I will be using this Tamiya kit as my base, as an RAAF subject. If my decals arrive for this build I intend using the Hi Viz {3 tone 'Skippy' roundels} and the Magpie rudder markings that was once used on the Mirage IIIc's.
Using a variation of the SEA scheme {applied to RAAF F4e Phantoms}.
Sorry for the bad pic of the sheet.
The ordinance I plan to use, are to, fit a litening pod and change the inboard fuel tank mounts to carry the 3x GBU-10 and 3x GBU-31as well, as retain the Fuselage centre line fuel tank.

Oh darn... I totally forgot about this campaign! Samantha, would you allow an egg plane as a what-if subject? Or should I go and find myself a proper kit?

Using the kit parts of C5,6 and 10 as the inboard base hard point mounts, but removing the rear locating pins, of each assembly and re locating the hole 1mm forward and using a metal pin as a replacement.
The triple mounts are from the spares box and left over from a previous F16 build.

Sam says that eggs planes are more than welcome. After all its an idea of what if a plane was an egg with wings.Oh darn... I totally forgot about this campaign! Samantha, would you allow an egg plane as a what-if subject? Or should I go and find myself a proper kit?

Just a thought, did one of the Aeroscale Campaign Officials forget to put the "OFFICIAL" in the Official Campaign thread title ?

Made a little progress over the weekend.
The console parts were masked off and the black was added. Black area of cockpit painted after masking the inside portion.
The clear parts for the wing tip lights had been drilled out and clear yellow was used to make them more realistic.
Assembled cockpit tub fix in place.
Tail beacon and nav lights painted in the same manner by drilling a small hole into the clear parts and filling with clear red or blue paint.
A closer look at the kit seat assembly with a piece of tissue clued to it to replicate a textured effect.

I was thinking of maybe dropping the 'Official' title as most of our campaigns are official campaigns anyway and just titling and unofficial campaigns at the start of 2012.Quoted TextJust a thought, did one of the Aeroscale Campaign Officials forget to put the "OFFICIAL" in the Official Campaign thread title ?

That way the forum won't look all 'samey' but if you would like to keep the current format then so be it.

Methinks I will change tack on my build for this Campaign, if it is ok with the Campaign leader of course !
I was originally going to attempt to fuse 2 Tamiya P-47's into a "P-94" Nightfighter, sort of P-61 meets P-47 meets F-82, but I think time will kill me and I also think I need to keep my P-47 stash intact for future SIG Group Builds.
My eyes have turned to a Hasegawa 1/48 Kawanishi N1K2-J Shidenkai (George), which I plan to dress up in RAAF post-WW2 livery to represent a captured aircraft undergoing performance testing.
Does this idea have the approval of the heirarchy?

Hi,
I have started on my Kfir. I'm using the 1/72nd Italeri Kfir C.7 kit. I'll be using ROCAF markings and most probably going to airbrush it in 2-tone air-superiority grey. I'm also doing abit of changes to it by replacing the nose with a nose that may accomodate a decent radar.
The kit box
The fuselage
The nose section
The kit ... looks like a mirage 3 with the nose ( I can't remember the nose came from which kit, I found it in my spares..)

Nice progress, Ken.
I am getting started with my Valkyrie and some Warthog decals from After Burner. Planning on a splinter camouflage and some pin up nose art.
It will be fun

Good progress on the Kfir.
Jesper,
Thanks for the comment on the F 16. Your Valkyrie progress is looking good so far.
Originally wanting to use the {Aussie Decals} RAAF Mirage III 'Magpie' markings on this RAAF service F 16, instead I put a few odd 79 Sqn RAAF decals on my bird, with 2 only of the Hi Viz 'skippy' roundals, on the upper and lower wings, {taken from an Aussie Decal F 111 sheet}. The panther, tri coloured fin flash and the 'A' number are from the spares box, {once supplied with the Airfix {RAAF} Bae Hawk 127 kit}. The fin flash bars across the rudder are yet to be trimmed.
Now to apply all the other stencils to this bird.
More to follow.

As my Corsair for the Sky Pirates Campaign is nearing the finish line, I began to feel it's time to begin work... on my "Egg Fourteen".
With only two sprues and 25-30 parts, it looks like an easy build. Unfortunately, the fit is not perfect and will require some sanding-filling effort. Nothing major though.
Tonight I plan to make more progress. Let's see how it turns out. Hopefully I will be able to finish this kit in time to intercept Jesper's Valkyrie and shoot it down, har har har!
