Hi all!

I use to say; If it´s weird, ugly or colorful it´s worth building.

This N-9MA qualifies in all categories!

My flying wing is done!

This was a very easy to build short run kit with very good fit.
I hardly used any filler, only a smear on the front edges.

As this kit is easy to build, have quite few pieces and only three resin pieces, I can recommend this as a first to anyone who want to try a short-run, mixed media kit.

The short run nature of the kit and the vac-formed canopy poses some challenges though, but they are not hard to overcome if you have some modelling experience.

Thanks for a fun and well-run Campaign!

Mission accomplished!

Cheers!

Hi all,

Dornier 17 update....

Lower half of cockpit tub attached to fuselage. I attempted to fit the wings, but the fit is quite tight. It results in some distortion of parts, so I think a considerable amount of sanding will be required to get a good fit

Engines are complete, cylinders painted and given a light dry brush of silver. I have added bracing to simulate that on the real thing. I am not sure how accurate it is, my references don't have clear pictures but it seems pretty representative.

Finally, a shot of the main gear legs. On the kit the wheel to leg fitment is poor, so I drilled out the legs and wheels and made new axles out of styrene rod.

Thats all the major parts assembled, next stage is to put them all together and shoot some paint. As alwasy, comments and critque most welcome.

Regards

Steve

Hi all,

Another Flying Pencil update....

Wings are on after much sanding and adjustment. I have had to settle for leaving some filling, or otherwise the dimensions of the wing would be lost.

There are large gaps on the underside which will need attending to. Fortunately the gaps are only wide not stepped so will be easy to fill.

There is quite a large step at the rear wing/fuselage join that needs sorting. This needs a fair bit of filler and careful sanding, I think some rescribing of panel lines as well.

Here are the completed engines, just the intakes need adding but they will be done post painting.

Hopefully today I will get final assembly done and some paint on the thing.

Year I know its late, but a friend gave me a hasegave 1:48 P 38 J some time ago, and i have been working on it the last month or so. Suddenly I saw that there was a campain going on, and ... well, here it is--....

Being a diehard armour modeller, building a airplane is surely something very different - a whole different approch you might say - so lots of work for the little grays ..

I wanted to practice on some pre- and post shading, so a green finish would be ideal for me.

Heres my inspiration - its located at Dulles:

Preshading and basecolor on the underside

Allmost there or ?

Hello, I’ve been working on this P-38 monogram kit for some time. Progress has been slow and I want to finish in time so I need to just buckle up and do it. The kit engine booms were hard to align and I have been doing lots of sanding. I am going to replace the wheels with a nice set from true details. The markings come from aftermarket sheet and will be “Journey’s End” I also purchased a detail and scale book about the P-38 and I hope to add some small details not in the kit.

I got a wild hair this last weekend and dove into my Dragon Ju88G6 kit for some reason, instead of the Dinah I was going to do for this campaign. It was just calling to me...

either that, or the really cool camo scheme I found in a book last week for it is stuck in my head and wants out.

So I guess this will be my campaign entry.

after 8-10 (ish) hours of work, here is where I am at:

I have done variations of this kit a couple times, so I am starting to get pretty good at whippings these out it seems. I hope the rest goes as rapidly as getting this far has.

Hello all. Finally finished with 1/48 Eduard BF-110C. Most enjoyable build. Except for the exhaust area. I see that now Quickboost has replacement parts out, combining the many small parts to two per engine. I did not have that available, but I would recommend that anyone building this series of fighters consider those AM parts.

Tom

All these amazing completed builds, and I'm still sitting on my first color of paint done! oh well. You guys make me feel lazy..... or busy, one of the two.

Here's how the Havoc's shaping up. I'm gonna have to clean around the turret and throw some more paint on there. I let a friend look at it, failing to notice he was dripping in sweat from running......

I have my last exam in about 9 hours, and after that it's home for the summer where I can REALLY sprawl out on my model desk at home (sprawl out indicating that I don't have to clean up my desk to do homework). That will be nice since I have FOUR projects going now. Stupid campaigns, so tempting.............

Dornier update time,

I finally got some bench time in on this one, and now it looks like it should.

Main assembly is all done, now just needs some paint putting on.

Glass house took the best part of three hours to mask, there are so many individual panels. There are nearly as many on the underside. No one seems to do pre-cut masks for this kit in this scale, so it was out the the Tamiya tape and a sharp blade.

Primer on tonight, then on to some pre shading...

More soon

Scary work on that masking - I would have freaked out before being done

Decided to give my P 38 something to sit on:

And here it is with the plane in place.

Wow! fantastic job on that one Tom!

now i want to do one.

Well, with June fast coming to a close, I am not getting anywhere fast after my initial burst of work on the Ju-88G. Work and being ill are killing me!

Oh, for a day off that I can actually use to sit back and relax with a model kit... {sigh}

Steffen, Very nice cockpit! You are on a tight schedule. I am crossing my fingres for you Looking forward to see what you make of it. Have you decided on the camouflage scheme?

Carl, I hope your wife recovers quickly.
