I hope I'll be able to finish in time. Even though I only have some details left, I've come to know how difficult it is to find time when having two kids in the house... I'll do my outmost, since I really want that ribbon!

Cheers // PolarBear

Hey Bear, looking real nice and so close to being finished. You still have over 4 weeks to run on this, and with this being my first Campaign as leader (albeit a stand-in), you must remember that I have NO IDEA about the rules. It's entirely likely that you'll get a ribbon anyway.

Cheers, D

Over 4 weeks!?! I thought the deadline was in a couple of days!

You make me very happy! Now I have time to finish in style! (and maybe squeeze in some work on my Saab J21?)

Cheers!

Jesper - Looks very nice, congrats on the finish! I read awhile ago something about the red/orange picture problem. Sorry I cannot recall the exact answers, but one was to take the pic outdoors (natural light), other one was to change (some) filter setting (of some sort). Shows you how much I know about digital pics

Bjorn - That is a beautiful Mirage. I enjoyed the Dogfights episode of the Israeli's Mirages doing battle in the desert. Look forward to the rest!

cheers

Thanks for the comments, James. I just saw a picture of a B-17 with very heavy exhaust staining on the wings, so I guess it is quite realistic after all. Thanks for the tips on the photos - I will see if I can get some outdoor pictures before the end of the campaign.

Great looking mirage, Bjørn. I saw the original in Israel. Very handsome aircraft. Looking forward to see it finished.

After the tips from James, I tried to photograph my B-17 outside. The result was much better. The weathering and exhaust staining comes out much better and the red does not look like dayglow orange anymore.

However, I noticed I need to weather the inside of the engines. They look factory fresh. I totally missed that on checking the real model

Jesper, your Fortress looks great, I see what you mean about the engines. Amazing what you pick up from photo's that you miss when the real thing is right there in your hands.

Nick, your Meteor is taking shape really nicely. Excellent job so far.

The B-26 Marauder is done! And just in time as the model room will be torn apart to put in new bamboo flooring.

This is the Hasegawa 1/72 B-26 Marauder kit. Very nice and easy to build but I'm a slow builder that jumps projects.

More photos as I load them up to Photobucket later.

Enjoy.

Beautiful job on the Marauder, Joe. Very nice aluminium finish with a nice contrast to the invasion stripes.

Thanks for sharing

Joe, great looking Marauder! Did you have any trouble getting the kit to sit on its landing gear right? Just curious? Russell

Three 1/48 Revell, "Berlin Airlift", RAF Dakota pics posted here and in the gallery.

Sorry, they're not particularly great pics. Not a particularly great model either, Silver is hard to work with.

I painted this with Citadel Silver and whatever I did I had a horrendous job getting the decals (and Klear) to stick to it.

Murdo, sorry to hear you had issues with the finish, but I'm glad to see you pushed through, and the result is well worth it. Excellent end result on the C-47.

Joe, I just love the weathering and detail on that Marauder. Sounds like you take my approach, no rush.

Thanks so much for supporting the Campaign guys, and for sharing your work with us.

Cheers, D

Joe- Awesome Marauder! Great 'veteran' weathering.
Murdo- you make that Gooney Bird look easy. Finish looks new, flawless, and...Peacetime.

Thanks guys for the accolades on the Marauder.

Russell - I had to use some buckshot behind the cockpit bulkhead. Probably about 3 oz to be sure. I usually tape parts together and stand on its legs then add weights until it sits right. Then I add more to be sure.

First time I've done Invasion Stripes. They were taped off and painted so that they wouldn't be exactly parallel or the same width. If I ever do one in 1/32 I'll brush the paint on and leave the marks as many of the planes were done that way. Otherwise its just a little dirty. And I may redo the antenna wires a bit too.

Ok guys, less than 4 weeks to go now until the curtains come down on this matinee. I'll keep bumping every few days on the home stretch so that maybe we can get a couple more shiny wings in the Gallery. I'm grateful for the support you guys have given so far, and happy to have been able to help resurrect a great Campaign idea that was in danger of fading away.

Throw in a progress report if you're still with me.

Here is an update

I painted it with alclad 2, semi matt alluminium, that's why it isn't so glossy

Nice job on the Dakota, Murdo. The finish looks good in the pictures and the decals seems to have settled down nicely.

Thanks for participating

And some of my partners (I forgot the twizzers )

So I've been lurking for quite a while and have seen many excellent builds. I usually models cars and motorcycles, so this is something new for me. The build is a 1/72 scale P-51 by Tamiya. This is my first attempt at doing both an nmf finish and weathering. I think I probably went too heavy with the weathering but overall I'm happy with it and will getter better at it as I build more. So enough with the reading and on to the pics.
