Hi there
Well, I can't match anything like the fantastic hauls from Telford (thank heavens, for the sake of my wallet, that I couldn't get there! ), but I bought this yesterday to fill in a gap in our Reviews database and for comparison shots with aftermarket sets that are on the way:
And today Posty brought these beauties! The latest sets from S.B.S Model.
I don't normally build jets, but the detail in the Mirage set is simply stunning - if it had arrived a couple of weeks ago, I'd have dug the HobbyBoss kit out of the Stash for the Marseillaise campaign!
All the best
Rowan

Hi Steffen
Very nice - what with the P-51 sets here, plus Sergey's wheel well, you should end up with one heck of a Mustang!

Well, it is only half of the sets I want ... Flaps, control surfaces, wheels, prop ... but I also have to live somehow...
I think I will finish the Thunderbolt first and then I'll start a new project. Maybe a MiG-17 or the FM-2 Wildcat...

One of these arrived today. A couple of prop blades broken and the wings
snapped off the sprues but not in too bad nick. They don't make them like
this anymore thank heavens
It is a long way off but seeing your hauls from Telford makes me look forward
to the ScotNats.

Hi again
Well, I owe Sergey Kosachev a HUGE thankyou, because today's post has included a fantastic package from him!
First off, a complete set of his gorgeous FM-2 Conversion parts - click HERE for Steffen's Review:
Also Reviewed by Steffen, the P-51D Wheelwell Correction set:
And the mystery package with no label?:
This is a real act of kindness, because I stupidly managed to lose(!) the entire engine of my Vector Hs 126 when I packed up to leave London!
Many thanks Sergey!

Nice one Steffen
I'll look forward to them.
I can see why you and Jean-Luc were drooling over these sets - they are just stunning, aren't they!
I've ordered HobbyBoss's FM-2 from Model Hobbies, but I'll also have a look at what's involved in converting the Tamiya kit, as Neomega suggest (although Sergey has pointed out a problem with the position of the Tamiya undercarriage which I was unaware of previously).
All the best

I bought saws and foldr the wife had fit when she found out what the tools cost
Still. Cheaper than a bottle of malt. And in our house they'll last a hell of a lot longer.
Not entirely convinced on the Fold-R but I've not used it enough. Saws are great.
Lets us know how you get on with them.

Well i bought the Hold'n'fold when it first came out and even though I lost the spring (stupid me) I still think it was worth the investment even though I only use it once a year. The Tamiya PE bending pliers are better suited for my everyday aircraft use. My best sawing tool is the Tamiya craft saw (large, but it removes every pouring block in a matter of seconds ... and teh finger too if i am not carful enough .. don't ask how I know ) followed by the JLC saw and the Trytool Scriber Saws (on par)...
The postman just wanted to deliver my HLJ package...but he wanted some money from me ... which I keep at the bank account to have a bit (very slightly) more control .. rats now I have to get it from the post office this evening. It contains the Hasegawa F-16F Block 60 and the Tamiya M998 Hummer (already got one M998 as a sample and the M1025 MG Hummer that is separately sold from the F-117 combo box) ... BTW if you look at HLJs future releases you'll find a Hummer with Mk40 as February release .. also a Sd.251 Ausf.D "Stuka zu Fuß" both Tamiya 1/48 ...
cheers
Steffen

Hi there
Posty has just called here too, in my case with a package from Model Hobbies. They offer a useful discount on everything, but I still mustn't buy any more models this month
It seems to be the wrong way round to buy a kit to go with a correction set, but Sergey's FM-2 Wildcat parts are so good, I couldn't resist it! And the Azur Vindicator - well, one look at Jean-Luc's Review was enough to convince me that I had to have it!
On the question of photo-etch folders, I've got a Flip-R5 and I use it regularly - much more often than my Hold n' Fold. The Hold 'n Fold is great for big jobs, but the 'R5 is such a dinky little tool, I find it really handy for day-to-day etch work.
All the best

Hi Steffen
Glad you got them OK. Wow! The once-dainty F-16 is starting to look a real brute with those conformal fuel tanks and dorsal spine!

These arrived this morning.
I can't understand why Tamiya don't sell the refills in the UK, and I'm loathed to having to keep buying tape with the dispenser (being eco friendly and all that ). So I got them from an evil bay shop in Hong Kong cheaper than just one tape with dispenser would have cost here in the UK.

Nice haul everyone!
Speaking of Buckeye's: has anyone seen or heard anything about the MPM/Two Bobs 1/48 scale kit?
@Rowan: the F-16 reminds me somehow of the Bf 109 ... the G-6 was nicknamed "Beule" because of all the bulges added to ghet better weapons and engines fit ....
all the best
