A little progress with mine, Tamiya first:-

Primed and pre-shaded..

Now the Revell...

All together, not too bad for gaps on top...

But the underside needed a little...

Some sanding to do here, then on with some primer. More soon.

Hi all.
Very impressed with the speed you guys are working at, some very good builds and finishes here.
I like the look of the protype wings Paul.
Axel lovely clean finish.
Really curious to see the Aires cockpit detail set Roger.
Those seams do look good on your Spit Bob, have you worked on them at all?
All the best.

Heres what I'm doing for this one. The Airfix 1/72 Spitfire Mk Vc Trop. Strange kit with the old fuselage and bits from the old Vb kit with new tool wings and tropical filter.

http://gallery.kitmaker.net/showphoto.php/photo/352880/ppuser/32734

The other pic shows the progress as of this morning. It's now got the canopy on and masked, the tail wings on and the underside sprayed up. I'm using the Airwaves etch set so it has some kinda cockpit, with the seat and control column taken from the new tool Airfix Mk I Spitfire. They were spare as I made the Mk I into a Mk II using the 3D kits conversion set. I've also got True Details weighted wheels to put on this one.

Hopefully I'll have the green top colour done by tomorrow.I have another of these kits, which I'll build as the South African Air Force option with the 4 cannons.

Incidently and its a shameless plug time. If anyone wants another Spitfire we at MJW Models have the new Sword Mk Vc and Mk Vc trop in stock and also the Airfix new tool Mk I with the 3D kits conversion sets. That means you could do a rotol prop Mk I or a Mk II as there are 5 different marking options.

Thanks
Mike

Hey Matt, what is a VACATION

Hi Bob,
Something that the wife takes and I get to tag along for..
Just about time to head home so I will be starting in on mine soon. I had picked up the new Airfix I/IA/IIA kit just prior to leaving and it looks really nice. Can't comment on accuracy, but it looks like a Spit to me. See you all on the thread shortly. "Q"

Hi Tim

Thanks! The harness is just from the Airwaves set, glued onto the spare Mk I seat and painted. The Airwaves stuff is ok but I much prefer Eduard.

Regards the pics. No matter how easy people say it is, I just can't quite get the pics uploaded onto here so I just copy and paste the links. I haven't got much time to spend figuring it out, with me trying to build a business and painting models to sell and raise funds for the business.

thanks

Mike,

I can sure understand how life gets the better of you, I'm still trying to settle on Spit and actually find time to sit down and build it!

As for the pictures, you are SO close to being able to do it! Clicking on your link I get to exactly the page I use to get my link for posting.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page with the picture on it and click the little icon next to the "Linked Thumbnail" (it says "more" when you put your cursor on it). A new line will come up called "HTML code". Highlight that code and copy it into your post (I usually open two windows, one with the picture I want to post and one to actually write the post in the forum so I can just toggle back and forth). Highlight and copy the whole HTML link as spelled out in the box, including < and >. With your permission, just like this:

(this is Mike's Spit, NOT mine )

That always works for me! Nice work, by the way!!

Michael

Thanks Mike! I'll give it another go next time.

My Spitfire is looking very green now, the undersides are painted and masked and it's had 2 coats of Vallejo Gunship green (looks close to foliage green) on top. Hopefully I'll have time to do the tail and wing leading edges white tomorrow and then I'll take another update pic.

thanks
Mike

Another small update:-

Tamiya 1st, camo on and underside painted.

Revell next. Camo and undersides done, some decals on.

Bit of an accident with the roundel, off to the spares box we go!

On to the weathering....

Thanks guys.

No one ever told me it was simply a copy and paste of something else straight into the reply. I got told various methods that left me clueless, so thanks
again for the simple explanation.

As for the white tail, luckily the whole tail and wings are white, making it a simple masking job. The white and green are Vallejo model air, which is very easy to use and comes out nice. The underside is Xtracrylix, I'm gonna try to get my hands on Vallejo's model air RAF set when it comes out, I already use their Luftwaffe colours.

I've just got the fiddly little decals to do, panel lines, last couple of small fiddly parts, quick matt varnish and the exhaust stains to finish it. It should be done by the weekend

thanks
Mike

Don't forget to post an image in the campaign gallery.
