Well I am calling this one complete. Special Hobby 1/72 Blackburn Skua..

Anyone who is interested in FAA aircraft, or indeed carrier aircraft, can safely add this kit to their build list as it is an excellent kit. Hardly any filler needed. Detail is excellent in the cockpit and the engine.
Thanks for looking
Regards
Warren

Hi Warren, nice looking Skua! The Fleet Air Arm sure had some of the ugliest and most ungainly of aircraft! So ugly and ungainly they are some of the most fascinating aircraft out there!

Thanks Chris and you are 100% correct re the Skua. The Roc was even uglier and more ungainly but a Roc is a mythical bird of prey, well extinct is more the word but still not around anymore.

Nice work Warren, although I would have been put off by all the masking for the canopy lol.
Cheers Pete

Hi there Pete.

Thanks for that. I actually downloaded the 1/48 mask from Eduard and resized it for 1/72 as they don't produce a 1/72 mask. I ended up not using it though and masking it manually with Tamiya tape and Maskol.

Cheers
Warren

Unfortunately I ran out of time. I painted the Nighthawk with enamels and believe that the combination of testors enamel, lacquer thinner, and too high psi/too far away combined to result in a very pebbly finish. After some gloss coats and polishing I was able to knock it down but the roughness wreacked havoc with some of the decals settling down within the short timeframe that was left. I've got it all sorted out now, but still have to decal the underside and complete final assembly with the landing gear, wheel well covers. Thanks anyway for the great campaign, there were a number of excellent builds to follow.
