Emre, it's hard not to hear "Highway to the Danger Zone" in your head whenever you see a Tomcat! ...even and egg-shaped one.
Bruce and Martin, your kits are coming together well too, of course.
I just finished my softskin vehicle, and I only have one build going on my workbench. It looks lonely. I better start this one, to keep it company.
thanks for posting!

I tend to think of Mighty Wings rather than Dangerzone. Nice to see Rugby 1 with some colour on it.
Good progress on the Rafale B
Mine is together just needs canopy masking and then spraying gold
Progress is kind of slow at the moment trying to get a review kit finished and write up done for the 11th so I can pass it to my editor at Telford so hopefully once Telford is done I will be back to full speed on this build (yes famous last words )

Ready for some paint.
A quick clean before some undercoat and some preshading.
Just have to decide which camo scheme to use.

Hi Sam, et al.
Mother Nature isn't co-operating much down here in South Florida so I've been a bit stalled on painting this wee beastie. Finally did manage to get some time out in the spray booth tho yesterday. (Read, great outdoors )
So this is how it looks so far, mind you this is only the underside of the thing, and the outside of the rudders are only taped on and need touch ups and a final cleaning
and the bottom
Till next time

Martin nice progress looking forward to seeing it sprayed up
Bruce know where you are coming from with the spraying issues I can't wait to get a spray bay and extractor sorted in the new year as either have to spray outside or suffocate indoors.
Looking good so far and cant wait to see it finished

Rugby-1 is now painted, decalled, washed, toned and matt coated. It's also armed and dangerous!
The only problem is that it still doesn't have engines installed I will first mask and paint the exhausts (at least the partial exhausts on the fuselage), then install the engine-exhaust assembly, which is painted and ready. Also I need to paint the black stripes on the arresting hook and fit it as well. Other than that, highway's clear until the danger zone.

Weather's turned better, so I've been busy on my Hawg. Actually got the camo done and most of the fiddely bits on her. Just need to gloss it and get the decals on and finish her up. Hopefully by next week.
Anyway, for your entertainment-
The Scottish Hog
I still have to figure out what I want to do for the national insignia too.

If you go by the Commonwealth standard, a roundel with a red heather in the centre would work well. And possibly a Nessie in the squadron badge?
I would have said a haggis, but they're difficult to identify if you haven't seen one before.
I think it also needs wee tartan kilts in place of the gear doors.

Nice progress I cant really think of anything to help as I thought pretty much the same as Jessie Thistle, Nessie etc admittly didnt think of tartan Kilts for gear doors though, certainly different

"The Scotts A-10's most effective area denial weapons were its twin ram-air operated automatic bagpipes. A pair of A-10s orbiting the battlefield were sufficient to clear the enemy in mere minutes while playing Scotland the Brave and Lord Lovat's Lament."

Scott, thanks, that is perfect! I'll see what I can do with it now. I'm not really all that computer savvy. Now I have to see what I can do about Jessies' twin turbo auto bagpipes

Thought you might like this as inspiration
As you can see it has the full load out of AutiPipes and the ASM-69 Haggis LGB's. Note too the early colour scheme of sky grey with Woad Nose.
National Flag and Campbell Tartan wheel sponsons show this to be an A-10 of the 23rd Highland Attack Squadron the "Sassanach Slaughterers"
.... and YES I have far to much time on my hands, comes from working in Oil and Gas..........

Egg-celent work yet again, Emre! It IS hard not to like Rugby-1. I'm inspired by your build (and an old article in FineScale Modeler of Godzilla with hinomaru decals) for that Geek outerspace campaign coming to build one of those scrunchy little Gundam BB's in full aircraft insignia.
Anyway Bruce, Scott, and Jessie, your ideas are really hitting! I'll be scanning the skies now, listening for the bagpipes and watching for falling haggis! Even on the more serious parts-- the tail insignia and thistle roundel are very believable and recognizably Scottish.
thanks for posting!

Thanks Sean and Samantha!
Qualitywise it is one of my worst models, but then again I had fun and it was a speed build. I have two 1/72 scale Hasegawa F-14s given to me as presents so I'll save my energy for those rather than Rugby-1
I'm having so much fun reading your ideas about a Scottish A-10. We were over in Scotland about 3 months ago and I think my wife would definitely agree about the efficiency of autopipes
One more idea... I think another prominent Scottish symbol is the Hamish cow. It could make a symbol funnier than Nessie maybe?

Hi Guys
I've decided to change tack a little as I see that the F16 is featuring quite prominently and thought about strike aircraft from other manufacturers. I was going to go with the Su25 but thought that a little to radical a departure from the norm even for new Zealand. but I've got a Sepcat Jaguar GR-1 in my stash and I thought New Zealand likes buying cut price hardware and who better to supply it than than the old country?
Also I was thinking that if England was having trouble with Scotland wouldn't she call on her colonial troops to help?? After all we colonials think the sound of bag pipes is a lot like a cat being rap..... uh ... being ..... okay moving right along! Here's a pic of the kit and the decals I'll be using!
