Magnus: Thanks a lot for Your comment. The Puma comes from Revell and the tractor is probably a John Deere but definitely from WIKING (Spur N).

The PanAm 707 is a "Made in USSR" ex-Frog model kit with TwoSix decals,
The Northwest DC-7 is a Welsh vacuform kit with Vintage Flyer decals,
and the Saturn DC-8 is an ancient Lodela/Revell kit, decals from TwoSix.

Jonathan: Wow, the paint job is done flawless. How do You keep dust or small particles away from the model surface to reach a high gloss appearance?

What I did this weekend:
I have assembled, glued, puttied and painted the new F-toys Night fighter Beaufighter. I am going to make it into NGoR as flown by Wg Cdr John "Cats eyes' Cunningham.



The rocket support platform has been removed and the holes filled (along with the holes for the stand and torpedo).
Interestingly Tamiya 'Rubber Black' XF-85 is a dead match for the Black!!
The Brass coloured exhaust collector needs to be toned down a LOT(!!) to a Burnt metal colour (That I am going to cover in worn Black paint).

I have used the PE set from ShelfOdditiy that they have made for my Arado 196:



Also, filled the panel lines:


As well as started the detailing of the cockpit:


I have used the 'Perfect plastic putty' to smooth out the 3D printer lines on the Shapeways Henschel 126 by Kampflieger and detailed the cockpit:



And lastly cast some Walrus(es) and started a build:

Sooo I just started my first 1/144 scaler today... How do you guys do it? I can't paint this small

Staying away from coffee helps

Drinking coffee helps....hehehe.....No seriously it is just about practice. I sometimes do 1/72 of the model I will build in 1/144 to learn what is where and how to paint/weather/dirt the area. Well actually I think staying away from 1/48 helps more than coffee in either way:P

I built a 1/72 scale modal a while back. Thing was HUGE! I felt like an iron worker swinging the wings around.
I had to buy some 1/2" brushes, and couldnt beleive how much paint it took to cover it! the pilot figures were giants!

whats more I never put down the 4X lens on my magnivisor once.

It's just a bit of a struggle, ing from a 1/24th Huey, to a 1/144 Hellcat

haha, that is about as different as you can get! You are about to acquire a whole new set of skills. And new tools - tiny tools. "jewelers" tools. And tiny paint brushes - 00s and even 000s

Well, dont let that kit turn you off from 1/144 scale model building forever. Some of us are really unhappy that Revell reissued those kits. they were pretty poor 40 years ago, and look even worse compared to the state of the art available today.

This is a little detailing I did to the recent F-toys Beaufighter night fighter Special (see above post for early preview).
I changed it from the BQoI of 600Sqn to NGoR of 604Sqn as flown by Wg Cmdr John Cunningham.
New decal codes were from Methusla, Radar was from PE scraps, cockpit detailed with PE seatbelts and painted details.
The cowlings were repainted in Aluminium and then tinted with patches of Blue-Grey and Golden-Grey. A coat of decanted hairspray was brushed on and then when dry some Tamiya XF-85 Rubber Black overpainted. this was then gently removed with a wet paintbrush to achieve the weathered look. The whole plane was weathered with Flat clear acryl by Model Master. The gun and exhaust stains were done with MIG pigments.

Outstanding Beau ! I really like the finish. 1/144th is tough enough to get a realistic finish with...but to weather it to the extent you have is taking it to the next level. Using the hairspray technique on 1/144th ? My compliments to you, Sir, a tremendous job !
