Almost missed this one. Nice 1/144 work there, my eyes don't like things that small. Better late than never, started the Sea Harrier (Tamiya, 1/48). First time I have built a Tamiya kit and I was quite surprised by the lack of detail in the cockpit, this was to be an OOB build but now I am waiting for a detail set, and after looking at the air intakes, I think they need replacing too. Moulds are crisp with no flash, but the plastic is soft. I expected better, the Ertl Hun was a better kit and that was 1/72 scale. After dry fitting the wings, engine and assembling the weapons hard points I have to say I am impressed by the fit, not much filler required on this one! Enough moans, no pics until the detail kit arrives, hopefully soon as time is short

Nice one Andrew. I'm still way behind on my build so if you need an extension I'll happily do that. Anyone else?
It really wouldn't be a carrier plane GB without a Harrier.

Can't beleive that is 1/144 Bruce; very nice looking F-18F
Well, I managed to finally finish my entry, not real happy with the finish of it; especially the decals, but at least I had fun with it and learnt a few new tricks for next time. Now for the other campaigns I'm in...

JP, I'll bite; for the extension that is. This being my first aircraft build in ages has had me running into all kinds of problems that are a combination of frustrating and time consuming. After five armour builds this change in direction proved to be quite a change. I have a vacation period this month so maybe I can make the deadline but a little breathing space might be nice to compinsate for all the unexpected that have been happening.
Cheers,
Jan

Well done Nick, whether you are happy with the finish you did a sterling job on the construction.
Shame the decals silvered a bit, If you haven't varnished it try some microsol of one of the decals
to see if it removes the silvering. The interior was first rate.
The avenger is sure a complex kit I had a quick peek at mine in the stash, I did go out and get one
based on your build actually.

MY build has gone pretty fast so far.
I'm working on Hasegawa's 1/48 A6M5a.
I stopped progress to wait for some canopy masks i ordered to come in.
fantastic (almost TOO easy) kit that only needed work a the rear bottom wing to fuselage fit and some on the rear of the canopy.

Well some progress on my diminutive Tomcat. Interior is done and front section attached. While not the worst kit it has presented me with challenges. Mould seems on miniscule parts are a true nightmare to remove. The tail hook was bent and had to be straightened, a couple Phoenix missile mounts were warped and mounting holes that were supposed to be there weren't. Geee, I am having so much fun with this build. Anyway, here's a progress shot.
At this rate I can't see finishing it by the deadline.
Cheers,

that's the great thing with deadlines. They can always be moved.
Esp when the campaign admin builds at a glacial pace and is easily distracted.
1st Dec is the new deadline. Thats like 6 weeks away, not that that is an excuse
for slacking, back at it Jan you are doing a grand job.

Quick progress report on the Shar, Tamiya fits are pretty good with no filler used yet. The Aeroclub seat turned out several mm taller than the Tamiya original so the cockpit floor had to be lowered in the fuselage. The eduard fittings kit is well up to standard although the debacle with the seat spotted AFTER the fuselage was joined (fortunately not completely) when it looked wrong and I dryfitted the canopy, to find the seat in the way. Build back on course and I am thinking about the first coats of white paint under the fuse and wings, now also assembled.
1st December here I come

Thanks Anthony; yeah it is the Italeri's re-boxing of the Acurate Minatures kit. Not too sure bout the painting on it but, should have used a steadier hand
Justin, I keep learning new tricks on here, the landing gear bout the only thing I was happy with
Jaypee; your too kind. The kit actually went together really well, little to no filling on it. The inside was a bit fiddly but came together nicely. Highly recommend getting hold of some masks for her, especially around the turret. No close ups there Would do another one again anytime.

JayPee, my most heartfelt thanks for the extension. Now if only the kit will cooperage. Can't say that I'm not a little bit envious of the progress and nice builds many in this campaign are experiencing. Now to tackle cutting the main undercarriage doors into the required three pieces each. Smooth building to all!
Cheers,
Jan

Hmm.... cough .... Did someone mention extension?
Last minute with me as always. Eduard Hellcat cockpit:
And ready to be primed, hopefully at some point during the week. The base is also from Eduard but I've cut it down to a better size and plan to mount it on a wooden frame:
Mike.

Thanks Todd. Good to see a helicopter down safe. That link doesn't
work but I've taken the liberty of posting a couple your gallery photos here.
What mods did you make to the kit?
