This arrived today (at a good price) I'm going to try printing my own lozenge camouflage.

Hi Martin
If you do - and it works... write a Feature about it for us!
Steffen - Great haul! I can't condone going short of real essentials for a month for the sake of new kits, but great buys, nevertheless!
All the best

Been a while since I posted here (as I've sworn off getting any new kits), But our friends at Casemate sent me a package today with some outstanding selection.
Looks as though I have my work cut out for me, lots of reading to do. At first blush I must say the He 162 book is outstanding, a must have for those building or interested in the subject. The Allied Rotorcraft book is also great, the Gulf War book is more text oriented and will take a while to give a statement on.

Here is what came today:
the paint is for the F-5E, the Exhausts for the I-16 type 17 (it seemed to me it is the same layout as the type 10). Pappy will be a great companion for the new Tamiya pilots and the decals are from Diego Rogoz of Hi-Decal Line for review (which I will do soon .. hopefully).

Hi there
Postie called while I was out today, so I've just picked up a very interesting package from the post office - Platz's new Global Hawk :
Chuck - Great stuff! They look really interesting!
Steffen - I'm afraid Type 10 exhausts shouldn't fit a Type 17. The latter had a paired exhausts just under the wing root to make room for the cut-out for a ski-undercarriage, so there were only three openings each side (instead of four).
All the best

Hi Rowan
Thank you for the hint! but I do not think that is a problem! The fuselage halfs are the same. I checked the instructions beforehand and there are also the same pipes to be used so I'll just cut away the lowermost pipes and it should be fine ... I think

Not a bad haul today!!
£17.99 for the Churchill from Modelzone should be £32.99,I fell in there on the way back to the car from the flicks this afternoon
Mrs Torchy's Amazon account works a treat for the two books
The Graf Spee is a stunner, wooden decks and more PE than you can shake a stick at!!!

Hi Steffen
Yes, reposition the bottom pipes to make a layout of "2-1-2" each side. Otherwise, are the Quickboost exhausts much better than Eduard's, or do they just save drilling them out?

Hi Rowan
Well, of course I am lazy and these plastic parts are really fiddly. I save the time for cleaning them up and drilling. So for me these are worth the extra ~5 Euro spent just for the time saved and the will look much better than my attempt would.
as always this is a matter of personal taste. I also like to buy the eduard masks just because they save a lot of time.
all the best

P.S.
from time to time I browse my link list of manufacturers and yesterday I found this one:
at Belcher Bits website. I think I will get me one of these next month.

Hi Steffen
That does look cute! (and probably more useful as an obvious aircraft accessory than a certain Japanese bulldozer...)

Last week was quite successful in hunting and collecting for me
On Thursday arrived a big parcel from my dealer with some new drugs The F6F-5 Weekend is for my 1million Hellcat decals and will probably become another FAA-Hellcat out of the Dual Combo. The Hasegawa Mitsubishi F-1 was really a bargain, as my dealer sold it for 18 Euros (usually nearly the double price), so it was nearly a give-away. I like this scheme a lot and as I have a faible for japanese aircrafts (but more WW 2), this jet will surely land on my workbench this year. The Hobbyboss F-105 "Dora" I ordered together with the "Gustav" for Marc (mark58). That one is already in France and hopefully lies on his wokbench now .....
..... and on the weekend I was - like Steffen - at this nice little expo in Zeiskam and couldn't resist to get these Eduard goodies from the same guy as Steffen. The Fairey Fulmar went into my bag for 25 Euros and the Fw 190 A-6 I grabbed for 23 Euros! These prices are unbeatable even for my dealer.
So finally I got something to do in these long cold winter evenings .....
Happy modelling
Torsten

A visit to a hobby shop netted me a Bf108B 1/48 Eduard Profipack for £9, second hand but all there, much less than half price. I also acquired the less inspiring Revell 1/28 Camel and Triplane double kit for less than £15, unfortunately all the kit is worth, the Eduard 1/48 Camel is far better and not much more expensive

Hi there
Wow! Happy Birthday to me! The Wingnuts Pup didn't arrive in time for the big day (it was always a long shot), but just look what Postie brought today, courtesy of our friends at ICM!
I've also got a nice boxed set of previously unreleased Hendrix recordings, so I'll have plenty to listen to while I drool over the Henschel!
All the best

Hi again
some days ago I stumble upon another interesting vehicle at Lucky. This is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of my budget but sure it is most interesting
Dtoys M978
(more pix at LuckyModel)
I ordered the M1151 conversion set for Tamiyas HMMWV (which is expensive enough)
all the best
Steffen
P.S. not affiliated and I won't get a free kit for the ad ... too bad

Hi Steffen
Not my area of interest, but VERY tasty! I see what you mean about the price though... Ouch! But that sort of resin quality can't be done cheaply.

I came back from Tokyo yesterday evening. Here are a couple of souvenirs...
Unfortunately I spent only a couple of days there and didn't have enough time to go to Akihabara to visit Radio Kaikan, so I went to Yodobashi at Shinjuku and got Tamiya's long-talked 1/48 Zero at a very interesting price, 2680 Yen, which is about €21.70. Definitely better than the price I would have payed in Italy!
Very nice kit, looking forward to build it! Unfortunately they didn't have the detail set in stock!
Before leaving from the hotel I went to the Metropolitan Govt. Building in Shinjuku (you can see a beautiful panorama of the city from the top, and the entrance is free!), and I found a nice bookshop which also sold some local aviation magazines, so I got JWings. I don't have any idea about what's written on it, but the photos looked great and couldn't resist getting it!
This issue featured articles concerning some JASDF bases and the USAF and USN bases in Japan.
A nice feature: you read it from left to right, like Manga comics!

Hi again
Well, I've treated myself to two kits for the month and one has arrived today:
Now I just need Postie to deliver the Wingnuts RNAS Pup and I'll be a very happy fellow.
All the best
