Just a quick update. Got all the decals on now and another few coats of future over the top ready for the little pieces and some weathering. Enjoy
Its the kits decals and went down pretty well despite being Academy No issues at all with them.

Looks good Nick. I built the Academy kit years ago. It was lots of fun till I got to the invasion stripes. They bombed, looks you had a much better set.
Allen, I would have never considered the egg kits. You've turned out a beauty.

Nice progress, Nick. You were very lucky or very skilled with the Academy decals - or both. They are normally a major hazzle to do.
Looking forward to see more

Ran into the first snag with the old kit.
The part for the little door aft of the intake is missing. (I suppose that could be my fault, but I really tore the place looking for it with no luck.)
I've started scratchbuilding out of a styrene sheet. Two triangular pieces form the sides, and another square with slightly rounded sides will form the bottom.
I'm pretty hopeless at scratchbuilding, so here's hoping this turns out ok.

Door finished. Yeah, it isn't pretty. Still, it could have been worse.

Nice recovery. IIRC, my Hawk P-51D has the door, but to top to the tunnel, I may have to figure out how to add it....

Hi there Nick
You did a great job on your cockpit. I'm doing the same kit. Looks like we both used the same seatbelt trick. You did a far better job on the panel dials than I did. Very well done. Thumbs-up job.

Very nice cockpit, Nick. I will try to do my cockpit as well as yours, although you have put the bar high.
Not much to show yet, but I have finally started and decided not to use the pilot who looks a little misshapen.
More to follow.

I must say Nick , you have come along way in your skills ever since you joined the site !
Are you going to do the fuel gauges in the floor as well like the instrument panel ? Also the weathering looks good in the pit , but the floor was not metal , but plywood so metal would not be showing in the areas where paint is worn .
Your doing a super job so keep up the excellent progress and I look forward to your next up-date !

Thank you very muck Ms. Terri (I have posted the finished P-39 give it a look please )
I forgot to paint the floor gauges but fortunately they are not visible in the closed fuselage
The floor was already wrong by tamiya (Curbed, represending the surface of the upper wing)
Cheers Nick

Well, my kit is actually a Tamiya kit. So the pilot is the Tamiya pilot. Apparently they have several different Mustang kits with different pilots.
More to come.

Mark, what a beautiful build. She came out great.
@Nick, great job so far. I think Warren was commenting on the fuel gauges.
