Thanks guys , I'm still waiting to here from them , but I will call them as well . If I get no where with them then the kit will be returned to my LHS for a refund . This kit was just released so I'm sure the whole batch will be like this . So I will must not be getting another one .
Yes Steffen it is the Eduard kit just box under AM . I have the Der rote kit already . Must impressive .

The post Lady was by and gave me a new kit ! Okay maybe not new . It's Eduards first release of the Fokker D.VIII 1/48 . Don't care for the lozenge so these will be replace .

Postie's had a busy morning at Castle Aeroscale too. Eduard have kindly went us these beauties to Review:





and Jay Laverty at Mastercasters equally kindly sent a selection of his Warpigs pigments. I'll be trying them out on my Zero later this week.

Revell's new 1/72 Lanc just got delivered by postie. He must be thoroughly cheesed off with the amount of plastic he has moved today!

Will be started as soon as the Defiant and the 109 are out the way.

GOOD NEWS , GOOD NEWA , I just got of the phone with accurate miniatures and they will be sending out the the missing trees for my 190 kit ! should have the trees in about three weeks .

Well went to the Medway show over the weekend and picked up these stunners.

Hi Luciano

Nice buy!! Have those too. Try to find the Cooper details sets for the Grand Phoenix Firefly kit (it is the same mould) .. I was lucky and found them on a show quite reasonable despite the Vac canopy.

We have discussed the Eduard kit here ...

There are several threads at HS forums by Jim Robbins how to correct the FM-2 ....

today I got our new IPMS mag .. new layout, all colour and my 110 on the cover (small but it is there ... ) . .. yeah I know, shameless ...



also waiting at the local book shop:



Sometimes I just need something that enlightens my poor existence ... starving a week is no problem in exchange

hope another parcel will arrive later today ... with some MIG stuff I bought last month. I am keen to watch the new DVD. The first one was a hit!

Or you just check out the review (plus thread) over at Armorama .. As far as I get it without seeing the DVD It is just about getting a natural/realistic looking colour with all kind of variations, shadows and so on ... so no plain OD/NG but a living a/c colour

besides it is really funny watching Miguel beating Adam with a showel (was in pt.1)

O.K. now that I've seen it, I think it is a bit more than what I've written above.

There is a style in figure painting when you assume the model is lighted from above and paint your model accordingly .. creating lights and shadows (also sometimes where it would not happen with just light from above)

This style is used for tanks in this case .. pretty amazing but also very much a matter of taste .. but that's why it is called a style instead of a technique. The DVD describes the way from plain plastic to the finished model so you get more info than just color modulation .. again the intro is very funny .. I think Miguel must be in some kind of "family business" .. he makes a convincing mafioso

It sounds interesting. I'd have been surprised if it was simply a question of tinting and shading the base coat to vary the appearance of panels although, as you can tell, I never even bother trying to keep up with changing terminology (you know how good I am with names... ) - what we were taught at art college is still fine by me. LOL!

I used to know an armour / figure modeller doing something similar back in the '80s, simulating light on his models. The results on his figures was great (especially on some "flats", where the trompe d’oeil shadows were quite uncanny but, by his own admission, less so on his AFVs, because natural light tended to "fight" his painted effect. The nearest I do to anything like it is on interiors, shading the underside of raised details on sidewalls to try to give the impression of light from above.

Honestly I think this is "alter Wein in neuen Schläuchen" but I see this DVD series not so much as New Techniques Tutorial, but just as a How to. Adam goes into great detail how to handle an Airbrush and so on .. so it is pretty basic in the beginning. Then follows such stuff as you mentioned above ... so all in all nothing really new. The lighting effects are of course not limited to "light from above" but you can highligh everything you want. The big advantage is that you see the effects slowly building up or better to say fading back .. the contrast is pretty harsh in the beginning.

I like the DVDs because the are funny, the English is very good, clean and easy to understand, the techniques are explained well and the price is really good ... not compared to a movie but to other hobby products.
