OK. So, I'm signed up for too many campaigns and really don't feel like working on any of the models I'm supposed to. The obvious solution, of course, is: join another one!
I've done an Israeli Spitfire with the Pacific Coast kit and an Avia with the Hasegawa 109G and a resin conversion, I guess it's time to do a P-51. The plan, such as it is:
Sorry about how unfocused it is, guess that's my problem. But the headline does mention the "July job picture", so hopefully that's proof of non-startedness.
And:
Thinking of doing the second one during the '48 war.
Is anyone else already planning this?

Hi all!
This is the kit I have chosen for this Campaign!
It’s the Trumpeter kit, but I will add some small “thingies”, as follows;
New decals from Warbird, and one Mustang I have wanted to do for quite a time now; a red-tailed Little Friend from the “Tuskagee Airmen”!
I have chosen to do “Ina the Macon Belle”, aircraft no.72, 332nd FG, Red tail, spinner and wingtips, with yellow wingbands and yellow/red striped noseband.
Trumpeter’s cockpit is quite good, but wrong for a –B, It’s more of a mix between a –B and a –D model.
So I got an Aires B-pit;
The wheel wells are wrong, as they are on every mustang model out there.
The wells do not follow the shape of the hatches, and ends at the edges, but extends all the way to the wing spar!
With this one-piece set from Aires, You’ll get the correct shape!
I always use Eduard’s etch on every build in the larger scale (1/32), this will not be an exception;
I loathe those rubber tires Trumpeter supplies, so I got a new set from Mastercasters, cheap and wonderfully detailed, and just enough weighted!
Let’s Saddle up!
Cheers!

Also,
And last (just ignore the old guy in the picture )
Hope this helps

Here I am with the Tamiya P-51 B.
I'm going it slow now because I have to finish the P-39 first
I drilled the exhausts
And some minor details
Cheers Nick

Hi Bruce!
Nice to see ya (I guess it´s you in the last picture)!
Thanks a lot for those pics!
Nice to see that she survived the war!
Even tough my model will be somewhat more weatherbeaten and dull, It´s pure inspiration to see her "in the flesh"!
Many Thanks again!
Cheers!

Scrap, I almost made some progress this weekend. Had to re-do the bulkhead and seat. Once that was right I started to true up the fuselage so I could close it up. Then I remembered the instrument panel. I've spent 3-6 hours scouring all around the modeling table, inside a couple of likely hiding places and -- no joy. I guess the only way the floor monster is going to give this one back is if I scratch build a new panel. Fortunately there's a decal to cover up my meager talents.

Weeeeeh, that Trump-Mustang, huh? Man, that's an intimidating kit. Will follow it closely, so I can have one before Tamiya is doing their magic on the B....
O.K, what I've been up to:
One of my mottoes:
Build british. It's soothing.

Almost back on track. Used the kit decal to outline a new control panel. Cut it out, trimmed to fit and painted it black. I might be back in business over the weekend.....

Terri,
I can always squeeze in another one, besides the two that I'm working on now. That is, if I'm allowed to come and play....

It was flat black in the end probably the wrong colour but hey ho it looks good. Thanks guys glad to have finally been able to get on with it and get it finished

Any chance someone could set up the P-51 Campaign pic Gallery, as currently there is nothing for it under 2010 campaigns

Another paint / finish question.
I've seen P-51 gear doors painted interior green and silver / NMF. Any ideas on which is more correct?
I'm sure that those ground crews in WWII spent so much time repairing, refueling and rearming their charges, that they didn't have time to record the truly important details about their planes. So I'm really looking for the consensus, not absolute historical accuracy.
