so, i deleted the previous two posts because i experienced a bit of a setback with the F4F today and was a little pissed off about it.
when next you see it and there is no gun bay... well, just act like there never was one, ok? thanks.

Well, Guys seems I am out.
I could not get proper decals for my F4F-3. The solution I now try is using the numbers from a Yellow wing decal sheet --- and then I still lack the small Fritz the Cat emblem. getting this sheet will take 2 or 3 weeks (my supplier says) and I only have the next week end left (wich is already in February).
This is how far I am (was) taken yesterday:
I have no luck with the campaigns ending in early 2008 ... one weekend of illness makes my whole nice plan go wrong ... missed the dead line with my La-5FN, screwed my Super Etendard, cannot finish the Wildcat .... grrrr
better stop here or I would have to delete posts as vance did
all the best
Steffen

That is too bad, Steffen. Your build looks good - too bad you cannot finish in time.
Hope you have more luck with the campaign buils in the future

well, I am going to have to pull out of the running as well. Haste makes waste, and between 3 setbacks, all more or less because I was in a hurry, I am fed up with this build.
1st the model drove off without me in someone else's car because I had taken it with me to work on it away from home.
Then, once I recovered it, a bottle of CA glue burped up a huge glob onto the wing with the gun bay.
Thinking of no way to recover the detail in the gun bay, I decided to fill it in and rescribe. In the middle of that, I managed to tear off the photo etch cowling flap on the side.
Since this is supposed to be a fun hobby, I am giving myself a cease and desist order. I'm cutting my losses and moving on.

Sorry to hear that, Vance. Extremely bad luck. I agree with you, it should be fun, otherwise it is not worth doing.
Hope you have better luck with the next one

Looking forward to see more

Jesper:
I actually have a P-40K that I was originally going to do in SAAF then Soviet Markings, but didn't have decals for. Yesterday evening I found some cool decals for a 26th FG machine based in China in 1944.
I am going to do these markings regardless, but... Could I please renounce my previous withdrawl from the campaign and ask for a small time extension? pretty please?
The plane is pretty much ready to be shot with paint, as I have only been waiting to find decals. I know I bought the kit in October (the LHS had a sale) and started building in November, so it fits in the campaign start time frame without ambiguity.
And I think China qualifies as East Asian more than the Coral Sea does...
Thanks for the consideration, -v-

Whooo, this is coming in close. Jesper, when the deadline is listed as being January 31st, does that mean my entry has to be done by 11:59 pm January 30, or do I have until 11:59 pm on January 31?
I'm soooo close to being done, but I'm not sure I'll get it in unless the deadline is 11:59 pm on the 31st. Trust me, it'll be worth it, though!
Also, do my photos have to go in a special folder somewhere on KitMaker's server or can I just link directly from my own web space (as I have been doing). This is my first campaign, and since I'm coming down to the end, I don't want to make any last minute mistakes! Thanks!

Hi, you can have another week if you want to. A couple of other participants are also in need of another week. When you have finished you can have the ribbon awarded.
You need to upload the pictures [http://photos.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php/cat/19875]HERE[/url] (at least one picture of the finished model)
Thanks for participating

Jesper -
My Ki-44 is painted and decalled, but the final clear and matt coats are not on. I should be done by the weekend, however. Any chance of an extension, please?
Grant
PS - I will try and get some pics uploaded tonight as well.
PPS - By the way - I've really enjoyed this, despite the late start. Gave me a chance to get two more kits built, and I've really enjoyed the work that others have been doing for the campaign. Thanks, all!

Okay, thanks for the info, Jesper. I'll definitely have my entry done by tomorrow night, so I may not need the extension, but it's good to know just in case. Thanks again and more soon...

Good job I checked!
I finished this build months ago and totally forgot to upload any photos into the gallery.
Done the deed now though!
Thanks for a great campaign Jesper.

Thanks to Jesper generously agreeing to extend my deadline, I am getting back on the horse after my disaster of haste.
I am going with a P-40K-5 of the 25FS/51FG stationed in China in the summer of 1944.
Besides adding some harnesses, thinning the gear doors and a few other components, and hollowing out the exhaust stacks, this one is pretty much straight from the box (Hasegawa 1/48).
It had it's tricky moments (mostly due to their trying to make the molds do as many versions as possible), but generally it was an excellent kit.
Here are some pictures summing up where I am at with this build:
The seat belts are wrong - I originally intended this to be in SAAF markings. But at least I painted them to be more of a US color strap...

Hi Jesper
I regret to say that you have another "straggler". I'm going to need about an extra week to finish my Frank, if that's OK. Things have gone smoothly on the kit, that is when I've had a chance to work on it, but a lot of "real world" stuff came up and I slipped farther and farther behind schedule. Sorry--I hate missing deadlines.

Hello everyone,
I finished my Monogram P-39. I really enjoyed building the kit. It is the aircraft flown by USAAC Lt. Leslie Spoonts of the 57th fighter group at Kodiak, Alaska from mid to late 1942. Spoonts claimed to have destroyed three enemy planes during his tour in the Aleutians. He was not given official credit for them and he may have destroyed three Japanese Float Planes on strafing runs.
I viewed video of the operations on Adak and there was considerable footage of P-39’s along with some good quality still photos. I tried to recreate the wet and muddy finish of the aircraft. That’s why it appears darker than most Olive Drab/Neutral Grey finishes. (Frankly I didn’t know what I was doing and I doubt I could ever recreate that finish again).
No after market decals exist for Aleutian P-39’s so the markings were a combination of Aftermarket letters, numbers and national insignia. The kill marks came from an AMT P-40 kit. The kit was build stock and I only added a small piece of plastic square stock behind the armored rear glass and painted it black to suggest the aircraft radio.
I have had a great time viewing every ones models and all I can say is what a great Campaign and thank you Jesper!
Sincerely,
Brian

@Nige, glad you enjoyed the campaign and got your entry up in time
@Vance, looks good. A very nice cockpit. Are you going to build it with the cockpit open to show of all the details?
@Brian, great entry. Nice to hear a little background history of your build. You really did a great job on the weathering and shading of of the surfaces. A great entry. Glad you enjoyed the campaign and thanks for participating
