Nah, with all that extra ordinance, it'll at least take him an extra half day.

Hello all,
The XO is now on board. The old man had to much fun on his R&R and is recouping.
Now Gentlemen, We have a lot of air to mud missions coming up and I need you all to be on your toes. Remember to take out your target the first time and always check your six.
Seriously,
I am doing a A-10 in 1/48 scale sometime this year. It will not be perfect, it will reflect me and my modeling ways.
If any of you need anything, Please let me know.
Cheers,
Bruce

OK, getting my toes wet here, I dredged Hasegawa's 1/72 A-37A out of the stash. It's got markings for an A-37A (604th SOS, 3rd TFW USAF) and a OA-37B (19th TASS, 51st TFW, USAF, possibly out of Osan AFB, ROK). From somewhere I get that OA-37B's were really FAC's. So do the markings for 604th SOS match a CAS group?

Just signed up for this one. I was initially thinking 1/72 Academy A-37 but will instead go the Hasegawa AV-8B + PE as I haven't had much luck with my Dragonfly attempts. Need to finish of my Academy F/A-18A before starting this but will post packaging soon.

Cheers

Well spotted Jim, looks like someone has fallen out of love of their Dragonfly I have just ordered Roden's 1/48 Mohawk OV-1A for this campaign. Weird but great looking aircraft, and I love the box cover. Some bemused looking monkeys in it.

Thanks for the link Jim; fortunately for this build I can delve into the stash. Hope you're feeliong better soon.

@litespeed: I have had no luck with the Dragonfly. I bought 4 of them and Eduard PE sets for each in the hopes of doing one each in SEA, Euro1 & overall Gunship Grey camos. I am now down to 2 with nothing to show. My cat destroyed my first SEA attempt and the second had paint adhesion problems.

Eventually I am hoping to do a Vietnam FAC & CAS collection.

Hi Wizard.
I can sympathise about the cat problems. We have eight of the little darlings, so I have to try and make my models a bit cat proof, such as using steel pins for the aerial and re-inforcing the undercarriage legs. They are still damaged every now and then. Attrition rate is about one in every two months so it's not to bad. Good excuse for building something else to replace the write off.

Hi
Right now I'm working on a couple of campaign's; the Pyn-Up and the P-51. Both projects are at a stage where drying time is important, and I don't care to watch things dry. I have idle time.

So, I thought I would start my project for the CAS Campaign. This Tamiya 1/48 Spad is my choice for a Close Air Support project.

I'm going to get started on it today: cutting, cleaning, researching.

As far as marking's go, it's a toss-up between these two: a VA-115 "Hancock" example

Or, a VA-65 "Enterprise" example.

Perhaps, both are a little boring compared to more colorful choices. These are what I have though, so I'll have to make do.

I'm leaning toward the VA-115 with the little footprints running across its wings and fuselage. That's kinda cool. What do you think?

OOPS! Had to edit. two pictures the same

Sorry, I have no idea; never seen a photo of this plane.

The Cutting Edge notes say; quote "NF/504, VA 115. We love this plane. Unfortunately, we don't know anything about why it had footprints stencilled all over it. If you know the story on this Spad, please let us know"

I'll have to spend some time googling, perhaps I can find something. Or, maybe one of our friends here has some answers.

I know that when an aircraft lands on a different carrier (by mistake or due to emergency) that it gets "tagged" by members of the carrier's air wing. Maybe this is one of those tags?

Im doing A Supermarine Stranraer, and it uses footprint symbols to demarcate the safe walking areas on the wings..I dont know if that is related or not..

Looking forward to seeing your Stranraer, Jim.

Good thought on the footprints. However, if the footprints ever were really stenciled onto this plane, I should think it was done as a personal decoration of the pilot. As per the art, the footprints are right across:

I've researched a little, and cannot find photos of this application. In 1967, VA115 was on CVA 19, the USS Hancock for a very short while before they were decommissioned. That's all I know.

But, I believe the footprints were put there just cause it looks cool.

I'm finishing up a P-38 right now and an A-7 but I hope to get my A-10 started in a month or so.

Hi all. My name's Leo. Just strayed over from Armorama. I usually do wings so now think I found my Web-Home here.

I will join in on this party with the following:

No stealin' of thunder intended, it's the airforce-version and it's going to be a straight speed-build for me.

So, no aftermarket, no major scratching. Kit decals only. Above all: as fast as possible ( I love to do that with a Tamiya, planning on a blitzbau with one of those) and as much fun as possible.

Thanks for watching, I'll have an update come next week. Rainy weekend lies ahead

Wow! This is turning into a Skyraider campaign

I was actually considering doing a Skyraider as well, but I think I will go for a Stuka instead.

Will start as soon as I have finished a few other campaigns.
