Hi Andy

I thought the switches etc. looked pretty old-fashioned, so I'll follow a hunch that it might be from one of your Century Series fighters. Is it the F-106 mock-up?

All the best

Do you really mean the F-106 Delta Dart (because its not that one), or a later designation one

Hi Andy

Crikey! That's far too complicated for a propellerhead like me who knows next to nothing about jets! I'll go with Nige... it's a MiG!

Hi again Andy

Ohh dear... there seem to have been a load un-built developments of the Delta Dart! I'll go for the most radical - the F-106X with canard wings...

All the best

Ok a little recap .
Its a mocked up cockpit
Its a jet (MiG ),
Its a Century series aircraft,
Its not a F-106 or any later variant of a F-106.
Its not that hard really .

Hi Andy

Sorry - by your clue, I thought you meant it was another Convair.

OK - it's the mock-up for the North American XF-108 Rapier.

It looks Russian, but I don't know enough to narrow it down further.

Hi Nige

That could well be a line of enquiry worth pursuing... and that's the last clue for tonight!

Going along Nige's line of thinking.....

Is It a Yokosuka P1Y or possibly a variant say a P1Y1b

Hi Allen

No, it's not a Yokosuka aircraft.

First clue - the a/c was more usually seen without the prominent turret.

Hi Samantha

"Mad guesses" are obviously good! Bullseye! It's the reconnaissance version of the J1N1 and the pic's taken from Robert Mikesh's excellent book "Broken Wings of the Samurai".

Over to you for the next question.

I should have known better as I bought the Tamiya kit from my LHS last month in the off chance of building it for the Rumble in the East Asian Sky campaign.
