Progress at last !
I need to fill a couple of redundant holes with putty, and then on goes the primer
This is the Tamiya F4U-1A Propeller Action Corsair in 1/48 (Kit # 61502). What's not to love about a Corsair with a motorised propeller ?
Cheers,
Paul

Ive finished this 144th scale Corsair.

I added alot of details to the very basic kit, the tailwheel, antennae, flaps, cockpit, all fabricated, the four bladed prop is from Anigrand, and the decals are from Miniwing.

didnt manage an invisible wing to fuselage join, other wise, Im pleased with the outcome.

two more pics posted in the gallery
some nice
prototype pics here.

I am calling this pirate done. Had some problems with the small decals & the dark blue paint but for the price I think this was a good value kit.

Good afternoon everybody. I have managed to throw some colour at my F4U-2, so I thought I should show you that I was actually still here ! I'm using Tamiya acrylics, and once I've finished the base colours, I'm planning to weather and fade the dark blue (X-3 Royal Blue) with a bit of thinned XF-18 Medium Blue to lighten and break it up a a bit. As always, comments, suggestions and criticism gratefully accepted.

BTW I'm loving the work on display in this Campaign, great work all round.
Cheers, D

Hi all,
My nephew was round the other day and took a shining to my A-6 Intruder egg plane. After explaining that I cant built yet he picked this one out

"I like the blue one uncle Andrew" said the wee chap.
Does this count towards this campaign??

@ Javier- great detailing. What kit are you using?
Eoin
Hi Eoin, I'm using a Tamiya item 61085, F4U-1D...
Guys
I'm in trouble, I lost the piece A21:

Looking good, all!
Decals are on my F4U-5N "Kleenex." GSB paint is a combination of Model Master (too green) and WEM (too purple...IMHO). Now on to detail painting, and she'll be done!

Tom

Hey Javier,
contact
Tamiya customer service and they'll send you one, possibly for free. Actually, they'll probably send you the entire sprue.

If your lucky the last three times I've asked for replacement parts from Tamiya I have been charged for it but I did each time get the get the entire sprue. if any thing you probably better off getting an aftermarket engine from somewhere like

Is there a gallery I should be posting a picture into? I don't see anything in "Campaigns" in the photo area.
Yes. From the photo gallery the path is Home » AeroScale » Aeroscale Campaigns » 2011 Aeroscale Campaigns » Corsairs the Sky Pirates. Or you could just click on
this link to take you right there.

Thanks, Jessie! Been a while since I actually completed an aircraft. Armour just seems to be so much easier - make a mistake, and you can cover it with mud or call it "damage"!
Thanks for the link to the gallery. I think I was looking under 2012 galleries...

Hi All,
There are some interesting builds here. I've got just a couple of touch ups to do on my F4U-1d before it's completed.

My progress after the weathering.

Nice work Rob, looks very battle-weary. Except for the prop. You need to smash it around a bit as well mate.
Torchy, brilliant. You can't help but smile when you look at those dumpy little egg-planes.
I'm running it right down to the wire (as usual), and here's where I'm at. Colour is on, but I wasn't really happy with the sharpness of the demarcation between the blues, so I put in the #1 tip and thinned the paint right out and free-handed the edge. Much happier
Before . . . . .

After . . . .

The glass has been dipped in future and will dry overnight. I will attach the bits and bobs thisarvo and tomorrow morning give it a coat of future ready to decal. I might even just get this one done in time !
Cheers, D

Yikes!
Didn't realise the time catching up with me!
Here are some build photos of a Tamiya 1/72 Corsair:

Obviously there's a lot of seems to be filled etc. etc.

I've built and painted the aircraft, just have to decal, attach undercarriage and weather!
Photos will follow soon but the deadline is rushing up faster than the fourth trap on USS Bunkerhill!
Fingers crossed I'll hit the deadline, if not there may be a plea to get some stragglers over the line!
Eoin
P.S. @ Rob: great weathering!

Hi All,
I can now call my F4u-1d finished.

Damian,
Excellent finish on the fuselage re-spray.
Eoin,
Thanks for your comment.

Checking back in, and I must say this is quite a squadron we've got going here. Very cool to see so many different takes on the Corsair. Outstanding work too!
Grant, I LOVE those Glenview NAS decals-- I grew up in Chicago and used to tag along with my dad in a USCG-Reserve Maintenance and Repair unit, when he'd run over there sometimes to check on the CG buildings on the base. It was the 1970's or 80's though, and it was full of Navy anti-submarine aircraft with the long booms on their tails. I never actually saw a Corsair there.
The gallery is brimming! Very nice.
