Hi all, I'm back with another Campaign proposal, but this time you can't blame me alone. Torsten (BlackWidow) and I have been talking about a WWII Heavy Fighter Campaign (since we both have a bunch in our stashes). The theme would be World War 2 Heavy Fighters (Twin Engine), and there are heaps of possibilities, 110, 210, 410, P-38, P-61, P-70, Ki 45, Mossie, Whirlwind, Beaufighter.
We would be looking at a start in 2011 and at least 8 months run time.
Just throwing it out there, ideas, advice, suggestions, who's interested ??
Cheers all, Damian and Torsten

yes yes yes, i've two 1/48 tamiya mossies. boy you can pick these up cheap now the airfix kit is out, both less than a tenner.
and also got a bf110c/d 1/72 fujimi old kit but lovely. There is an SBS build of this in a modelling manual I have, so I'll copy the cockpit from that.
Good test of skills. The mossies should just fall together.

Hi Guys.
This would be my first participation in a campaign. And seeing as until now, the models have been limited to yanks, limey's and krauts (no offence intended). I could be tempted to participate with one of my Pe-3 kits.

Damian I like you proposals very much! I'm in.
Thanks Tuomas, I try to come up with a theme that will appeal to a varied group, and one that has not been covered, at least for a while. Torsten (BlackWidow) and I have been emailing each other regarding P-61's (what a surprise), and got on to the subject of Bf 110's then heavy fighters in general. Before you knw it there's another Campaign proposal out there.
Now it looks like there are a few Campaign proposals in line for early 2011, so can we please get some feedback on start date and run time ? I was thinking March 1 to Sept 30 2011, 8 months as some of these birds will be big and need some detailing.
Also need some more input on Rules and Regs, how are these for starters:
1. Twin Engine Heavy Fighter
2. Must have been OPERATIONAL in World War 2 (i.e. no what-ifs or experimental versions), so documentation must be provided for some of the obscure ones, such as using Strafer-nosed B-25's as a stop-gap night fighter just before the P-61's arrived in the Pacific.
3. Any scale (1/144 to 1/24 - somebody PLEEEEZ do that big Mossie)
4. Any nationality
5. Dioramas allowed but not required
6. A minimum of 2 progress shots must be posted in the official Campaign thread (you can start your own Build Log thread as well)
7. A Campaign Gallery will be created to post pics of completed builds, so a minimum of 2 pics MUST be posted either there OR in the official Campaign thread, or both.
I think that will do for starters, but please let me know if you have any comments.
We are up to 10 interested already, so please keep posting your thoughts and ideas on what should be included as acceptable aircraft. I suppose the Me 262 and Meteor have to be in for those allergic to props.
Thanks for your interest and support,
AussieReg and BlackWidow (from opposite sides of the globe, how cool is that?)

Not new of course. But untouched by sticky fingers. Ebay has been pretty flooded with em.
@Damian. Some of them are small and need some detailing too Time frame is good for me.

I am already saturated with campaigns, so it depends on the dateline. But have the old Revell Bf110 G2, and the (older?) Fujimi Bf 110C/D with Eduard PE. Both 1:48; nothing fancy

Excellent work Andy, you are a champion. Will the duration suit you, it's a monster build ??
Also, I have noted quite a few other Aeroscale Campaigns slated to kick off Jan 1, 2011, are we all happy with the timing or should I push it back a month or so ?
Cheers, D & T

Sorry folks, but I just came by this thread today not knowing that it's already open for over a week So shame on me!
Wow, if I have counted correctly we are already 14 participants! That's a good start, isn't it! The beginning of this campaign in March suits me very well, as I also will take part in the Spitfire and in the P-40 campaigns.
My entries (you know I love double packs!) are these 2 goodies which give the campaign its name
And I found some more aircrafts which could be build here. How about
- Dornier Do 335 Pfeil (Revell/Monogram or Tamiya 1:48)
- Douglas A-26 Invader with its 8 gun nose (Revell/Monogram 1:48)
- Nakajima J1N1 Gekko heavy nightfighter with "Schräge Musik" (Tamiya 1:48)
- Junkers Ju 88 also as heavy nightfighter (Revell/Monogram 1:48)
- Heinkel He 219 Uhu heavy nightfighter with "Schräge Musik" (Tamiya 1:48)
@Andy
I thought my 2 Black Widows in 1:48 will become monsters, or that Revell is crazy bringing out a 1:32 Ju 88 (and now a He 111) - it's really a big bird, but if you build this Mossie it might become the biggest model I've seen so far. Just go for it!
@John-Paul
Yes, this Tamiya 1:48 Mossie falls together by itself! At my dealer here in Germany it was also a bargain in 2008, so I also bought 2 of them. I have built one early last year and you as a Scotsman will like to hear that I built it as a Banff Strike Wing fighter. So enjoy this kit!
So let's bring all these great "Zweimots" (twin engines) in the air and hear the roaring sound!
Happy modelling

If not I also have a Bf 110 in the stash also. So I would be in for this.

Nice, friendly competition or one-upmanship ? Sam is going to do 2 builds, so you commit to doing 3 !! I love it.
Seriously though, any of those 3 are acceptable Allen, thanks for participating.

G'day Stefan, and thanks for your support. That's 17 interested parties including Torsten and myself.
Does anybody have any issues or comments on the rules and regs and timing ? If not, we might have to submit this one shortly and get us official.
Cheers, D&T

Yes, you sure can build these "Zerstörer", Allen! Just read my posting above Thanks for joining us! And I thought about another japanese "Heavy". How about the Mitsubishi Ki-46 III "Dinah" as a heavy dayfighter with its 37 mm canon as "Schräge Musik". Not very succesfull in real but suitable for this campaign. But not the recce-plane! Tamiya has it in its 1:48 program.
Time and rules suit me, Damian. If you like, we can make it official.
Happy modelling
