Hi Jesper and Carl
Thanks for your forgiveness
@Carl: I am not fully done yet .. some stencils and a lot of small parts to add (maybe I am doing the stencils tonite) .. still a close call for my modelling speed (I just started the L3H (hauler) .. great model BTW
@Jesper: This one will be all closed up (I like the MG dent in the early variants) .. well, you can see the problem at the lower teeth (where I had to make two out of one and the red is shining through) .. but when it stands on its wheels it is barely noticeable.
A propos wheels .. hope i can get replacements later. I bought some fore the late variants from hangar48, sadly those for the C are not ready yet
cheers
Steffen

Hello,
I been able to sit down a couple of evenings over the past few weeks and I managed to get enough parts put together so that looks like a P-38. I put some lead weight in the nose and it will sit but touch the tail and down it goes. I am going to put some more in the engine nacelles and that should solve it.
I have some transmission fluid screen that I used for the boom intakes and the engine intake screen I think it turned out okay. Still more seems to file and sand down where the wing and booms meet but nothing to bad.
I plan on priming it this week and hope to paint it by next weekend.

Excellent work on that OD finish on that B-10, Brian. Normally i try to avoid the plain OD as much as possible because its a little, well, dull. But you did an nice job of making it pop.
I've been making slow but steady progress on my Ju-88G-6 this last week. With some luck, work will stay managable thru the end of the month and I'll be able to get it done just in time. I am shooting for having it ready for paint in the next few days and hopefully a slow weekend this coming one will give me the time to get it mostly finished.
I'll see about posting some progress pics tonight or tomorrow (just bought a new camera!)

Well I have the majority of the paintwork done now. I used WEM RLM72 and 73 and then faded and toned with RAF anti flash white and RLM04 gelb just to break up the large slabs of colour.
Next time I get to the bench I'll add some chips and paint blemishes in preperation for the miracle masks
Hope you guys like.

Great Work Brian!!! I never though that bright blue thing could turn out like this!
@Bryan and Howard: Great Progress! Howard .. the colours 72/73 look "wrong", but that might be the photo. IIRC they should look like 70/71 just a little more blueish ... yours look like 82/83 .. hmm, maybe I am counting nuts and bolts her. What counts is that YOU are satisfied ...
here is my progress. I "Klear"-ed the model and gave it a nice oil wash with burnt umber, a touch of black and a warm grey (not all mixed together but several mixes in different places. I used the red bottle MIG stuff as thinner. The pictures "swallow" much of the effect on the upper side .. but it looks ok to my eye (see remark above )
cheers
Steffen

Hi Steffen, GULP!! I'm a bit worried now as when spraying on the dark green (looks brown in the photo) I was thinking it wasn't what I expected but I trusted WEM
I wonder if it's the fading thatmakes them appear wrong although I'm nervous now and I want to get home and check what paint I have used incase I made a mistake!!
Thank you for your comments though.

Hi Howard!
Your build looks really good, but I have to agree with Steffen, the colors look a bit "off" for 72/72.
This is my Arado Ar196, finished in WEM 72/73 over 65
I used the paints straight from the bottle, but they look good enough to me, maybe a bit on the dark side though.
Cheers!

Howard, I really think it is to lite. That being said, I still think it looks fantastic. It would be a shame to lose that wonderful shading.

I think it's the picture guys. I even took the plane into the garden last night to check the colours and they're deffo both greens.
Heres a photo from next to a window:
Still looks a little brown in this pic. Might be my camera as in the plastic it looks really close to Steffan's Arado.

Basically I wanted the aircraft to look a little bit weary and battle hardened. It's a large plane and large slabs of colour would just look too boring in my opinion so taking inspiration from Lampie's OD T'Bolts I went for a faded and shaded look.
Please bear in mind the washes and filters haven't been applied yet.
That said I will take a pic with my DSLR instead of my little fuji Finepix and see if that shows it up any better.
:)

Hi Howard
exactly my feeling. Maybe you just took the wrong bottles (82/83) instead of 72/73. But my 82/83 colours are still a little different. Yours just is too bright. remember this is the "ocean" camouflage which needs dark tones
yours
my Arado 234C in 82/83
here are 72/73 pictures of Arado 196s (not the best source for measures but god to see how the colour appears)
Have a look here for the colours Don Color: Luftwaffe See Tarnung.
The tones are not bad but as already stated mucho toooooooooo bright. I do not think this is repairable with washes .. maybe a very dark filter but better repaint it -- but thats just my 2 cent
cheers

Steffen, I was so worried last night I rechecked what paints I had used and they DEFINATELY were 72/73. If we look at the AR196 posted above:
In the plastic mine look almost identical but less glossy. (no offence phantom, your 196 looks great)
I'm pretty sure the camera is showing it to be too light as they're pretty dark and both green as opposed to the 82/83.

Hi Steffen
I hope you understand I do not want to appear argumentative as I do appreciate your comments and your knowledge.
The particular camera I have used to take the pictures has an auto white balance and is more of a quick pic camera as opposed to my Minolta Dynax 7D. I'll take a picture using the DSLR tonight if I can. I have lightened the paint slightly to give a faded look of a well used aircraft thats been serving in the heat of the med

I wouldn't change it. WEM really does a good job of color matching. Much better than the Luftwaffe did.

Hi Howard!
Don´t worry, It´ll take a lot more to offend me!
I do know how the camera and flash can alter colours, really odd sometimes.
For my Photos I had to do several tries and they came out very dark too, I had to turn the brightness up quite a bit in the pic-editor, so the colors would show up properly.
Just remember, It´s your model and if you are happy with it, so are we!
I love the shading effect you have accomplished on this one, and I´m looking forward to see it finished!!
Cheers!

Hi Carl
Well, if the colour is wrong then it is wrong no matter how good the reputation of the manufacturer. You would not buy a brown Mercedes when you ordered a green one, would you?
Hello Howard
It looks really good! Please understand that I was not discussing a shade off but it looked like different colours. Honestly I am pretty sloppy with colours myself as I think it would be wrong if I'd paint all models the same shade. Like you I like to imitate the conditions the original was used in.
looking forward to your progress!!
cheers
Steffen

Thank you Stefan E, I didn't want to offend you so I'm glad you took it the right way
Thanks also for the compliment on the shading, it's the first time I've tried it without using preshading. I just used the original colour as the outer panel toning. It is something I will definately do again.
Alpha Tango, I am happy we are all friends again I hope the picture with the DSLR shows the colours off better.

Great-looking projects everyone.
As much as I'd like to have my Blenheim finished in time for this campaign, I'm afraid I can't make it within the deadline. I haven't even got the cockpit interior done, let alone started on the main landing gear and the campaign ends on the day after tomorrow.
I'm such a slacker.
Well, not like The Dude, but quite a major league procrastinator anyway.
My only excuse for spending a month of extra campaign time without getting much done would that it's summertime.
But I'll abide. I'll get it done sooner or later.
Anyway, this was a great campaign to participate in.

Hi Eetu
well, some White Russians for breakfast and you should finish it in time ...
I am also close, but I hope to make it. Sadly there are no correct wheels for the 110C available now ... hope hangar.48 will do them soon.
cheers
