I haven't quite decided what to build for this one. Maybe a Monogram F11C-2 converted into a BFC-2? That would be my first choice. Time will tell - once I finish some of these other in-progress kits...

Hi all!

For once, I knew exactly what to build for this Campaign!

It´s big, not very pretty but have lots of brute force and of course it´s British!

I´m talking about the Blackburn S.2B Buccaneer, or "the Brick" as It´s affectionally called by its pilots!
In South Africa it was also known as the "Easy Rider" due to its excellent handling during low-level flight.

This kit have been on my "must build" pile long enough, so here goes;

I know this kit is not really up to date and it´s supposed to be a rather difficult build, but I have seen some beautiful builds too.

This will be a "all-inclusive" build with these after market items;

Neomega Cockpit, the detail here must be seen to be believed!

Bulged wheels from Paragon;

Flaps from paragon;

Interior etch from Eduard, won´t use very much from this as the cockpit will be replaced by the Neomega.

Exterior etch from Eduard;

New decals from the Aviation Workshop, better quality then Airfix own and some other options and schemes!

My choice is the smart grey/white scheme seen in the middle here;

Let´s cut some plastic!

Cheers!

Hi All,

Fresh from the Swing Wing Campaign, I'm signing up for this one with a 1/48 Trumpeter Seahawk FGA MK6.

Good to see some others doing FAA aircraft as well, for a while there it was looking like the USN was going to have a monopoly over this campaign. Though i personally believe that the Seahawk is no where near ugly or weird enough to be a proper FAA aircraft...

I'm probably a week away from getting started on the Skua.

Good luck with the buc. I have one partially built and I finally put it away. Seeing yours may give me the courage to try it again someday

perfect. plenty of helping hands.

i went to the hobby shop and got xtracrylics glossy sea blue, dark sea grey, sky and white.
I've never used them before but hear good things about them.

So I'm all set for either the corsair or the wyvern. Must say the corsair will be quicker,
but the wyvern will be more fun but only if i've got time. I've got a wingfold set, quickboost
exhausts and interior and exterior pe for the wyvern that i'd love to test myself with.

saw a massive bucc in the model shop mustve been 1/32 or bigger. i'd love to
do something like that but space dictates.

Started sanding on the HC Sea Fury to minimize the the trench works they used for panel lines. I love sanding so

Jaypee: My vote is for the Wyvern with all those goodies

Folks,
Well, after looking over my stash of unbuilts, I settled on a Sweet FM-2 Wildcat for this campaign. (Way too many Hellcats to go that way ! ). Even though this is a 1/144th model, we'll see what I can or can not do with it. It might be interesting.

Looking forward to seeing the builds. Semper Fi .............................Bruce

It's all go from today on the Skua. Meant to be a difficult one this kit, so we'll see. One disapointment with this kit is no bomb...surely a resin bomb would not have burnt the budget? Anyway, i also have the SH hi-tech version of the Barracuda which has a full compliment of resin underwing stores. Maybe i'll steal a bomb out of that kit, since i plan to build the Barracuda with a torpedo anyway.

Well since we are all near to start. Here are my goodies.
Trumpeter 1/72 Wyvern, quickboot exhaust, pavla ratog, airwaves wingfold
eduard zoom set and xtracrylics paint picked up all this for £24, so this
will be the most expensive build I've ever made.

trumpeter wyvern

The kit is so crisply molded I may not even need the ratog and wingfold set.

Some more snaps. click for more detail
trumpeter wyverntrumpeter wyvern
trumpeter wyverntrumpeter wyvern

Probably will read the instructions for this (something I never do) and start on Monday.

Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen

I'm fairly new to this forum, and frankly have not modeled in plastic for awhile. This campaign really caught my attention, and I thought it would be alot of fun to enlist, and give it a solid go. This would be my first campaign/public showing ever.
Due to my modeling inexperience in comparison to the expert, I thought I might enter a subject that is a little less difficult. I'm leaning toward a Trumpeter 1/48 Sea Fury carrying Canadian Naval colors.
I hope I can give you good people an interesting offering!

I'm fairly excited about this campaign, so I thought I would try and upload an image of what I'll be using for this build. Really hope it works out, as this is my first time adding a photo.

Welcome to Aeroscale and the campaign, Guy. I'm not participating in this one, but I tend to pop in here and there anyway. It's a great bunch of people (source of tips and tricks ) here, so you're never alone.

Good luck with the SeaFury Tony

Hi all!

I have started the build in earnest and here comes the first part of the ”build-blog”.

As usual the first task was to cut off all resin parts from the moulding plugs.
Easy and quickly done as there’s hardly any plugs on the Neomega parts and the flaps and wheels were just as easy to cut loose.

Then I pained the cockpit with H145, slightly lightened with H127 (about 75/25 ) as the cockpit would have been very dark when installed in the aircraft.

Now the details are popping out in the Cockpit!

I have only dry-fitted the bulkhead for the pics, I have to paint it completely before adding glue!

The Bang seats are also very well detailed!

Now I had to do some mods to the fuselage to fit the new cockpit and HUD.
Carefully, I removed the HUD to fit the new one.

Here you can compare the old Airfix ”HUD” (light blue) with the new Neomega one!

On the inside of the upper fuselage there were some spars that had to be removed, done in 5min.

More cutting was needed to fit the new flaps.
Not very difficult but it took some time as you have to be very careful to get a good tight fit.

Starboard side is done;

Finally I glued all subassemblies as wings, stabilizator, fin, tanks, pods, missiles and other thingies together before I had to paint.

Now we have left the port and are going to sea!
Listen, can´t you hear the theme from the TV-series "Sailor" with Rod Stewart singing Sailing?

Cheers!

Stefan E

Hey JP,

I've been toying with the idea of joining this campaign for a while now and resisted because I have alot on my plate when it comes to campaigns, .... and then my wife has only gone and bought my an Eduard Hellcat as a present ...

I'd really like to join in the fun, as my first campaign effort - as long as you guys don't mind my amateurish building ability and streaky brush painting stinking up your thread!

Have made a start on my entry, Italeri's 1/48 TBM Avenger. Bit rough looking but a bit of cleaning up to come on the painting. Hope you like it, any feedback welcome

Like I said, a bit more weathering inside and fixing up where my shaky hands failed me. ;-)

This one obviously dry fitted.

Dammit, I've got to join in. I can't resist. Carrier ops are surely the coolest form of aviation ever!

Going to the stash, I chose this beauty:-

I've heard really good things about these kits. Let's have a look inside the box :-

Very nice. The real rubber tyres are a new one on me. Two canopies, one sealed up, one in pieces for opening - I like that. I'm really going to have to try and do this thing justice!

Avenger looks good so far Nick,nice painting on those instrument panels,not my strong point,good luck on your build.
I got my Wyvern going,strictly OOB but it's going good so far,it is an interesting looking plane,kit is going together nicely, no major problems,too lazy to take the camera out,maybe some pictures soon.
