I have a Hasegawa 1/48 one but I don't know if I'll be able to take part to this campaing. Anyway, I need an advice: the decals included are for the Hunsdon Mustangs Mk. IV and they are NMF which I don't fell like doing... any idea for making a non NMF one?

Cool , we are getting more folks for this campaign !
Well James you can always do Glenns mustang of Old Crow . All the profiles I have are of NMF and Old Crow is the only one which I can remember being all olive drab . There are more out there and some one will chime in soon with better aid to your question .

Hmmm, as always, check your references. FWIW, Testors 1/48 P-51D has Old Crow decals, but shows the finish as NMF execept on top of the engine. I seem to recall building Academy's 1/72 P-51C? as Old Crow in Olive Drab.

It seems to be attending airshows very frequently... and it's green and grey! Maybe it has been repainted?

and here are some decal sheets which could work fine for me!

Does anybody know whether they are good or not for Hase's 1/48 Mustang (what frightens me most is the red/yellow checquered stripe on the nose)? Or better, does Montex produce masks for this liveries?
EDIT:
from http://www.fightingcolors.com/P-51_page.htm
Flown by Captain Clarence 'Bud' Anderson
362FS, 357FG, 8AF
This his last P-51 was originally in OD green and neutral gray and later stripped to bare metal, though retaining its invasion stripes. Anderson ended the war with 16.25 aerial victories.

The Eagle Decals match the markings for Old Crow in the Testors kit. BTW, there is a duplicate set of Super Scale? / Scale Master? (Testors upgrade version), PM me if you're interested.
Academy kitted Anderson's P-51B in OD over Neutral Gray as shown here:
The checkerboard was a small PITA to get down, lots of decal solution. It hasn't survived well (10 years on) the red and yellow bands were a real bear and never did work for me.

Hi Terri,
The man's name is Clarence "Bud" Anderson. The book he authored is entitled "To Fly and to Fight".
the origianl OLD CROW was a P-39Q he flew in training. The first P-51C he flew was od over over nuetral gray. The P-51D he flew was originally od over nuetral gray, but in the spring of 1945 his ground crew stripped off the green and gray and polished the aluminium to a bright shine. As an aside ALL of Buds' planes had white sidewall tires

All this talk of Old Crow reminds me of my shame.
Link:My abandoned build of the same.
I guess I'll have to break it out as I build the P51A
I feel a lot more confident in making the engine mounts now. So I'll give it another go.
I also bought another Academy 1/72 P51B/C in case I slip up.
here are my links for p51s, old crow and hunhunter, if you fancy a bit of digging
http://delicious.com/jaypee/p51
Squadron walkaround book is really useful even if it is for p51d, a lot is still applicable.
The p51 maintenance CD is a cracking reference too.
Can recommend the eduard PE set for this kit.

If that's the same kit as in the pic I posted above, it's a sweet build. It was my first Academy kit and I'll recommend their kits based on that experience. The biggest problem I had was getting the yellow stripe on the spinner. Itried to paint it yellow and then just dip it in red paint for the front strioe. Got a big glob of paint on the tip for my effort that attracted every mouse in 3 miles to gnaw at it.

Im going to be doing Tamiya 1/48 OOB with etched seat harness. I will be doing the sharks teeth markings as per the box art. Keeping it nice and simple as I appear to have signed up for a few campaigns
Also as a total horse mad person I love the second ribbon

Well I have jumped in with a Revell/Monogram P-51B/C, still waiting for the kit to arrive and I am playing with what markings that I want to use. I have the book "THE WARLORDS volume 1" by Barry & Ann Money. There are just too many to choose from, I love most and cannot pin one down yet
