Hey y'all- I am in! I admit that I signed up for this campaign a LONG time ago, and even picked up a kit earlier this summer/fall. I am hoping to make this happen!

Herman- nice work with your finished build. Looks great!

Shawn- I love the weathering on your bird also.

To get me going here, here is a picture of kit I am going to be going with. I will have to make a simple diorama base showing those rotors back ORIGAMI style.

IMAG0015

I will try to get going soon and have some updates. Happy holiday modeling everyone.

Shawn, I'm not a big fan of really, really weathered and worn aircraft but yours is looking super sweet. The salt technique has been around for a long time but I have to say your results are some of the best I've ever seen. Starting out with the NMF base and adding the yellow primer under the topcoat has really made it stand out. Great job man.

Hmmm.. I resemble that remark...

Many many moons ago, in fact when it was first released, I grabbed the brand spanking new TBM Avenger from some company in China I have never heard of before, Trumpeter. Upon reaching Casa Inman I opened the box and was amazed at the detail in the kit and unlike most people I think the surface detailing looks fine under a few coats of paint.

Then a few months later I saw a BigEd set for the same model which I got, then a metal undercarriage set from Factor and then some resin wheels from Master Casters.

I thought to myself that it would look awesome when finished and I put it aside until I had the time to do such a great kit justice. That time never came and it has been sitting under 10 or so other Trumpeter lits in the stash until today.

I can vacilate no longer. I tried to convince myself to build another, easier build that would take only a week or so.. Then I tried to convince myself that you would not be able to see all the fantastic interior detailing if I had the wings folded..

Then I came up with a cunning plan.. Why not build this one OOB, then get another one and at a later date build it with all the PE etc with the wings outstretched as wings are meant to be? Maybe because the Avengers are not the cheapest kit to buy? That is a good reason indeed and as a 1/32 Avenger takes up lots of real estate and two may just be one too many. Even a 9 metre by 6 metre shed can only store so many 1/32 aircraft..

So instead I will build a F8F-1 Bearcat that won't take too long. Still 1/32 and still Trumpeter. And so the Avenger will just have to wait a little longer. Maybe if I finish the Bearcat really really fast I can build the Avenger after that.

And I promise, Paul, that I will make a start today. Will be in tandem with my Dauntless for the Anti-Shipping Campaign.

But first I need to take a run down to my LHS for some interior green paint. I went to paint the Dauntless interior last night and found the first jar I grabbed was emopty. Not a problem I thought as I have another one sitting right behind it on the shelf. Grabbed it and, you guessed it, it was empty as well.. Idiot!!

Cheers
Warren
