Oh by the way did anyone here saw or built the Dragon 1/72 P-38 Night Lightning ? What is it like? I generaly like Dragon's 1/72 kits. Hard to fit but if you understand their language they don't fail you:] Is this that sort of kit too?

Hello Yalym:
No insult taken it is fun to laugh oneself, glad to have you aboard, we all grow older and it is fun to remember those kits of yesterday. The P-38 was 1/48 scale, the P-70 was 1/72 and I want to say it was Revell of 1968, I could be wrong with the mind not working at times. Maybe the Monogram P-38 would be a grand effort to see if I can still ply through the problems of a bad kit and make something that will be proud to have in the collection. Yalym I have no idea on the Dragon P-38, I have not seen it so some one else will have to give you advice, how about it Jesper? Do you have any knowledge on Dragons 1/72 P-38?
Robert:-?

Yalym:
I have built that kit for a friend of mine that serviced the type in WW2. The fit is not that bad and I believe it was fairly acurate. The only issues were:
1. Weak cockpit detail
2. The plastic has a rough surface texture( at least on my example) Nothing some minor sanding and polishing can't take care of before paint.
Hope it helps

Robert,
the kit was purchased at a garage sale a few years back and is complete except for decals. If I can find the right decals somewhere I'd like to do the VMF(N)-532. This would make it a land based plane flying from Tarawa and later from Siapan. Figured this one would give me a chance to try out my weathering skills I've picked up here at Aeroscale. This bird will be worn, used, sun baked, and dirty dirty dirty!

Hello All:
Since Jesper created such a magnificient banner titled Night Stalkers and the Campaign was called Rumblings in the Dark, it has been confusing for others. The name of the campaign has been changed to Night Stalkers, a much more fitting moniker. Steffen I remember that you did not relish the original name and had suggested others, this title will be more to everyones liking.

Hi everyone,
Being a sucker for 1/72 kits, I thought I'd offer this little beauty I've had in my stash for a while:
Also noticed there's been no suggestion for a campaign ribbon, here's an idea i came up with. It's a radar screen which I think is relevant to a night fighter campaign. What do you think?
All the best,
Mike.

Mike nice kit to build and lets put the ribbon to a vote, since there may be other suggestions.

While I haven't sign up as yet, I probably will before too long as I have a plethora of night fighter subject on the shelves. I like the ribbon suggestion too. Nothing says night fighter like a radar screen. "Q"

Only thing wrong with that ribbon is it's not on my profile page yet. Great choice Mike.

Hi everybody.
I decided to join in after finding this one. An Airfix Mossie in Revell box. Feels weird with 1:72, but 1:72 bombers and 1:48 fighters fit the same shelf nicely.
I think I comply with all rules, but I guess I'll have to search a bit to be sure.
The XIX was designed as a night fighter.
It was bought to sweden as a night fighter.
The deliveries took place -48-49, so I'm before Korea.
But...if we ever intercepted the red stars over the baltic sea at night, I don't have a clue.
I'm in anyway.
Tony

Tony no problem, the Mosquito fits the bill. I have a special place for mosquitos, they look nice and can do the job along with many others. One great airplane/legend.

May I make model of a Fokker D. VII that was used for night intercepting by Jasta 73? Althought they weren't designed for nightfighting and they wore day fighter scheme, but they were constantly used for night operation. This caught my eye as being something totally different.
I planned using Rodens superb 1:48 Fokker D.VII

This sounds like a great idea! Is it too late to sign on? I was thinking about an IAF Meteor but it looks like that's taken. How about a Beaufighter?
I understand we don't start building until March?
Looking forward to it!

Welcome aboard! It's not too late to sign, you can sign till the end. (ofc you can't really finish your model if you sign on last day ) You shouldn't start building before the campaign officially starts. It is ok to have two models of a same subject.

Thanks Tuomas for the help, I have been preparing to return to college and have not been on this thread daily.
@Tuomas: the D VII would be a great build.
@Michael: the rules read:
1. any a/c that was used for a nocturnal interception at least once.
2. any nation.
3. WW I to the Korean War. (1914 to 1954)
4. at least some documentation that the markings were used at night.
Toumas has answered your question as to the time frame, glad to have you aboard.

Morning all (at least it is here!) Has this campaing been officially accepted yet? Also, do we have to make a final decision on what we're going to build before we start? I have a couple of interesting ideas in mind but haven't entirely settled yet.
Thanks!
Michael
Thanks!
