Hi Michal

well, not everyone spends hours and hours on detailing U-Boot interiors and then closing it up

This is not really a sample but my pal Volker rather sent it to me (I already did a review for my site) ...

cheers

Well, me neither...who's so stupid to build interior and close it up? ;P

BTW: Stick to my thread this weekend, I have new pics to be published and some new interesting problems to solve

Received my MOM prize sponsored by Dragon. This was one of the first aircrafts that I built back when I was a kid (it was either monogram or revell that boxed it). Can't wait to have a go at Dragon's and this will also be my first model in the 1/72 scale ...we shall see how it goes! Many thanks again to Mal and Dragon

Cheers,

Hermann

Just picked up my first 2 models, a bf 109E-4 from Hasegawa and a Swordfish Mk I from Tamiya, both in 1/48 scale. I think i'll wait before starting these because I need time to practice and develop my skills. Can any of you think of some inexpensive WWII kits for a rookie to begin with?

Alex, the really inexpensive kits are generally older ones that have been re-issued. The may not have the same level of fits as modern kits, and the moulds may be worn, and so have more flash to clean up.

For inexpensive, but modern and easy to put together, look at Academy kits. Personally, as I spend so much time on a model relative to its cost, I think Tamiya are good value when you want a simple build (1/48 Spifire?). I guess you are looking for 1/48? Even the Eduard Hellcat Dual Combo is not too expensive for two very nice models at the end.

Hi again

No new kits at Castle Aeroscale today, but look what arrived from Helen at Traplet!:

Issue #1 of Model Aviation World for Review. And the really nice thing is that Helen has sent us three (3) extra copies as competition prizes. I'll crack on with the Review this weekend and think up a nice easy question - so watch out for the Competition thread for your chance to sample the new magazine absolutely free!

All the best

Back from Scale Model World.

Got the Tamiya Mosquito for £9, and the AZ Spitfire PR Mk.IG for £14.
The big pots of old Tamiya Clear (red, orange, yellow and green) all for £3.
Cheapo side cutters (have been using wire cutters or just a knife to remove parts) for £2.50
G35 airbrush- managed to haggle in the two types of airbrush cleaner for free.

Best of show for me was the big 1/20 Tempest, but there were lots of nice little things scattered around to find- such as the 1/72 mosquito from IPMS France table that had both navigation lights and landing lights as LEDs, and two motors synched to sound of starting and stopping of the engines.

My Haul from Scale Model World this weekend. I really enjoyed the weekend and it was a nice surprise bumping into Magnusf

I managed to get the Bf109 free as almonkey had too many in his stash and wanted to loose a couple and the magazine was being given away free by Traplet. The aires set is for my phantom and the superglue, alclad and mr mark softer was to stock up on supplies. Camogirl paid for most of the P-61 so I wasn't complaining too much.

Quite a small haul this year but my car breaking down and needing repairs the weekend before Telford didn't help

I didnt make Telford again this year as I was working away, however, it doesnt stop the retail therapy!
So, this is more of a "What The Postman Bought While I Was Away"!
