Well here's the latest 1/144 to hit the door mat.

An in box (should that be bag) review of the MQ-9 will be submitted in the next couple of days.

Oh the F-16 contains three kits, but only one will get the in box decals the others have some AM 'Dirty Diana' decals waiting.

FWIW, Bruce's F-18 has been posted at Internet Modeler. Just scroll to "Features" and look under "Aviation".

Luciano,
Looks to me like you made a Great Haul there !!!! How are the Mini-wings kits ? And speaking of F-16's, has anyone found a Good 1/144th F-16 yet ? The DML one had an intake too small, and the canopy was squashed down in my opinion. Just wondering if anyone actually found a decent -16 yet ?

At present I'm finishing a Platz F-8. What a Kit !!! Fits together extremely well, there are now quite a few decals available, and there is plenty one can do with that kit ! Stay tuned whenever I actually get it finished for a few pics,,,,well worth the money, guys.

Take it easy................... Bruce

Among other things I'm working on a 1/144 Revell F-4 Phantom. I purchased some Jolly Rogers decals for it from Evilbay. I think it'll be a nice addition to my Jolly Roger F-14 and F-18. I also went on t buying tear of 1/144 kits. I'll post when they arrive.

Does anyone have a good sourse for 1/144 scale decals? Two of the kits I bought were open ( knew this going into it) and the decals are shot. Want something cool for an F-18 and EA-6 Prowler

Dirk,
You bet ! Decals in 1/144th, I suggest you go to starfighter decals.com or HLJ (Hobby Link Japan) and check out MYK decals. I think you might also be able to google MYK direct. They have quite a line of interesting up to date decals in 1/144th. If you have any further questions just let me know.

Take Care....Bruce

Hi there

Roy Sutherland has very kindly sent through a great bundle of his BarracudaCals for the P-40. I'll review them, but once that's done there'll be 2 x 1:144 sets of markings that are "bonuses" on the 1:72 sheets, so I'll slice them off and scan the instructions if anyone wants them individually.

Sheet #72005 features a selection of P-40B Tomahawks and P-40E Kittyhawks of 112 Sqn. RAF.

Sheet #72006 is for USAAF P-40Es, including the famous "Aleutian Tigers".

PM me if you're interested.

All the best

Rowan

Good stuff. I'd be interested in both the 1/144 and 1/72 sets.

On the same topic of Decals I need some more help.

I'm looking to do some sets of different aircraft of squadrons. So far I've started with the F-14, F-18 and F-4 of the VF 84 Jolly Rogers. I'd like to do the same for the VF-111 Sundowners. Dose anyone know where I can find 1/144 Sundowners decals for the various different Sundowner aircraft (I have the F-14) like the F-4, F-5, F-18 and F-8? If they even make them.... Thanks in advance

Here is my latest 1/144 project. Its a OLD Revell EA-6B I found on Evilbay. It was part of a combo pack that included what appears to be an equally old F-18 kit. My though process was that for the cost I would get two kits that I could experiment with without feeling guilty if I screwed it up like I would if it was one of the newer better $14 + kits you find around today. Besides I love the look of the Prowler.

The Box art

The Parts

Not much, two parts spree and a tiny spree for the glass parts

The Direction Sheet

The Decals (Ouch)

Yeah, I knew what they were like prior to getting the kit. These actually make Airfix's decals look good. The replacement decals have already been ordered

As usual I started with the cockpit. I did some painting and then made an attempt to add some detail. Right off the bat this kit has one advantage over the Dragon kits is they didn't put those alien pilots in the cockpit from the movie The Day the Earth Stood Still

Closed up the fuselage

Thanks for looking

Last night I had a farewell party for a co-worker to go to so I didn't get a lot of time in at the bench. But I did get a little done. Mostly filling and sanding and filling and sanding and then some more filling and sanding. I know this is an old kit but it seems like a worn out kit. All the lines seem a bit rough. Anyway as you can see there was a bit of a fit issue so I had to break out the Evergreen styrene and do some patchwork.

Wow, I had no idea there was such a community out there for 1/144 scale. I actually only started into it for the Revell C-17, which led me to get some of the Dragon armor to accompany the aircraft. I was surprised to find PE grills for the armor. The C-17's are beautiful builds, but other than oddities such as those, I wasn't aware there were so many good kits out there. Looks like I should starts checking out the Mini and Sweet kits?

Adding paint to plastic. For this one I used Model Masters Enamals Light Ghost Gray and Insignia White.

The Insignia White was horrible to work with. Even after days of sitting the paint was tacky. I left lots of dirt and finger prints embedded in the finish.

That gear is looking a pit warped

Next came the Starfighter Decals These decals SUCK!!! Ok, maybe they don't suck that bad. It's most likely my skills. To be fair i'm use to Dragons cardboard like decals that can hold level in a wind storm. The Starfighter decals calmer for the fetal position as soon as they pull away from the backing paper. Then to make things worse they were very difficult to move into place once they hit the plastic.

Folks,
OK then....it has been awhile since we had any action with this thread. That plus you folks have heard me babble on about the Platz F-8. Well, as you can see below, it is real and finally completed.

So how is everyone else doing ? .........Keep Modeling, Bruce

Dirk,
There are several outlets in the States carrying the Platz F-8. E-Bay has several available if you like that route, or....I just checked and Sprue Brothers models has the new F-8K kit available. Hope this helps.

Peter,
Very nice job with the Beaufighter ! Whose kit is that ? Is it a kit, or solid resin ? I'd appreciate any information on it. Thanks again.................Bruce

Lucas,
Hi I have now bought one on those drawing pens but wonder how you actually use it!!?
Do you just dip it in the paint and draw, and do you have to hold it with the thumbwheel down so as the paint is retained in the lower jaws?

regards
Peter

Hi Peter, I´m sorry for the long time to reply...

Just dip in the paint and draw.. there are no secret. It´s easy...

Best regards,

lcuas
