It's looking like an "Aussie" Anti shipping campaign at the moment (we will have to make Samantha a honorary Aussie!
I am just about to wash the sprues on my Avenger, just need to finish off my Corsair before I get this one started.

Started on the easy bits first, just part of the interior, I'm using scale drawings and the SAM Data File book 'Bristol Beaufighter' as my references for the evergreen scratch built additions.
Some of the kit interior parts will be substitiuted with PE seats for the pilot and observer and note I have removed the 'Blast Door's' of the kit supplied bulk head.
Next is to cut the pilot's tub from the floor and raise it 3mm before gluing it back into position.
Note: I have drilled out the spar frame on the entry hatches.

Damian-
I'll be joining the fray with a late Westland Wyvern in 1:48 from Trumpeter.
I have few add-on parts from Eduard.
I was planning to build it for the "Stand by Torpedos" campaign over at Modelshipswrights, but there is no chance getting it finished by the end of this month, so here conveniently starts a campaign allowing me to get to it.
This is my first aeroplane kit ever since I changed glueing plastic for chasing girls some 30 years ago.
Let's see how badly I can screw this one up!
Cheers,
Guido

Welcome aboard Guido, and great choice of build also. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress on that kit !
Sam, great to see you back at the bench, but please give us plenty of notice if you are headed down under now that you are an honorary Aussie, we all need time to hide and securely lock up our stashes !!
I got my sprues all washed today and will get a start on sub assemblies over the next few days.
Cheers, D

I've done a little bit more to my 'Beau' as the huge gap in the fuselage halves at the wing seam joint, have been covered in a not so BM Foil, but the foil from a block of chocolate and CA glued flush, on either side of the fuselage. Along with a little shelving in the fuselage halves and opening the rear floor plate bulkhead, can't lay any paint on the interior as I found my Model Master interior Grey/Green, needed replacing.
Test fitting that all is well before moving on in the next part of the build.

Had a sleeples night last night so I went to the workshop.
Even tough I will have to rebox everything again, I couldn't resist and started.
Please note again this is my firts "serious" aircraft, so please don't hold back on constructive criticism. Thanks!

Looking good so far Rob and Guido.
My Hannants order arrived today so it's a good enough reason to post what I plan on starting this weekend.
First the kit: Accurate Miniatures 1/48 SB2U-3 Vindicator
And the extras: Eduard etch and Master's turned brass gun barrels
The flaps of the Eduard etch (not pictured) looks like it'll be fun to bend (insert sarcastic tone here) but I can't wait to get started
Any chance this thread could be "stickied"

Excellent looking cockpit, Guido. Very nice details.
I will be building the old Matchbox Beaufighter Mk. X with the anti shipping radar in the nose. I am a little sceptic towards installing both the torpedo and the rockets, as I do not believe this load was used in combat for overloading reasons. I will go with just the rockets.
Work on the kit has started slowly, but I will post a few pictures later in the week.

Damian,
Thanks, the next bit's to add are the PE seats and all the little levers and switches a couple of trim wheels, the two harness's then I can continue on in joining it together.
Jasper,
If you are thinking of fitting the rockets as the under wing stores also add the hangers for the torpedo, as Squadrons that flew the 'Tor Beau' rotated the duties between flights for each of the anti shipping strikes, they carried out.
Hope this is help full.

Thanks for the info, Rob. I will make sure to add the mountings for the torpedo as well.
As promised here are a few pictures of my modest beginnings. More to follow.

Jesper,
I'll hunt threw some info on the TFX that you are doing as I'm certain the df loop cover is the gun camera housing on this type of TFX and there are a couple of antenia on the fuselage spine related to the radar system.

Guido - its looking good so far, if it turns out as good as your ship models, then it will be an excellent model! I'm looking forward to seeing what your display will be like at Telford this year, if you're going.
Jesper - the only thing I've found so far about the Beaufighter TFX, is that the rockets were carried instead of the wing machine guns. That by no means a definitive answer but I can't see any reason why you don't put the torpedo and the rockets on it!
thanks
Mike

Progressing on the 'Beau' and have added some bits that the kit leaves out, such as the port wing formation light and the fuselage spine forward of the observers hatch, drilled out the blast tubes of the 20mm added the hydrolic brake lines.
A small piece of Evergreen rod fixed in position.
Blast tubes and gun camera port opened up.
I drilled an opening in the antenia post, inserted a small piece of fine wire as the mounting for the trailing antenia, also toying with the idea of a few resin bits, on this bird, partial opened cowling flaps and Horizontal tail planes.
Antenia mounting.

Interesting to hear any info on the Beaufighter mk. 10, Rob.
I have finished basic construction. Next I will look through some references to see if there are any external fittings I can add to make a little detail improvement. One thing I am toying with is to drill out the gun fairings, but I am looking for some references first. Any help is appreciated.
More to follow.

Jesper,
No problem, give me a couple of days to get some pix organized.
I've toyed with the idea of the horizontal tail plane and other external resin bits for the 'Beau' build and gone for the dihedrail units of the kit I origanaly had in mind.

Good to see some of you already busy working here!
I won't start my build before early December, as both my Mitsubishi jets are still on the assembly line ....
As I have mentioned earlier, I will build the Revell (ex Monogram) Dornier Do 217 E-5 with Henschel Hs 293 anti ship rocket in 1:48 scale and I've already successfully dug the kit out of my stash.
Rob, your Beau looks great so far. Beside the Spitfire my favourite british aircraft, though I know you Aussies produced it also.
Sam, please take care while riding you horse. Don't take a break from campaign modelling again .....
Oh, before I forget - my Mitsubishi F-1 is in "Sea Camo" and could also have been used as a ship sinker, but that doesn't count for this campaign, right Damian ???
Happy modelling!
Torsten
