Well all I can say Sam is WOW! Just exactly when do you find time to breathe? Mucking out stables, riding horses I'm surprised you manage to stay awake when you get home!
I echo Sam's comments great work guys and gals! I've had a blast doing this campaign and seeing the really interesting subjects that have appeared.

Quoted TextI'm ready for What-If Part-Deux, we could also do with a What-If-Hanger-Queens...
...
Yes, what-if aircraft are allowed in the Hangar Queen 2 Campaign (I'm pretty sure, if I am indeed running it), but if you're close to finished here go ahead and wrap it up, because Sam and Allen have already said that ribbons will still be awarded for a (limited) while after the end date.
That said, the HQ2 Campaign ends on the 21st of December-- 10 months from now!
Cheers!
-Sean.
Reading, reading, here we go. "Must be site specific."-- meaning anything "Aero". Doesn't rule out what-ifs necessarily.
Thanks for the Info! I have far too many Hanger queens!
Most of the Decals have been cooperative but the Meatballs are a disaster. I still havn't decided how to handle it. Should I take them all off and start again? try cutting or sanding them??
been working on the Landing Gear AKA undercarriage in the meantime.

What about sanding out the cracks, respraying, then giving them an overspray in thinned camouflage colours as though they've been toned down in the field? That should make them look nicely worn.

I think that sounds like a good plan Jessie has come up with

Major assembly of the Kermode is complete and the primer is on. It reveals that work still awaits.

Great builds! The F-2 looks great! I sanded the meatballs down and found one of the other pairs on the sheet that is just red without the outline. Hope to stick them on tomorrow and then start the weathering. In a hurry to get this done finally! The decal issue stalled it bad

Hi all
I think this ones done.
I wanted to keep the WW1 look on a jet fighter, but I dont know about the canopy ,with or without?
I used burnt umber oils over a Tamiya XF-60 dark yellow base and then over sprayed with Tamiya X-26 clear orange for the the wooden fuselage
The decals are from the spares box,a mixture of 1/72 and 1/32 aircraft and a 1/12 motorcycle Arai helmet decal.
The prop blades are from a 1/72 C-47 and the guns are 1/35 from the spares box.
The wing thingie between the gear struts was scratched from plastic card
hope you like.

That fab Andy really like it, I think I prefer it with canopy on but thats just me
Nice work on the Kermode Jessie
Ben hope you get the meatballs sorted out I have to admit decalling is one of my least favourite things to do as in my experience it either goes well or a total disaster for me.

I agree with Camogirl, Andy. My preference is to have the canopy on.
Also, Taidan Tomcat, glad to see your interest in the HQ2 campaign! Welcome! Just a quick note that I meant to type 31 December. (That's ten more days, yay! )

And now for another instalment of the endless round of Fill, sand, prime, despair_that_it's_not_done_yet blues
Come on, sing it with me:*
Got up this mornin'
Put some paint on my airplane;
Yeah, got up this mornin'
Put some paint on my airplane;
Now why ain't I surpised?
Got to do it all again!
Can't you hear the Blues Brothers doing this?

LOL, that is exactly how I feel now
Lucky for me, my kit is a bit smaller, but I have already used abt 1/4 of Revell's putty tube. And that is just 1 kit!
Anyway, guess I will not finish my project on time. Sad, but true. Nevertheless, I keep fighting!
The fuselage is more or less what I wanted. I also started a new tail fin, that was cut from a plastic sheet. As you can see, I am still on sanding, filling mode

And don't I know it! I really am wishing I picked something better for this build. I know its very cool looking but its been a bloody nightmare from the start!
So after wasting the whole of last week having to sit round the girlfriends house watching her crap on the tv and several expensive meals out (when I could have spent my time much more productively), I've got back to work on the Rotodyne. The wing-fuselage joint had more cavernous gaps that needed a lot of filling. Unfortunatly I'm all out of milliput, having used the last I had as filling in the legs of a large scale vinyl figure kit. I've had to resort to the squadron white stuff which has needed a few applications and sandings the last few nights. I think its now smooth enough. I'm hoping to get some painting started by the weekend, even if its just the base dark blue grey.
I've also cleaned up and assembled the rotors and drilled out the tip jet nozzles. This is HUGE! It must easily be 14inches in diameter. I'll need to add some sag to the blades before painting them matt black.

I've also managed to get some more done to the Israeli Tomcat. finally assembled it and got the top camo colours on. just need to mask and then spray the underside grey next.
I inserted and epoxy'd a piece of brass tube at an angle so I can insert it into the base at a later date.
And a quick dry fit
I've also decide on the weapon load out and built them as well. Fortunately most of them are the same colour as the underside
The fuel tanks in the usual place the Data pod will replace the Tarps pod, the Delilah and Lantirn will go on the wing pylons along with the Pythons and the Spice will sit on the front 'pallets' where the Phoenix usually sit.
As always comments, critique and suggestions are always welcomed

Allen, your F-14 looks great! The camo reminds me of the early Iranian scheme.
Jessica, Nice progress on your c-27J. Hoping to see the end result soon.
Stephen, your build is coming along nicely, can't wait to see some paints on it..

So much imagination, this campaign is awesome !
I am honored to be able to contribute.
This is the best Ill be able to do with this.
I enjoyed studying Air Marshall Islands.
Besides the trusty Dornier 228's, they also operated a Hawker Siddeley 748
Wouldnt you know Welsh models make vacform kits of both in 144th, and I have already designed decals for them, so eventually I'll be able to build the whole fleet.
More pictures in the Gallery.

Sometimes the gallery chokes over the size of the images. Are they under 1000X750?
