Nice one Stephen
That's a great choice to try out techniques on. Des Delatorre showed just how good the kit can look a few years ago: http://www.ww1aircraftmodels.com/page32.html.

Thanks for the link. It will be very useful when I get around to building it. I must also have a look my Roden TF.1 to have a look at what I would need to do, although I think it should be fairly simple. Eduard's Lewis's are cheap and easy to get hold of and the only thing I would need to buy.
Looking forward to seeing WNW's Camel when it arrives.
Richard, I've often been tempted by that kit. I'll be looking forward to your build.

If you have the Amademobycraft kit, you've got the Revell kit, slightly shrunk.

Has anyone seen the HobbyCraft kit of the Camel recently? That was the best Camel-- they were similar but different than the Academy kit with much better wings and engine compartments and finer detailing. HobbyCraft had two-- a Clerget engine and a LeRhone engine version (at least the markings were different) but I haven't seen any Hobbycraft kits lately--- are they out of business? They also have the only SPAD XIII too-- it sure would be nice to see these kits come back-- I have several of the SPADs, but before WNW releases thier Sopwith, it would be great to see more of the HobbyCraft kits at a cheaper price point-- then I wouldn't feel bad about modifying them. I've already done Barkers Camel from Italy with the cut down cowling and upper wing-- but there were many other variations out there.

Hobbycraft seem to be out of the kit business as of late. They tried to revive their model line with a re-issue of the Avro Arrow a few years ago, but now they're back in obscurity again. Nobody seems to know where their Sopwith Camel moulds went

That's a shame, as thier Camel was really the best, and now that WNW is coming out with a no doubt more expensive Camel, the HobbyCraft kit would be a good alternative kit for conversions. Hopefully those molds have not been lost-- although I understand they were in some kind of lawsuit with Academy a few years ago-- because of similarities in many of thier kits. I believe HobbyCraft was using Academy for manufacturing. Isn't HobbyCraft a Canadian owned company, or am I thinking of Modelcraft?

Yes, Hobbycraft is Canadian, not to be confused with Modelcraft. They're primarily a marketing company, and they contracted with a Korean moulding company to produce their kits. I don't know the specifics of the lawsuit, but it resulted in Academy re-issuing many kits which were previously released by Hobbycraft. Nobody knows exactly why the Sopwith Camels weren't included. Perhaps Hobbycraft used a different company to produce them?

Folks, as always a lot of beautiful purchases here.
I couldn`t resist to buy the following after reading the most positive reviews of the single kits and looking at the builds some of you already made...:
Got the set for a "nice price" under 30€ (= 33USD/ 44CAD/ 45NZD/ 43AUD/ 223DKK/ 27GBP/ 300SEK/ 450ZAR/ 810CZK
and so on... )

Wow, nobody bought anything at Telford .. that is surprising seeing all the guys wioth bags running around. Well, I did!! (!!!)
3 P-40B from Airfix
1 Sopwith Dolphin Copper Stae Models
1 Bell X-1 Eduard (have the old one but I like the colour PE and Resin wheels)
1 F6F-5 late (Eduard for my Fündecals Set)
2 CR.32 ( I missed the 2nd CA edition and will use the 1st edition Morato Decals on one of them)
Tons of books an Aftermarket e.g.
Daco F-14 and EE Lightning
half of Marc Peacocks programme (I was lacking a few)
AlleyCat Ta 154 conv. set
Eduard stuff for Airfix Ju 87B-1 ... this is a great kit!! I even bought the new AMW issue just because of the build report in it
Eduard stuff for Me 262 B-1
Hypersonic A-3 Skywarrior engines and canopy
I did not buy the 1/48 scale B-36
just to name a few, not counting alle the fivers here plus Hotel, fuel, food (I really spend a lot on the latter )
Cosford restauration hangar was a bit disappointing this year with the Do 17 under wraps (corrosion never stops)
And yes, my wallet and credit card are on strike and need some convalescence.
all the best
Steffen
P.S. someone "snitched" me the Meng P-51D exhibition model .. no decals but that should not be a problem (Danke Andreas!). Looks great, but IMO mediocre instructions. The Airfix is at least equally good though different in approach. This new quality of Airfix kits might make me think another time about certain sea mammals...

