Roy, your dio looks great. I have the waist gunner kit in my stash, and hopefully when I build it, it comes out half as nice as yours.

Robert, thanks for the comment, this is a fairly simple kit, so hopefully I can finish it by the deadline.

Here is a little update. I have completed the major assembly and have the underside painted, some of the paint leaked through the tape, so I need to do some touch-up to the stripes. Oh well, just need to burnish the tape down better next time.

Steffen, Get well and don't worry about minor things. Your health is more important than being on-line or sitting in front of a desk with bits of plastic. When you are well, then you can worry about modelling again. Don't rush yourself. The campaign will wait for you.

Thank you guys!!!

recovery is advancing fast .. still no joy regarding a nice i-net access (I can lure myself into a schooling room from time to time, but I can hardly check my email and the PMs there but not answer)

Today I have a few hours off again to check my mail box (the real hardware one) .. some nice stuff was waiting for me

I do not know how long I will be in the hospital as a rehab will follow.

Good luck with your BfE projects! .. the deadline is near

cheers

Steffen

Hi Steffen

I was shocked to hear the news of your ill health. It's great to see you posting again, but take it easy and don't overdo it. Here's looking forward to seeing you back fully fighting fit very soon!

All the best

Hello Jean-Luc and Rowan

many thanks mates!!

I have read your PMs but as explained above I could not answer. Today I had to organize a few things ... I do not want to clog up this thread with my personal stuff. I'd say I am back to normal, but I have to do further "home improvements" to prevent similar things in the future ...

all the best

Halifax finally completed and delivered to RAF Topcliffe, a base that operated the type in WW2 although the aircraft shown flew from Middleton St. George (now Durham Tees Valley Airport). This aircraft was flown by Plt Off Geoffrey Cheshire of 76 Sqn where Topcliffe housed 112 Sqn which (too late) I found a drawing of a Mk11. The Revell kit is only fair with a number of poor areas (mainly the engines - very poor fitting). The transparencies, although thick fitted surprisingly well and the decals were good. It is not possible to make the early Mk11 from the kit as flown by 112 sqn as the mid-upper turret is the wrong shape.
As background the members of 645VGS flying Grob Vigilants (109B) from RAF Topcliffe are making models of every type that flew from the base and the Halifax was the second one, the first being an Airfix Mk111 as flown by the Canadian squadrons based there from 1943 on. If anyone knows of a Miles Marathon kit....
Thanks for the kind words Jesper. Pics posted on the campaign website

Thanks, Topcliffe was a Canadian station from 1943 and our current unit badge recognizes that and includes a Maple leaf in honour of those guys. If you see the close proximity of the 7 fields in that area and factor in night operations, you realize how brave they were just taking off and landing, never mind the missions

well, my 109 has been primed and is awaiting the airbrush, but I've got no time... =(

It is perfect airbrushing weather right now too, which is what really sucks about it - cool, but not cold, low humidity,... oh the injustice!

anyway, guess i'm not going to finish by friday. I'll post anyway when i do.

Andrew:
Congratulations on completing the Halifax. It looks great and i know that is not the easiest kit to finish.

Carl:

It does not look like I will finish on time. Is there a chance for an extension? Here is where I am at with the build. Getting close

I am not going to ask for an oficial extension from the Campaign Gods. But everybody should go ahead and finish as they can. I will award ribons as photos are submitted. That way, everybody gets their ribbons without delay, and has plenty of time to finish.

And now you know the rest of the story.

hello all,
i got my Spitfire done.it is not the best model i have built, when i was in the hospital getting some new steel ribs and having a third of my lung removed,Tigger the Wonder Dog got ahold of the kit.i the holes in the wings fixed but no matter how much work i did i could not fix the seams on the wings to the fuselage and the fuselage halves, and he ate some of the decals,so i did what i could.
i do think that the paint job came out pretty good.

hope you like it.i will post the 3 photo's i have in the gallery.
this was a great campaign with some spectacular builds.i have learn a lot from all of the WIP posts.
cheers,
Bruce
PS i cannot find the gallery to place my photo's.my info on the campaign shows the stop time as Oct.31,2008.did i miss something.
