Hi again
Not from postie today, but I couldn't resist Revell Germany's re-box of the
PT-17 when I spotted it in my LHS.

At some stage I'll have a Stearman-fest using Iliad Design's superb
decals.

Rowan that's what everyone needs a nice bit of colour amongst all the camouflage

Well my wallet is cowering in the corner, I had a quick look at my favourite web store who had just put up a load of second hand kits, next thing I know these were at my door. Oh the AM with each was included in the price.

Hi again
A trip to my LHS yesterday where I picked up Airfix's tropical Hurricane, was followed by some epic deliveries today from Copper State Models, with their beautiful new Dolphin, and The Airbrush Company, with a selection of Alclad II Mil Spec enamels and metallics, along with Wilder and LifeColor weathering items:
I think it's safe to say the Hurricane will be heading straight for The Stash while I concentrate on reviews and trying out the new paints "in anger"!

Rowan,
the Alcad II military spec paints took me by total surprise. I haven't heard a thing about them, nor can I find them listed even on the Alcad site. Please post any and all info, as I'm already dying to try them out.

Hi Joel
I didn't see them coming either. They look really exciting. I'm just starting tests. They're thinned perfectly for spraying and go on really smoothly, with excellent covering power.

Rowan,
I would have expected nothing less of any paint from them. Any info on what colors are now available, and what's next to be released color wise?

Hi Joel
You can see the current range on
The Airbrush Co's website.
There are more listed for future release in the brochure they sent, so I'll type them all out for the review.

Rowan,
I took a look, and I was really surprised at the number of WWII colors that are now available, but only two US Naval colors, and no UUAAF colors. So I'll have to wait a little while for the next releases, and hope that more WWII allied colors become available.

As long as the kit is not battle damaged, everything is fine. In my Defiant box (the kit is nearly finished

), rests a Hs 129 from Revell right now. Her box was heavily hit by our post ....

Sprue Brothers have already made things right - yet another facet of their excellent service. Beneath the Defiant in the package was the new Metior with only minor damage to the box and Sprue Bros happily reimbursed for both kits plus shipping and I didn't have to return the kits . They are, IMHO, a first class organization.
Cheers ! - Richard

Not from the postie but a chairty shop find last week. Not bad for a fiver!

Went in again today and found this for the same price! Of course I asked if they had anymore, but sadly not. They did say they would keep a look out for me in future.

Hi Stephen
Great catch!... But I think they've seriously undervalued them.
I'm going to sound like I'm p*ssing on the parade, but I work for Oxfam, so could you drop me a PM about where you found them?
Charities have a dual duty - to raise the maximum on behalf of the donor, and for the intended cause. So, to let high value items slip through the net isn't something any of us who want to do some good want to see happen to our donations...
An extra fiver would have invested in a farmyard to support a family -

Hi,
Yeah they have messed up on pricing these. It was only after I bought the SE.5 that the thought occurred to me. I think it's all too easily done and they perhaps confused them with Roden's 1/72. I've had many instances on Google when I've searched for reviews of the bigger kits and the first hits were the smaller ones.
It's an independent charity shop that raises for a local hospice, so not Oxfam. In the past I've had a lot from them. Mostly books and DVD's but occasionally kits which were more realistically priced. Last summer I got AMT's cutaway USS Enterprise and Deep Space 9 station kits for £30 each.

Picked these up at a show over the weekend.

Also bought 5 pots of AK's Xtreme Metal paints. Review will be done of these paints.

Hi Joel,
I have had a quick look in the box, and the detail is exceptional. The weapons and avionics bays are superb, and the cockpit doesn't look too shabby either. I had trouble fitting all the sprues back in the box, as it is packed solid.
This kit is heading to the top of the build pile.

Hi,
I do think it was a genuine mistake. It's easy to make if your not entirely sure what it is your looking at and have to get it out on the shelf quick. Previous finds from the shop have included an original Frog Martin Baltimore (which included a tube of Frog glue!), a first release of Airfix's B-26, Smer rebox of Heller's Focke Wulf Stosser. Smer mispelled Focke with a u on the box! I bought it solely for that reason. Also picked up a few ship kits, one of the better finds being Airfix's Falklands Warships Gift Set which had a bagged HMS Fearless inside.
Anyway great to see that your Albatros has arrived safely. I can hardly wait for mine package from WNW to arrive.
