Photoshop that grass into sea water and no one would know it was a model. Great job

Mark, Jugs did get catapulted into the air from carriers in the Pacific and maybe the Med too. I don't know of any that actually flew for the navy but you always learn new things every day? Russell

Jugs did get catapulted into the air from carriers
Now then, I expected to be told about Doolittle getting B-25's off of the deck of the Hornet without catapults. Even that P-40's got off of the Ranger (very short deck) in Operation Torch. But catapults...they weren't generally installed on carriers till the mid '50's.
Republic was (in) famous for building a/c that required very long runways to get airborne. An 800' carrier deck might not have been enough.

Justin;
That's a super job modelling; very well done. Where do you find the time to be so proficient?
Damien;
Neat P-47 video, but hardly long enough to get through a bag of popcorn.

Justin, that Hawkeye is sick man. I'm really happy for you, but at the same time it does sort of pi** me off that you can turn out models ten times better than mine in like one tenth of the time.
D, the jug is looking sharp man. The dark blue navy scheme is really pulling the idea together too. You gonna stick with the two pegs in the wing fold joint or rig up some kind of swing arm type thingy?

Hermon, you and I are going around to Justin's house and break one of his arms. His builds will still be better than mine, but at least it might slow him down a bit !!
Justin, seriously cool job on the Hawkeye mate !!
Well here's my effort finished, again sorry for the crappy pics but still no camera so the phone has to do . . . . .
This was a quick (for me, not Justin) build and a lot of fun. The wingfold is total Gizmology and might get some extra bits and bobs at a later date.
Cheers, D

Justin, beautiful E2!!!
D, great job on the conversion! Creative and different, I liiike it.
I did some more work on the corsair last night, slowly building up flight control surfaces and I started on the wheels last night.

Great finish D! The Navy scheme looks totally believable on the Jug. Say, are you shooting the pic's with a rotary phone or what? Ugly!

Thanks for the positive comments guys, I was a bit worried about how this would go, my first attempt at cut and shut on a kit, but I'm happy with it.
Shawn, awesome job on the tail whell bay mate, looking really sharp.

I guess since a mentally ill person can kit bash a folding wing P-47 then I should at least get back to my entry. A few more bits and pieces on now. Man, there are ALOT of bits and pieces on an A-7.
Hope to have this one buttoned up in the next few days.

started building the exhaust last night. Built new IC/OC duct doors out of soda tin. Glued up the horiz. stabs last night. Started boxing the main gear bays. Added some PE to the OC faces.
I will add pics of you guys want to see them. Other wise they can be seen at:

Tonight I boxed in the last of the gear bays and started adding the strips. Also finished off the exhaust for the other side.
my bench is a disaster right now.. :BANGHEAD2:
Next up is finish striping the gear bays, add the door actuators, add what little plumbing was in the gear bays then paint the wing interior then close up the inner sections

Ok, so I compromised between accuracy and ease of build.
Here you can see the "trough" that is the wing roots.
close up of the "detail free zone", mid you this is after I removed the hold down brackets and the pivot bar.
Blank faced, half ribs..
added details, made a false half rib, filled in voids, drilled holes and tried to make the wing pivot look something like a shape based in reality.
Please remember this is all still roughed in.

One Main Gear Bay done.
Started Like this:
Ended Like This:
And I made an oil cooler, well two actually one for each side as they are kinda sorta at just the right angle visible through the ducts.
