Well, with everyone's permission, I'd like to build this Airfix 1/72 F-105G.
Here's why I'm asking permission:
The kit's started, looks like I got a little gray paint on the interior fuselage and wings. and a little paint in the cockpit. According to a note I found, I did all this work back in July of '98 so, It's not like I just started a little early,
Whatcha think?

Old, it's not old,.......oh, the box art is old enough to drink in the US, This box dates from 1988. Ah, the fuselage has a marking "CPG Products Corp 1982". Raised panel lines, no cockpit side walls, ribs in LG bays. Huge slot in the bomb bay might have been for a stand, now the fuel tank fits there..
Since the kit is "started" I just want to be clear where I'm at before it gets exciting. I think I've got at least 1 of every other century if this one's going to be a problem.

Here is a progress shot of my F-100 just before its first coast of paint.
Should be painted within a short period of time..

Hi Warren
That is one big bird ,I love it.
Looking at your build I'm really tempted on getting this kit with the Aries cockpit and wheel well sets, what markings are you going to use?

Funny you should ask Andy..
"Hello? Mr Trumpeter. How are you today?"
"That's good. I am also well"
"Just a quick question about the decals for your F-100D kit"
"Well it is missing all the markings for the drop tanks.."
"You didn't know there were any? How could you miss big red lightning flases and coloured stripes around the noses?"
"You didn't see any with drop tanks on."
"Oh OK... right.. OK.. Well if you ever re-issue the kit you ,ight want to consider adding those small items."
"OK.. Bye bye"
Of course I didn't ring China as I aren't a millionaire and couldn't afford it..
I was going to do the second scheme for the F-100D flown by Capt Walt Bruce, but I put the drop tanks on and there are no markings in the kit for them. If I thought I could match the rest of the stripe colours I would have a go, but I am just not sure.. and stripes around a tapered round form are all but impossible to do. I think my option maybe to take the tanks off, or just ignore them and say that the painted tanks went U/S (unserviceable) and were replaced by ordinary tanks. Hmm.. thta happens all the time and is quite plausible, so there is the solution.. Ig nore the problem and explain it away ..

Andy, I'm sorry to hear about your Mother-in-Law. I have been having my own problems as you know. Sounds like 2011 will be a great year since it can't get any worse for us.
You guys are leaving me in the dust. Justin your cockpit looks damn near real. You may have already stated this, but are the instrument clusters Eduard zoom PE or did you paint all that little tiny crap?
Warren, heavy weathering and paint chipping will do wonders for missing decals, eh? That's one of my secrets.
I have a couple pic's of my progress with my Aires cockpit for my 102 that I'll post when I get a few extra minutes.

I'll be getting started on mine here tonight. Nothing fancy for me. Will probably do some scratch detail in the cockpit and cut the canopy open. The Obscureco wing needs to be trimmed a bit to fit the fuselage. I got a metric Sh** ton of campaigns I enlisted in...this is going to be fun. Back soon with some progress... "Q"

Interesting choice, Matt. Sometimes it is nice with an old school kit to get a breeze of nostalgia. Looking forward to see it progress.
Good progress on another kit from you, Warren. Do you have an extra long winter holiday or are you just quiting sleep building day and night as one should??

.. I set myself a target to get the six campaigns started on Jan 1st over as quick as possible. I have completed three of the builds and the other three should be done soon. Then i can sleep...
So I am existing on just six or so hours sleep a night at the moment.. But that is not the models fault, I am just not sleeping alot lately. Rather than disturb my Wife I go to the hobby room and wind down for a few hours then go back to bed for a few hours.
Better than relying on sleeping pills etc!

Ayhan, that has to be one of the most realistic painting effects I've ever seen. The uneven heating effect you've achieved is awsome and adds alot to the overall scheme. I love the Turkish decals as well. Very, very nice build.
Warren, that was my same question. When do you sleep?
Very nice work on that big ole Hun. I'm starting to wish I'd chosen to build my 100 as well.
Matt, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with that old kit. I have 2 of the same in my stash. If anyone can bring that sucker to life it'll be you.

Here's a shot of my resin cockpit I started with. The second shot is the cockpit painted and installed in the fuselage.
I'll have to do a little touch-up on the seat pads but otherwise it looks decent and the fit was ok.

I agree, great looking builds guys!
Warren: I know exactly what you mean as I often find myself in the same situation.
Ayhan: Your finish came out very nicely, which paints did you use?
Hermon: Nice job! It took me a minute or two to realize that the restraints weren't individual pieces.

Hi all. Some very impressive work going on here I must say.
I dived into the Voodoo box last night and did a test fit of the fuse and wings. This is my first (semi)modern jet and in 1/48 MAN these things are big compared to the WW2 birds I'm used to.
Anyway, everything looks to fit really well so far, so I'll throw some glue at it later today and post some pics.
Ayhan, WOW - can't say any more than that !
Warren. 1/32! Yyou must have to stand in the neighbors yard to get those pics if 1/48 seems big to me !! Very nice work so far mate.
'Cuda, great work on the tub, looks really sharp !
Cheers, D

LOL Damien. I have a camera with a very wide angle lens..
Anyway, here is one last progress shot.. almost there..
I am not a big fan of stencils, and hardly any of the stencils for this one are even close to correct.. some have made me laugh they are so far off.. But anyway, this is OOB so I apply them. No one except me and 976876876876 internet people will ever know they are not correct..
