appears complete apart from that. I am not that proud, it won't be perfect (are they ever?) but it should still be good (assuming I get the NMF right).

Well folks, this kicks off in just 10, count 'em, 10 days. I still don't know what I am going to build for sure. I am leaning towards the F-104 in NMF. I have always loved the lines of this aircraft. But I got sooooo many that I can build for this campaign, that I would love to do for this campaign. I hope the rest of you are having better luck decdiding. So go ahead and pull the shrinkwrap off your choices, and get your airbrushes warmed up. We will be breaking speed records real soon.

I am going to build the 1/48 SU-7BKL from Kopro. I am going to pimp it up completely with resin and PE.
Looking forward to get started.

Only 4 days to go, looking forward to doing a modern subject for a change. I've decided to relegate the Mirage to the French campaign. So this is my intended build now.
Will be doing the 25th anniversary scheme, though the Canadian "Toothbrush" was tempting as well.
The kit is Revells boxing of the Hasegawa kit, outstanding value at half the price of the Japanese box!

I just purchased my D-558-1 Skystreak from Sprue Brothers..............
and then I read this thread and found out Rowan was building the same kit.
Considering the vast difference in the quality of Rowans beautiful finished kits and the crap that I consistantly turn out, I have just one question. Did any of the Skystreaks crash? If so, that's the one I will build mine as.

Andrew, good choice with the "G". I will be doing the "C".
Crashed aircraft? Now there is an idea for a campaign.

Gutting that. Doesn't look too bad to sort out, where it is . But that's a bit of work you didn't think you have.
I broke out the Maachi MC-72. Loads of flash and the sprue is snapped breaking some components but
nothing that can't be easily made out of brass wire.
Put it back in the box till I finish my tiger for an armour campaign and get the paints ready.
I'll need some refs for the cockpit as there isn't one.
But when there is only 20 pieces in the whole 1/48 kit what do you expect. Once I get going this should be quick.
Windscreen is nice just a little folded sheet of perspex. Nicely in scale. Some nice detail and some will need
redone but for a few pounds that's OK. Don't think I'll bother scratch building an X-43 there is enough work in
this kit.

Hi everybody. I took a look at the web, to see if any record breaking aircraft could fin into my plan of Swedish fighters. I've ruled the J 29 Tunnan out since the Neomega 1:48 cost a sh-tload and my hobby budget won't allow it.
Anyway I found this.
And as far as I can see it's still not broken. Anybody know more about that? I have once failed miserably with a old Classic Airframes CR 42, but if I find another - Im in!

Hi Tony
Classic Airframes brought out a new-tool kit of their CR.42 a couple of years ago - see the Review. It's a big improvement over their original and much more buildable. Alternatively, you could go for the Italeri kit - again a new-tool and much more mainstream. See that Review Here.
All the best

Great Rowan. You're a great Elf bringing such info. I guess the Italeri suits me just fine, since the struts seem to have nice locations. The engine doesn't matter, since I still have the CA-beauty in a box.
Now I just hope Santa has these in his Ruovaniemi stash.
Thanks
Tony.

I got started on my 104. When I start a new build, I usually begin with things like the drop tanks, that come in halves. That way I can get then together and sanded. I am using an Aires interior, so I got that primed and ready. This is the first time I have done the Hasegawa F-104. Great kit.

I washed my SkyRay, and sat down to test fit the major assemblies. It is Tamiya's 1/72 scale kit . I was really pleasantly surprised by the overall fit. I usually am a "prop" man, and only have maybe two jet aircraft in my case, but this is looking like a really fun build...may have to rethink my opinion of jets. Painting of the sub-assemblies and wheel- wells next, and then, maybe some pics.
Cheers,
Mike
