Julian,
Your instrument panel really looks quite good. For my next WW11 build I'm planning to finally kick it up a few notches and go with the Airscale instruments. They're just the best out there.
Every time I see those Radu's Sutton Harnesses, I'm just amazed at the detail and complexity of them.

I am quite chuffed with the final result.

Looking good so far Julian!
BTW: I surrendered! I purchased the beastie from my LHS on the weekend (much to the bemusement of Mrs E) and also his little brother in 1/72!
Goodness knows when I'll get around to either of them!

Can you tell me what number the decals are on the tank behind the seat? There is nothing shown on my set of pre-production instructions.
I am just about to post a picture of my instrument panel finished using the kit decals; its quite good but you can see that the Airscale decals are superior. I'm quite happy with mine though as the canopy will be closed

Excellent instrument panel Julien, that's something else I am going to have to add!
And I drive a Honda Civic 2.2 CTDI by the way.

Hi Julian,
The panel and engine both look great. The instruments look very sharp and in this scale, pretty legible.
And I can't believe they're selling these in Australia.. Russell, you lucky b!
cheers
Michael

Believe it Michael-if you're having trouble picking one up in NZ my LHS has an ebay shop here
If you read through the full listing, they may be willing to post out to NZ

I think you will really enjoy this model Russell, needs some good cleaning up but the fit is great and the detailing is very well done.

Hi Mal, thanks, quite enjoying this build. The placards on the oxygen tank are pure eye candy and are not mentioned at all in the instructions. They come from the Airscale placard set, an "Oxygen" label and what looks like a data sheet. Not even sure it will be visible once the fuselage is assembled so I wouldn't really worry about them. I saw your instrument panel, looks really good. You are going for a full buttoned up flying build I read so a lot of the detail won't be visible. I am planning a "Naked Tiffie" build to show as much detail as possible so we are headed in rather different directions at the moment

Hi John,
Yep, the bill keeps getting bigger
The reference to the Typhoon powerplant and adding it to front end of my Volvo came after reading an article on line about Clostermann's first take off in a Typhoon. Apparently he didn't handle the beast with proper respect on take off and the torque of the engine nearly ran him off the runway. He did get airborne but it sounded as if the beast scared him s******s at first. Must have been a real brute of an aircraft

I have to admit I was a little disappointed to see that the instruments were on the decal sheet as opposed to being already attached by airfix to the clear insert like in the Mosquito.
I didn't pick up the Airscale set specifically because I was so happy with the IP in the Mosquito, now I'll have to rethink this.

It's an even bigger dilemma Matt, Mal's instrument panel looks excellent with the OOB decals, the Airscale set goes a bit further with placards for the side panel and throttle quadrants.
I bet Eduard are already working on one of their pre-painted instrument panels which are gorgeous to look at.
All a question of how much cash you want to throw at the build, ( I did an article over at Model Shipwrights on the add-on sets for the 1/200 Bismarck by Trumpeter. I called it "confessions of a mad modeller" ).

Thanks, I think that there may be a few other placard decals that aren't shown on the instructions that I have, no big deal but I was just intrigued to know
Yes, completely different directions. I am privileged to have a pre-production sample to allow me to build it in flying configuration; If I had bought it I would have been reluctant to do so. As it is I will probably be buying 2, one to show off everything, engine, gun bays, cockpit, wheel wells and the other to do a closed up but on its wheels and that one will probably be in the shark mouth scheme

I've always maintained you floaty guys were a little nuts to begin with. You don't see plain guys building stuff in bottles. Removing stuff yet, but not assembling.

Sheesh, okay:
The port side panel with undercarriage, flaps and radiator shutter controls fitted along with the master compass.
Work in progress on the engine:
The colors of the ignition coils don't come out quite right on the photo's. I'll give it another try this weekend.

Good god, I can't edit my posts? I posted above using my phone and it said "Oh 'plane'? You clearly meant to write 'plain' so you could look like an idiot."
I'm loving the build. I might have to buy two Typhoons because I just love the nose so I have to build one closed up, but it seems a shame to not display all that detail. I wish they had a system a la Tamiya's Mustang to remove the panels.

The ignition coils seem to take up too much space. Makes you wonder if its possible to build the beast without the engine. Would let you display the Napier next to the aircraft. The "what to cut away"has me scratching my head though, as you say there's a lot to diplay

Oops, forgot to comment on this one.
Whilst I agree that the Eduard IPs look good (if a little shiny), I think that in 1/24 scale they would be a little'flat' unless multi layered, which itself would pose problems for us ham fisted modellers like me.
