Well that is interesting.. Mitsubishi Green is actually XF-67, but XF-71 is the correct colour for British cockpits. I actually found a page to tell me all this in I site I go to daily... but I hadn't seen this page before.
Thanks again Jessica for the tip off I needed.
Cheers

Hey Jess how is the Hawk coming along?
Pete
It's still where it was when last I posted progress pics. I pulled a back muscle doing I don't know what last Thursday and that's been keeping me off my feet since then. Painkillers and careful modelling don't play well together...
I plan to work on improving the wing fit once I get myself back together.

The wings, intakes and several smaller bits are glued on. The fit in general is atrocious.

Somebody needs to tell Zoukei Mura to get their act together. That uhu has barely any detail at all.

A little more progress on the anti-fighter, the Skua..
No, that is not 1/32 or 1/48 but just 1/72! Special Hobby produce marvellous kits in my opinion.
Cheers all

I find it a fascinating insight into the vagaries and variety of our hobby. Winston's working on a model more akin to a Bonsai tree, in the next post Jessie is working on a model that requires wall filler and an angle grinder!

And the true challenge of our hobby is to make both kits look equally good once they're finished

Thanks I am painting more the building at the moment. I will not be able to do any work for the next week since I'll be out of town but I'm hoping that I can start getting the sub-assemblies together when I get back.

Ok so iv done some painting i masked the windows off and gave everything a couple of coats of light gull grey . Then came the tricky part i had to mask off the pattern for the dark grey , i was a little nervous about doing this as i wasnt sure how good my masking skills were but i went for it anyway . Im very pleased with how it turned out and feel quite relieved that i got this done.. i just need to do the tail and wing tips then i can move on with the rest of the build , i couldnt help but put the dish and props on just to see what its looking like

I know you have probably got clearance for the E-2, but how is an AWACS aircraft a bird of prey? It just sits up in the sky directing birds of prey to the kill. Hawkeye refers to the aircraft having the vision of a Hawk I think, but a Hawkeye is not a bird of prey... But as I said I am not criticising just querying.

Well the campaign is about any aircraft named after a bird of prey as stated in the rules so i thought a Hawkeye would be ok also the squadron im doing is the grey hawks so i feel that also contributes to it when it comes to the clearance as im campaign leader i thought id go for it if you look back at page 3 i did ask if anyone would mind if i built an E-2....

Realized I never posted the picture of the finished warhawk in this thread when I uploaded to the gallery.
Well here she is:
With a Eurocoin for scale
And with the Airfix P-40B Warhawk in Chinese livery

Some nice work here but I am afraid I'll have to pull out, too many campaigns committed to and I don't have a Bird of Prey in the stash. Keep at it

Lots of fine modelling going on right now. Erik, nice job on the Academy Warhawk kit (though isn't that technically a Native American name and not an actual bird?). I was also very impressed by the BAE Hawk with the beautiful RAF anniversary markings.
So I am finally getting around to starting my F-117 Nighthawk from Hasegawa, having learned recently that a Nighthawk is actually a species of hawk. Photos show the name is surprisingly apt for the shape of the F-117.
Anyway, here is a shot of the box contents all cleaned up and ready to go. Just last night I sat down and started cutting plastic, got the kit ejection seat put together and cemented the wing halves together. I hope to get some paint on the cockpit tonight and post some progress pictures.

Hi All.
Some more progress on the Skua.
The wings are on, the empennage is complete and the engine is in place along with the nice PE cowling brace supplied in the kit.
Obviously the final colour and wash have to be added but the cooling fins seem nice for 1/72.
I would highly recommend this kit to anyone wanting a good replica of the Blackburn Skua II.
Cheers
