Hi all,
I have picked up this today. Steffen will be happy, there are no vinyl tires and no metal chassis in this release...
A review should follow soon...
Jean-Luc
P.S. I have also received the latest Eduard Brassin wheels for their 1:32 scale Bf109 kit. Thank you very much Andy!

Hi Jean-Luc
Very nice! I'll definitely try to treat myself to one of these! Glad to see they've moved away from "rubber" tyres - they were about the only thing I didn't like much in their neat little Opel Blitz.

Concur! Here's my 28 yr-old Italeri Maultier with vinyl tires--note the "squishy" styrene around the rims: https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/166214&page=1

it looks like the vinyl wheels are attacking the styrene hubs. (My recently aquired unbuilt Italeri Maultier came with the tracks and wheels melted into the engine block.)
On to business , the postman just rang thrice:
Anyone want to review KOHiMA?

Hi all,
A big thank you to Guido Hopp for sending me the new Fw189 from Great Wall Hobby. I can't do otherwise than to build it now...
As you can see, Guido has added an unexpected bonus into the parcel: a 1:35 scale sWs with Flakvierling! It is not my scale but I must say I'm really impressed by the quality and the level of detail of the content. Great Wall Hobby does some high quality products for sure.

Hi Jean-Luc
Well, at least I won't need to take any more pics of my '189 - knowing you, you'll have yours finished before I can even get back to my workbench again next week!
Postie delivered a nice collection of samples to Aerocale today - Eagle Edition's latest Bf 109F decals, and Model Craft's Pick & Place tools for test:

Two arrivals in the post this week
Hasegawa 1/48 A6M5a
and the Airfix 1/48 JU 87-B (stuka) reboxing.
All I need to do is decide which to build first.

Coincidentally with Dragon's 1:32 Bf 109E Online Build
, they've just sent through a test-shot of the main sprues, so I'll have a crack at assembling it myself!

Hi all,
I 've got this yesterday...
The two paint schemes on the cover are very attractive and I will probably use them in the near future. Maybe for the forthcoming Bf109 E from Dragon.
Decals are included in 1:72, 1:48 and 1:32 scale. Metal guns barrels are provided as well in the three scales.

Hi Everyone.
With the rise of the Australian Dollar I decided to take advantage of the fact and ordered a few things..
Finely slit masking tape and paint-jar opener I actually ordered almost three months ago but they only came today. 0.5mm Brass pipe is for WW1 aircraft turn-buckle parts.
Hasegawa 1/350 USS Gambier Bay, two PE Sets and Wooden Deck.
I ordered this one back in August and it only just turned up today. I love RAAF subjects and have been wanting this one for ages.
I love big bad bombers and this was under $70 so I lashed out. It is almost $200 at the LHS.
Here is the DKM Scharnhorst and it's PE detail set, all 1/350 and from Dragon.
and finally, five packages later
The IJN Haruna in 1/350 from Aoshima. Also with its PE detail set. This was another long wait kit, but more than worth the wait I hope.
That was pretty good for one day eh! Much like a very early Christmas.

Hi again
When I post here, it's usually pretty much a sneak preview of upcoming Reviews and, true to form, Postie's been kept busy delivering samples to Castle Aeroscale over the last couple of days.
A superb calendar from Thierry Dekker:
Tools to test from Shesto:
SAM Publications' latest book:
And a bundle of exciting items from Eduard:

Are you going to stain Gambier Bay's deck? USN carriers didn't have their decks left in natural wood in WW2.
thanks
Mike

Hi again
Well, if you heard a loud crash a couple of hours ago, it was probably the sound of my jaw hitting the floor when I got home to Castle Aeroscale to find an enormous box of samples from our friends at MPM!
Watch out for Reviews in the near future!

Hi Michael.
The instructions state that the deck is actually painted Deck Blue... Maybe to protect the wood from the elements. However, it does not take many landings to make a runway or carrier deck with lots of black from tyres and lots of fluid marks from all the fluid leaks in the aircraft. Landings can be a violent affair at imes, especially carrier landings. I remember doing them in the Mess and if you slid oo far you went off the end of the runway (tables) and it hurt...

Hello !
I took a picture of the end result of my last spending spree. Its actualy a christmas gift from my girlfriend who took me to a model show last week, gave my money and let me go nuts, so i did It was actualy realy cheap, some 70 Euro altogether, which is cool since the new 2010 Dragon Pz.III N itself is sometimes sold for 40. We had to drive 4 hours to get there, but it was worth it. Zvezda`s 109 for some 10 Euro, Almondy for the drive home and KFC for the dinner. What can top that ? Isnt my girlfriend a sweet thing ?

Looks like you as lucky as I am partner wise, but you are getting over charged for your Dragon armor. I never pay more than about US$35 for mine or I feel ripped off!

No sister Im afraid. She has done some paper models in the past too. Last year she built the Academy Cutty Sark and she has the Revell Alexander Humbolt in my stash. But it has a downside too, I cant sneak anything around her, since she is very good in plane recognition, and knows the prices aswell
Well neither fo my LHS does sell DML and the nearest DML dealer isnt near at all and has only older stuff. There are dealers in Europe, who charge 40+ Euro for some, for example the newest Jagdpanther or the Kfz. 7 were like 43 - 45. So when there is a chance to buy a piece for less than 30 its considered bargain. The D3A1 Val was with 23 Euro also cheaper than normal. I wanted something in the stash in case I will be able to take part in the Sink the ships Camapign and was deciding between this one and the B5N from another dealer. But the price difference was like 15 Euro ! So i took this one. Doubt the other dealer sold anything that day.

Warren - The instructions are not quite correct, the decks were painted 20B Deck Blue but the flight deck was stained in no21 Flight Deck stain. This is similar to Deck Blue but you would notice the difference if the 2 colours were next to each other.
Maybe it would be possible to simulate the real thing by staining it with the correct paint, then rubbing the areas where the planes were taking off and landing, to show a small amount of the wood colour. Obviously combined with oil stains etc.
thanks
Mike
