Howdy Y'all
This will be the model I'll try to build. I've been working on another project for IMPS USA Nationals this summer so time is limited but this is a kit I've wanted to build for years.
The plan is to build a SEA Tomahawk from 1942.
Y'all take care,
Don "Lakota"

This is what I would like to build for this campaign.
Now some work has been done, I originally started this when I was in high school but got put on hold when I could not get a good picture of the open gun bay. A lot of the panels have been opened as I was going to show it with one engine out for maintenance, I even cut the front engine fan out of the bulkhead and carved it to show separate blades. Then the second reason it has not been built occurred, the box was stored too close to the flame on the hot water tank and a good deal of the small parts suffered.(see small matchbox)
So what I plan now is just a simple build that will require me to replace most of the panels that have been cut out and just build it mostly straight from the box. Please let me know if this is ok for the campaign.
Cheers Rob.

Got a start on fixing the panels back in place , a little sheet styrene and some filler.
Cheers Rob.

After careful consideration I've decided to build one of my recently acquired TA-4F Skyhawks in RNZAF markings just after purchase from the Australian Navy in a rather appealing two tone grey scheme. However the kit has neither decals nor instructions contained within it. The decals provide no problem as aftermarket ones will be sourced, the kits instructions however are more of an immediate problem. Though simple in parts breakdown there are several parts where their use is somewhat ambiguous and I need the instructions to sort this out. So my question is this does anyone have this kit in their stash and could I get a scanned copy? Or alternatively if someone knows where I might download a copy from the web? My current searches have been less than successful to date and I can find numerous links to ebay and Academy don't seem to have copies on their website. (Unlike Revell!)

Chris,
If this is the kit you are talking about, I can scan the instructions later Today.
Cheers Rob.

Nice builds so far. 30 odd years into my life and I didn't know a Harrier was a type of bird, I always figured the jet it was named after the dog breed. Which now that I've typed it makes no sense at all

Hi Rob that most certainly is the bird concerned thanks for that! I look forward to the scan arriving in my inbox.

Hi,
I have decided I will make an F-16 for this build, I was tempted to do an F-15DJ in aggressor markings but don't think my skills are up to the task just yet, I would deffinately need a lot of time to get it looking just right, so I'm going to start with a classic F-16A Plus.

Hi Guys and girls I thought it time I actually uploaded some photo's so you could actually see that I'm working away at my Skyhawk and that the model has gone together really easily.
Aside from problems of my own creation (Super glue accelerant attacks the styrene used by Academy!!) it's been trouble free. I was looking at the bird this morning thinking pretty good for a little under a weeks work. Then I realised that no progress pics had been forthcoming! So here a few belated ones of where I'm at now. Time to PAINT!! Still need to find some decals but the paint job will hopefully be just about done by the time I source some.

A little further on with the Skyhawk, I've got the canopy on the wheel well, landing gear and basic camo painted on. I'm waiting on the decals to arrive. (two sets one for an Aussie TA-4G and the other a set of 1/48 scale kiwi roundels to replace the Aussie ones.) I'll do a little of the detail work paint the bombs etc and put a faint pin wash in the wheel wells to make the details stand out. Paint the jet nozzle and air intakes and then coat it all with a gloss coat in preparation for the decals. But first here are some progress pics.

First top colour is down. Need to mask and shoot the DG next (which will be a batch shoot with a couple Spitfires I have on the go).

Hi Pete and welcome to our campaign and good luck with you first wingy thing! As to your question I guess that depends on what the other schemes are? I know that the Hawk is used by a number of nations and the colour schemes are pretty varied. I think most of the finishes are high gloss? (being a trainer) Just remember that with high gloss finishes the seams need a little more care and attention any defect will stand out. (It's why I paint most of my models in flat camo schemes!) I will admit though that the high gloss black colour scheme of the RAF does appeal to me.

Of the rather overwhelming number of hawks and eagles available on my shelf, I settled on doing one that is unrepresented so far and should hopefully go together quickly... This is next on my list to open up after I finish up the F-82 for the Nightfighter campaign.

I actually built a 1/32 T1 hawk with the same livery last year, I didn't have decals so I masked the whole lot took ages lol. If someone is building a nighthawk with US flag, I will go with same theme but UK flag from RAF Valley.
Good luck everyone with builds see you at the end.
Pete

Yuuuuup Chris ordered the decals 2 days ago and waiting patiently. Its the 2009 display Hawk from RAF Valley in Wales. The one for the Queens Jubilee was a full Union/UK flag covering the whole plane. No decals for that baby yet.
