Hi,
It's been a while since I updated, I've been sidetracked with work and some other things. But here's my progress so far, I started painting the cockpit then decided to use the white ensign paints so I stripped the paint from the cockpit and used the white ensign colours. I have weathered and put the transfers on, they're thinner than what I'm used too, I had some trouble with one of the instrument panels.
Since these shots, I have painted the inside red colour of the undercarriage doors and will soon be painting the outside and will then be putting the cockpit tub in the fuselage putting the fuselage together then starting on the alclad colours, masking that off then doing the camoflage and then putting undercarriage etc and decaling.
I'll upload more pictures in the near future hopefully.

Richard, the cockpit looks great! I know what it is like to get sidetracked with life. I need to light a fire under myself and get going, so to speak. Russell

Julian, very nice indeed. I see why the Soviets called it the "Comb" with all those wing pylons. My Linden Hill decals came in for my single- seater. Now comes the hard part....picking out a scheme . Leaning towards Chad or Equatorial Guinea......or maybe Macedonia.
Best wishes , Ian

Thanks Ian, this thing is fighting me all the way Fit is not specifically too good and the instructions are rather cryptic to say the least. I am getting the beast where I want it to be though.
Something exotic for your build sound good. Chad or Equatorial Guinea sound interesting. I was rather tempted to go for the Iranian SU-25's , (the Iraqi refugees).
Cheers,
Julian

Well I think I got my scheme picked out.....think I will go with "White 029" from Equatorial Guinea. These Linden Hill Decals are really beautiful.

Hi Ian, missed this post yesterday. They both look interesting, "White 029" is version you will be modelling I take it. What is the other one?

Julian, the other scheme is from the Chad AF, flown by Ukrainian mercenaries. I like the scheme but I am having trouble figuring out color equivalents. I will probably do "029" because I like the camo on that one. Should be fun to weather too.

Chad airforce, ok. It would be something out of the ordinary, weathering would show up well on those light colours too. 029 will keep you busy masking though

Looking good Richard, nice job on that cockpit. If mine comes out half as good I will be pleased.
Made a little progress yesterday on the Strike Flanker. Cockpit detail painting is coming along slowly. I am a notoriously slow and methodical painter. Couple that with the fact that the Tamiya/Italeri cockpit is SERIOUSLY lacking in any actual detail or likeness makes things slow going. I am really just painting things with the hope that it looks SOMEWHAT like an actual cockpit, so we'll see. Am going to try to tackle the seats with the airbrush If I can figure out how to mask off the rest of the tub. . . .cheers.

Thanks Russell, glad you approve of the "Gratch". Still a way to go yet though. At the moment I pleased I got the fuselage together with everything inside

Julian, your -25 looks great! I will probably start my -25 once I get my other project wrapped up for the British Aerospace build. What color are your wheel bays and landing gear struts? Trying to get all my research material together before I start.

Hi Ian,
the wheel bays on this model are rather disappointing with no detailing at all. Luckily you don't see much of the inside because most of the doors close again after the gear is extended. the bays I painted in a light grey colour. Did the same with the gear legs using some silver and "chain mail" to give some accents.I did scratch the pull rods between the "open" bays doors and the main gear legs as they show up in most photos. When I get around to weathering I will give the gear legs a couple of washes. The big "balloon" tyres draw most attention anyway. The Revell Su-25 has more, (better?), detailing in and around the bays.
Cheers,
Julian

Here are three photo's that show a greyish colour on the gear legs that is different to the underside colour. On the first photo you can also clearly see the pull rods between gear leg and door:
hope I don't mess with copyrights belonging to these photos. Found them on line and downloadable. Any one upset drop me a line and I will remove them.

September 9th update:
Stencilling finished, pylons and sway braces fitted.
Sawing the one piece canopy int0 4 pieces doesn't really improve the fit. I'll be displaying the canopies open so no sweat here. Now armament and weathering.:
all for now,
cheers,
Julian

Julian, looks great. I like the weathering on the upper surfaces. Very true to form
for an SU-25. Thanks for the info on the struts and wheel bays. I will probably start mine soon since I am wrapping up my Harrier for the BAe Campaign. I liked the Linden Hill sheet so much I bought another -25 this weekend. Now I have two Frogfeet?....or Frogfoots?.... or Frogfeets?
Best wishes everybody , Ian

It's turning out okay in spite of being a build not for the "faint hearted" Russell. Largely out of the woods now and plain sailing from now on.
I was wondering about the plural form of "Frogfoot" Ian. I am definitely planning to build 2 "Frogfeet"
Cheers,
Julian

Good heavens Julian, I would hate to be on the ground and have that thing bearing down on me!! What a beast indeed! Quite a lot of ordnance. Amazing. Good work. Russell

Julian, like Russell said, I would hate to be on the ground and be on the receiving end of that. Just out of curiosity, what is the ordnance outboard of the rocket pods? Cannon pods? Very impressive.
Best wishes, Ian
