Hi Steffen
Nice haul! Although my New Year's Resolution is to stop buying kits and concentrate on building again (yes, I know, we'll see how long that lasts! LOL!), I must admit I've been seriously tempted by Special Hobby's Beast!
All the best

Hi Jean-Luc and Rowan
Well ... errr .. you might notice that I almost exclusively have AM stuff (the kits are samples ). Except one (the Nose cone was an order gone bad which is now a sample), every AM piece is for a model I already have so I can wholeheartly say .. YES, I intend to build all of those.
Some of the samples I have are clearly to be collected as I do not always get what I want but have to take what I am offered ... there are not that many modellers standing in the line for review work and most want the very same models/AM stuff.
As already stated the kit is a sample. which will cost me a further 20 Euro to get the Mark I Decal set .. luckily the pound is almost 1:1 now --- you might have another view on that one
And I think there is another remark necessary. Normally my budget for modelling is very, very small since a few months (unemployment ...) .. I have some stragglers of old (paid) orders and one or another Early Bird at hlj but thats it. Luckily I got some gifts over X-mas and I also got some money back from an 1000km interview drive which allowed me to spend that much money on my hobby. OTOH .. you know what a HO locomotive costs or to shot a deer
so at least it is a happy start in a probably very dark year
all the best

Well Steffen I can say that in the last year I built 20 models with several on the go at the moment so yes I DO build models. I also have decided to change scale up from 72 to 48 but still keeping my 144 models going as I like them.

Hi Luciano
I did not want to imply that you do not build models (I have seen some of your projects here)...
The amount of model kits you posted in two single posts made me think you rather build up a stack than prepare modelling projects .... seems I was wrong
BTW I only finished about 10 projects this year .. but I lost some prime modelling time in autum because of my hospital stays. ... thats a "clever" excuse, isn't it
cheers

Hi all,
This is what I've got today: a building, a PaK 37 gun (on sale at Moduni) and replacment parts for my airbrush...
Two weeks ago I paid a visit to Marc Toillié ([email protected]) and returned home with my usual dose of display bases. I have just finished to paint them today...
And this is what I've got from my mother at Christmas. It will be very usefull for Fliegerhorst's 1/32 Alpha Jet kit...
Well, a lot of stuff but not a single aircraft model box!
Jean-Luc

Hi Steffen,
No it's a big 180 pages A3 size book with huge photos and a DVD. It's pretty heavy
As for the display bases, I can also show you how to paint them...

Sure but Marc only lives 50km away and I know how to find his home .. I even have a pic of his domicile, so it cannot be mistaken
OTOH If you have some time I would come along for a tea or a modelling session .. write me off board and we can make an appointment .. life is short
all the best

Horray!!
I got a parcel today with these in:
They're both more or less the same kit but I'm looking forward to building them as they both have some lovely paint schemes.

Hi all
@Howard: Very nice kits, somehow eduardish but then again MPM-ish fitwise. (.... hmm is this difficult to understand? I think I invented a lot of words for this short sentence)
@J-L: I have the G.55A review online. It is good MPM standard (better than the Il-10 but a little bit worse than the SpitVc)
Here is what my post office collected for me during my absence:
The best surprize was the small grey box I got from Dnjepopetrovsk .... Thanks a lot Ruslan!
Rowan, you may notice that I bought the Zero Set despite my prior statements ... the price was just too good to pass it (got it for about 6 Euro incl. p&p) and the guns and pitot are nice.
BTW the plastic box beside the Tamiya set is a Wolfpack Rafale B/M to F2 update set. The chaf/flare dispensers are no longer necassary for the Revell kit, but the production radom, wing tip rails and the IR heads for the MICA missiles are very nice... you may guess what my entry for the Marseillaise campaign will be
all the best

Hi Steffen,
I think I know exactly what you mean. Am I correct in thinking it's: Eduard in style but MPM in fitment

Oh man, it happened again...
Walked into a LHS today, totally ignoring the shopkeeper's warnings given last time I visited, on how the Finnish airforce boxing of Hasegawa's Ju-88 might arrive for this weekend.
And while I was at it, I grabbed an Eduard mask set as well as Techmod's decal sheet:
"Why the aftermarket decals?", you might ask. Before handing out the cash, I checked out the contents of the box, and while the decal sheet looked good, the designers had goofed slightly on the national insignias: the swastikas are a bit too small for the roundels. Not that big a deal on it's on, but the full stenciling provided (Hasegawa's sheet has less stenciling) and my previous good experiences with Techmod's decals kind of sealed the deal.
In the end, I guess could have just bought the first version of the A4 kit plus the decals... (or perhaps not, as the "laughing face" nose art looks more accurate on Hasegawa decal sheet)
However, the conclusion is: proper box art does sell.

Very nice Eetu
wrong scale, but very nice
I used my little spare money this month to complete my collection of Lw colours titles from Classic (Ian Allen). Especially since the pound is very weak at the moment. (I still lack a lot of the Jagdwaffe titles, but I have plenty of stuff on those a/c )
cheers

It's the Revel 1:32 scale A-1 Junkers that the buzz is all about at the moment?
That was all but sold out at the shop, with only one remaining. Took a look at that too. Quite impressive. And large. Kind of too large for me. And a wrong variant.
But aren't they supposed to do an A-4 as well in the future?
Posted: Friday, January 16, 2009 - 08:36 AM UTC
Also a wrong scale ...
the only true scale is 1/48 ... for me !
But suum cuique .. the "right" scale is nothing to argue about
all the best

Well, I can't quite decide between 1:72 and 1:48 myself. Depends on the subject.
1:32 on the other hand is something I haven't done in a loooong time.

Today I finally retired Revell's 1/72 Me 262 at the post office. Nice and cheap kit with a serious fault: tha canopy! I had a confirmation of what I read: bad moulding and missing rear frame. Definitely needs a replacement... do you know whether Hannants allows vacuform canopies to be shipped alone?
