What aircraft did the first round trip in a day across the atlantic and what year was it

It depends on how you define the question as I have found two possible answers but I'll go with this one:

A British Canberra on the 26th August 1952 when it flew non-stop from Aldergrove, Northern Ireland, to Gander, Newfoundland, and back in 7 hr., 59 min. flying time.
