Nice work everyone!
I had to take some time off the 1/32 Tamiya Mossie to build the Italeri Mirage for a build review (forthcoming) but I'm back at it now.

Pure building pleasure so far, though I've left off the landing gear for now contrary to instructions. Hope I don't live to regret that!

Michael, the Mossie is coming along nicely. I like the cockpit detail especially the decal on the radar screen.
Andy, great to see a Hampden being built.
I've still yet to retrieve my Whitley from the packing boxes. Who knew moving house would put such a long hold on model building?

Michael, that Mossie is coming together beautifully. It really looks like a must-have kit for the thirty-tooth fans!

I was able to do some work on the Whitley today!
Got the lower wing and spars assembled. The fit is flawless and builds into quite a strong assembly despite the large number of parts. Of interest are the holes in the lower wings for the ASW radar antenna. I really cannot wait for the Coastal Command version to be released.

why not ask Airfix for a replacement prop? Usually their customer support is very prompt in replacing broken parts

Short of getting a replacement prop, you could do an easy fix since you have the broken off blade. Just drill a guide hole in both the hub and the blade, insert a small steel pin and CCA glue it in place. Once dry, it's stronger then the original.
I use this method all the time for repairs and for when I want to modify an oleo and or wheel position.

Sure looks like almost all of the prop blad is still there from what I can see in the picture.
Here's how I make a guide hole to start the drilling. I use a sewing needle in a twist drill, but I lay it at a very shallow angle so that I can clearly see the point in relation to the surface. Then I carefully rotate so that it touches the surface and then to vertical. I just make a slight dimple and then eye ball it. If it's close enough I drill my guide hole. The other trick is to use a slightly larger hole dia then the rod so that you have a little flex adjustment for alignment. I use thick gel CCA glue on the pin when I insert it.

Great progress updates from several builds now.
Stephen, nice to see the styrene extracted from the moving boxes! Also really nice to hear that the fit is so good on this kit.
PrickleHead, very nice work on the interior. Neat paintwork on the details. Have you test-fitted the fuselage halves yet? I am interested to see how this kit fits together.
Andrew, almost there! The paint and decaling looks good, just those pesky finishing touches now. It's a shame about the prop and spinner damage, but it is definitely worth having a go at drilling and pinning. As Joel said, it makes for a stronger part in the long run. You should be able to find some brass or aluminium tube the same diameter as the shaft.
While you have the drill out, open up the front of those air intakes and drop some black paint inside, I find these little touches make a huge difference to the look of the build at the end.

Michael: That Mozzie is a beast and looking good with the work on it.
Andy: The Hampden is looking good, sucks about the prop. I had the same problem with my build on my Seehund sub. I broke one of the pins that holds the rudder in place and my history of drilling plastic is about as good as yours by the sounds of it. I managed to drill it then promptly broke the other one!
Aussie Reg: I had read bad things about the fit of the fuselage of the Maryland but she buttoned up nicely without too much trouble at all.

Cheers Damian, Joel, Prop drilled and pinned last night, looks OK. Thanks for the pic Damian, needed that to get the depth of the heat affected zone on the cowling behind the exhaust collector ring, I note it is actually two colours, presumably the paint burns off above the ring and is discoloured further back. That photo also shows the location for the pilots machine gun, that aircraft has the early short exhaust, without the flame trap. Nice pic, thanks

lots of great builds are going on here. Now, here is my entry. The Revell, former Dragon kit: Dornier 335.
I would call it centerline-twin
.
Looking in the instructions, it is said a balance weight (20 g) has to be put into the wing
. Has anybody already built this kit? I guess this is pretty much weight for a small place.

I have Pierre Clostermann's book, The Big Show and I think he chased a 335 in a Tempest at low level and couldn't catch it. (His book is a great read too.)

Yes, there is a weight to put in the nose
but, additionally into the wing
and this really confuses me. Probably, I have to strengthen the landing grear due to the high load.
