I'm going to enlist, with either a Ford Flivver from 1926 or a WNW Sopwith Pup RNAS.

I know I've had a bad showing of late, but I'm hoping the coming year will be better. My intentions are to give it an honest try.

I'm leaning toward the Williams Brothers Flivver.

O.K. Guy, I just have to ask; what is a Ford Flivver??

Cheers,
Lance

Lance, the Ford Flivver was built by the Ford Motor Company in the 1920's. It was intended to be the "Model T" for personal flying pleasure in the early years of aviation.

Neat! Completely new to me, and I thought I knew everything. Always something more to be learned.

Hey, Guy that Flivver looks a handful, I'd love to read the pilot's notes. It makes me feel better about suggesting a Wright Flyer.

Andrew, I so jolly happy that someone might attempt the Wright Flyer. For my present talent, though, it would involve more riggn than I care to try. Good luck with it, and a great choice.

Hi Mike: There is the time frame of 1 February to 31 August. Pick the model you want to build, start a build blog with the reference material, the kit, and then post pictures of your progress stating what it was you did. You can go back to the KOTS and see some of the build blogs. There is no flaming, no rush or anything like that.
Here are the rules and guidelines.
The main thing is to have fun, build a kit, share and learn.
The Proposed Rules and Regs"
1. For the Aeroscale "Knights of the Sky II" GB 2012 and we will open it to:
a. All aviation builds upto 1934.
b. All vendors.
c. All scales.
d. New have the option be finished for this GB with scale figure(s) incorporated into the build.
e. In progress builds must be finished for this GB with scale figure(s)incorporated into the build.
f. Unfinished hangar queens must be finished for this GB with scale figure(s)incorporated into the build.
g. Injection moulded.
h. Vacuform plastic.
i. Resin, metal paper or wood. The components can be any combination thereof.
j. Kit conversions.
k. OOB.
l. Super detailed.
m. Prototypes or main production versions.
n. Colour scheme from a real historical subject and relevant to your build.
o. The build cannot have been used in another GB.

2. It must be a real example of an Early Aviation subject up to 1934.

3. Each participant will submit a build thread (in Early Aviation title) a blog with images. Historical images of the original aircraft are a must to include. If the content meets conditions it will be considered for submission to Aeroscale for publishing as a front page Feature. A gallery will be set up for finished builds to be posted.

4. It will run from February 1st to August 31st 2012.

5. A campaign ribbon will be offered on completion.

6. Manufacturers will be approached and asked to honour the builder who uses their products in this GB build. There are no guarantees in this arena.

7. A gift of a new hobby item will be provided for the best aviation subject, best figure, creative presentation.
Enjoy

I currently have a 1/48 polikarpov I-16 type 10 and a 1/48 boeing P-12e. Both with the cockpits painted and installed, fuselage halves, wings and stabilizers attached, seams filled and the Rata is primed.

Thats it.

Do these qualify?

thanks

All right its up and running and we are ready. Start your blog on Feb. 1, 2012. Model On!

Note: All Aeroscale Staffers are excluded from the hobby related awards. Everyone who finishes a build gets one award ribbon. (No matter how many you complete.) Start your thread as a Blog with the usual Kost II GB - aircraft type and your callsign.

Hi, Stephen! I am very happy that this campaign goes official tomorrow. I will repost some of my historical material tomorrow, just to have historical backround for the build as required. So, if I want do start a build log, it must be in the EA forum, and I expect that the title of the blog is "KOTSII GB Albatros D.III eseperic", is that correct?

All the best,
Entoni

I don't know whether they qualify but I like your taste, especially the I-16. I'm building an I-15, 1/48 scale, assembled, paint on, in the middle of rigging, no engine yet. I'll not use it for this but I'd still like to see yours. I'll put some pics on a thread over the next week or so.

I like the kit, fits are pretty good so far and moulding is OK with few serious faults. I had to do quite a lot of work round the nose to blend the firewall in properly but otherwise used very little filler. The fairing over the front of the engine will need the cooling slots cutting out which promises to be challenging and the cowling ring has a prominent moulding line round it that needs to be removed. If that is the worst I consider the kit was good value for money.

I really like the idea of a ribbon for anyone who finishes .A wonderful accomplishment in itself. It is not a competitive thing other than than a self imposed one. A wonderful record of achievement.Hang it on your wall where you build your stuff It is not egotistical or wrong to do so but is a constant reminder to yourself of what you can achieve.I also keep all my early work as a reminder of just how far I have come down the road when I need a little self encouragement.
I also have on my wall, framed and readily visible, comments from artists that I admire the most and from other knowledable
individuals who's opinion that I respect.

To make it a bit more broad, if it is an early aviation subject(up to 1934) but carries markings of a later date, say 1935 to 2012 the kit will be allowed. But the specific airframe had to be flying by 1934. And it has to be modeled after a real aircraft with those markings. No hypotheticals. Thats for another GB.

I'm in with the kit that precipitated that change. William's Brothers' Boeing 247 in the markings of Calgary Standard Oil in 1957. CF-JRQ first flew in 1933 for United Air Transport (later to become United Airlines) and flew for 11 other owners before being purchased by Standard Oil and used to resupply drilling and exploration sites all over Canada's North. Retired in 1967, -JRQ today makes its home in the Canadian National Aviation Museum.

One week, 168 hours, 10080 minutes, 604800 seconds. You may want to work in some food deliveries and restroom breaks. A medical staff of at least three RN nurses to work 8 hour shifts to administer AMS medications. Plenty of hot coffee, energy drinks and at least 7 power naps. Also for the sake of the nurses, plan on at least a 10 minute shower every 3 days. I recommend along with the nurses at least 2 personal managers preferably female each working 12 hour shifts to go pick up incidentals & supplies should you run short.

"Campaign Gallery can be found Here"

I've tried to follow this link to the KoTS II Gallery but all I get is "nothing to view". Mgunns posted his Pfalz III photos but they don't appear to be there. Am I doing something wrong or is there a "glitch" in the Gallery??
Cheers,
Lance
