Very nice work! I especialluı like the squiggly camo on the Junkers. Good airbrushing.
Btw, is this an operational or a training vehicle? Just wondering about the regular nose of the Ju 88, as most pics I've seen have bomb-delivering aircraft fitted with the longer nose.
The wheels look a bit monotonic to me. IMHO, A black wash and/or some dirtying would be an ideal finishing touch.
I'm ready for priming (which I did yesterday with mr. surfacer 1000):
Before grabbing the spray can, I added a few last details:
- filled in the locator hole in the belly loop antenna mount and made a new loop from brass wire
- prepared the landing gear parts: added brake lines & replaced drag link mounts on u/c legs, added air valves to main wheels

That's it, I think this campaign's over for me.
I don't think there's a way I could finish either of my entries in time.
Eaglecal spinner spirals don't like me, and I detest them.
This is the second time I mess up with them (well, if you count the numerous ruined decals from the A8 sheet as a single mess-up...).
First I made the mistake of putting the propeller assembly together before decaling, then believing they would behave and fit this time. I was wrong. I quickly discovered that they still don't fit well (designed for Tamiya's spinner perhaps?), and with the prop blades in the way my attempt was doomed from the start. Damn.

Hi Eetu
a spinner can't be a problem. Mask it and airbrush the markings or handpaint it or just leave it unicolour until you get a replacement ... nobody will know
come one .. no mistakes, just happy little accidents Do not think about the problem, but about a solution!
good luck

Happy little accidents... it sure didn't feel like that when I realised that nor did the decal want to fit and the prop blades were in the way.
Looking at it now after good night's sleep, you're absolutely right, I'll just leave the spinner like that, black and glossy until I get it fixed.
Handpainting a white spinner spiral would surely result in one ruined spinner and a bunch of very lively swearing by me...
While we're at it, does any manufacture make replacement spinners? Or even better, the whole prop/spinner combination?
Also, I remember Eduard making spinner spiral masks, but I can't recall if they were available in 1:72. I've better go check it out...
Edit: looks like they had generic spiral masks in the express mask range, but they're canceled. The good new kind has generic, 190A/F and 190D spiral masks in 1:48 and 1:32, but not in 1:72. Bummer.

Hi Eetu
yeah, I know .. there are days when you loose and days when the others win. I am very negative myself and thus it is important to keep the spirit one or another way.
I do not think you will find fitting spirals. It is a multiply curved surface you want to put a flat decal on! you will always have to make cuts and good use of decal solvent to get rid of the wrinkles. Sadly I am not very well informed about the 72 scale market. In 48 there is a Superscale Fw190 stencil set that has some different spirals included. Honestly in most cases I have to hand paint parts of the spirals ... and I neither like it nor am I very good at that. Also the masks will have some problems to lay flat on the surface ....
Anyway, proceed with the build and put on a spiral later. You have my vote to let it count for the campaign.

To the campaign leaders:
on the campaign page still is the first ribbon. Do you intend to keep that one?
I still like this one by Mike

I'm in agreement... is it mutinous to ask to switch ribbons at this point?
(though i did notice that ribbon exceeds the stated maximum file size for ribbons by about a factor of 2...)

Hi all,
Since the mood is at Mutiny, can I ask for a small extension for this campaign? I need one more week to get my Fw 190 V1 done. I thought I could finish it by the deadline but I won't make it... I need a few days more...
Jean-Luc
P.S. I too think that the above ribbon is better...

Hi Jean-Luc
Go Forrest go ... even though the campaign is already off the campaign site. hope the guys still cam extend it, but as you have already signed it should be no problem that you get the ribbon
Mutiny .. what an ugly thought ... we discussed the ribbon already early in the thread and I though we agreed on Mikes Ribbon design (BTW it cannot be that hard to put a compression on the img) but on the campaign page still is the first "preliminary" ribbon ... Carl .. Jesper?
cheers

Ok, I'm declaring it done in so far as the campaign is concerned. I still need to do a few things to it, but that won't be till next month or so, and she is presentable now. I need better photos, but is was rainy out (FOR ONCE!!!) and I won't have time tomorrow. I hope the fact that I posted 3 minutes late won't count me out!

She looks very nice, Vance!!
May i ask what version that is? A-7? I am just a bit puzzled because of the pitot position (also looks a tad short) plus bulged Mg covers .. you know me, I just can't keep my mouth shut
Interesting camo ...

Doch ja!
She's an A-7 alright. started from the Tamiya A-8, put the louvers back on the engine vents, filled some panel lines (that were for the A-8's extra fuel tank), repositioned the pitot tube, and used some earlier wheels from True Details to get a semi-accurate A-7.
I was a tad concerned about the length of the pitot, but decided to use what the kit had in the new position anyway since i am not going to have any more time to work on it anytime soon.
Going with the A-7 was the only way to get both the bulged covers on the nose and checkers!
plus I thought that Tamiya way overstated the bulges for the outer wing 30mm cannons for the A-8 and didn't want to use them...
anyway, thanks for the compliment on my work. =)

As I wrote Nice model!!
Another question re colours. Do you use Vallejo for the RLM colours? Their RLM 74 has a very blue hue while I think it should be more towards green (like e.g. Gunze) .. .might be an effect of the flash though ...
to bad you cannot model for a whole month ... that is quite a time.

I am almost finished, just glued on the antenna wire. Weather is really bad outside, so I can't take decent pictures until it clears out.
I wish just for a small extension, I probably can upload photos here tomorrow at the lastest.

It's all done just needs photographed.

It looks so. I was also thinkin the end date was the last day of the campaign, not the actual deadline. Well, that's irrelevant now, as I've managed to get my D9 to the stage where I have the canopy frames painted the interior color and the yellow tail & cowling underside plus the fuselage band done. No way I could get it done today.
That extension wouldn't be that bad an idea...

I used model master and Sangyo Gunze acrylic paints. The flash did change the color color a bit, as did my fading process. Also, the act of putting the dark-green over the RLM 74 made it look a lot more like just gray and less like gray-green, especially in photos (at which point I quit worrying about it).
As for not modeling, I can hopefully sneak in enough time before leaving on my vacation to wrap up my T-38 for the two-seater campaign, but then I am gone from mid August to Mid-September to help build a rather large 1-1 scale structure (a 3 story, 20 meter high "temple" dedicated to the different cultures of the world for a 50,000 person festival called Burningman) in the middle of the Black Rock desert in Nevada (the salt flats where the land speed records are set). I'm part of a 100 person team doing this (we've been working on it for 3 months already by now), and at the end of the festival, we get to blow it up (literally) and watch it burn it down! (and then clean it up...)
So that should at least take care of my need to build things while i am not modeling!