Guys,
Nice haul from the Telford show. Living on the other side of the pond and having a wife as the FEO of the household expenses, really doesn't leave me any realistic chance of going to the show in my lifetime.

Hi folks!
This was my first visit at Telford. Having a wife sitting bored in the lounge in a killers mood and a limited luggage space for airplane (guess who took so many stupid clothes?) I couldn't go completely crazy with shopping however I brought home a great book.

It was nice to meet you Michal, we are definitely thinking about coming to Poland for a show, we just have to figure the logistics out.
Anyway one of the kits I bought, sort of aircraft related.

Andy got told off by me, Aeroscale staff buying boats, what is the world coming to. I was a bad lad even though the wife had hold of the cash and cards:
1/48th Hobby Boss F14 B
1/48th Eduard Good Morning Dana-ng
1/48th Eduard Rocking Rhino
1/48th Eduard Bf 110E
1/48th Hasegawa Black Phantom
and just to prove I am on Armorama a 1/35th scale gun emplacement from Great North Roads and some new diorama display bases from Reality in Scale.

Have to admit to only doing Telford once despite it being on my door step. The temptation to spend big is too great!
I had these arrive the last couple of days.
An unboxed 1/72 Hasegawa Mitsubishi MU-2. Sadly missing it's decals, but for the low price paid I can't complain. Might try some sort of WHIF scheme.
And another of my Holy Grail kits, the Revell repop of Matchbox's 1/32 Sea Venom. Probably going to build it as the RAF NF.3, after making resin copies of wing tanks. Need a pair to replace the missing tanks on a Matchbox original my dad half finished. It will be great to display the two together.
Keep hoping Revell would reissue it.

Hi Stephen
Nice catch.
Telford's on your doorstep? I'd be doomed! As it is, I face a double-quandary: I can't afford to go, so if I did scrape the money together to get there, I couldn't afford not to buy the bargains that I honestly really couldn't afford in the first place (are you still with me?) in order to justify the expense of going!
"Luckily", the travel from the Isle of Wight to Telford is so hopeless, I've managed to avoid the dilemma every year, so my wallet is safe and I can genuinely congratulate those who made it to the show on their great hauls!
I'm looking forward to Airfix's Ju 87 that Steffen mentioned. Touch wood my pre-order will be arriving soon - I'm sure Airfix were aiming for a Telford release - but I'm happy to call it my "Xmas present to me".
All the best

I know what you mean, getting ridiculously expensive to travel within the UK!
The new Stuka does look like it will be a great kit and deserves to sell well. I like that they've included the engine. No doubt we'll see some figures and vehicles to go with it in the near future.
Would have liked to have seen the new Victor up close and the Phantom.
Maybe I'll be able to next year.

During yesterdays club meeting this Hurricane found a new home. There even might be the chance of a triple Hurri-build next year at Rossmann Heavy Industries ...

Even heavy industries have a laboratory somewhere.
Terri, the paints I'll use on this one will come from Gunze and Vallejo with decals from a Sky Models sheet I bought a few years ago at the expo in Basel. In fact all 3 Hurris I have in mind would get their decals from the same sheet with 14 (!) options ....

I usually don't post my model purchases, but today I got a special early holiday gift from me to me. One of the reasons I made the switch to 1/32 scale props was the incredible detail that this scale affords the builder.
My brother and I just placed a Black Friday sale order with Sprue Brothers. 40% off their regular everyday price plus free shipping. I just couldn't resist, and bought the Tamiya 1/32 F4U-1A and their P-51D.

Joel, looks like the W'-Bros. made a great deal!
Those are really nice kits.
Same like Joel I made myself a pre-Chrismas present. Tested it a while ago and was keen but can't afford the price...
Normally done my few finished kits with cheap guns (especially final coats/klear/bigger areas) or used my H&S evo-silverline. But now I'm happy to get this one: A Badger/SOTAR 20/20-2 (bigger color cup)second hand but never used, with Vallejo paints (only together in a bundle, not bad at all)for low costs
Good Reviews you can find on our Network-site
